MSRs and stuff

Everyone knows that with a large number of people, there is likely to be diversity. A diverse crowd, by definition, is likely to enjoy different things.

Historically, when @American Valor and/or Steele Magnolia or @Noyjitat would lead the msrs, I felt lucky to get into the zone.

For the past year or so, @Noyjitat hadn't missed a raid until recently when work schedules became problematic. Still, this guy called a friend who logged in just to let me know so I could let the server know, and I led in his absence.

Now, for two scheduled MSRs in a row, Liberty has failed to show up. We all have our preferences. For those that are vip, it's your money - I encourage you to do what's fun while you play, so long as it doesn't interfere with someone else's fun.

So, what's up, Liberty? Was I so mean in raising the level limit to 35 that it's not worth your while if you can't get mad xp? (bear in mind, I made that rule for my raids - while @noyjitat won't complain if you abide by it, I don't think he's set a minimum level for his. )

Is Dark Astoria still shiny? Is it the staff powerset that most of you are playing and don't want to spoil the mood because your new toon isn't high enough?

We saw 154 unhidden people on LB - which, for all practical purposes is really the only channel liberty has. There are other private and public channels, but LB is the main one. I saw no other things going on, although I did hear of a baf forming prior to the msr.

Unfortunately, I don't think we even had 10% of that show up. On a Saturday night, no less.
I know that there are some that have their own groups, whether they are a private channel that you team exclusively with (almost), or SGs that typically stick to themselves. But, where were the 48 people from 2 weeks ago? and 3 weeks ago?

If you've gone to play another game, I am upset that you didn't at least give your stuff to someone. If you were doing something like a tf that was dragging on longer than expect, I get that, too.
I know things happen. I just want to know if folks are still interested in doing msr. If not, well, the message is coming in pretty loud and clear.

I think you're reading into things a bit too much.

Yes, we didn't have some new shinies that have presented themselves. Staff Fighting and DA... people are still enjoying the Dark control sets and Beast Mastery.

I was actually on Liberty for a Tanker Tuesday last week and only 2 people showed... so don't take it too personal... people are busy, bored, burnt out... it happens.

I personally don't go to too many MSRs as they are quiet boring for me, but when I do go, I give it my all.

Hang in there, it'll get busy again, especially when F2Ps can send tells! ACK!

Oh....that could be really good, or really, really, really bad. I'm not sure how I feel about that change.

Rex like always; don't sweat it, Tax E summed it up pretty good Bud. I personally like to see a Majority of 50's at MSR's but very happy with 35+ below that there could be issues depending on the AT in question.

I view this as a community event and as such I expect the community to do there part in any event that is being hosted. if 3 50's show up and 19 lvl 2's (able to get to fort via travel powers; rocket board, carpet, panther run etc...) show up to a MSR beside it being extremely funny to see the massive team wipes more than likly lessons would be learned so that doesn't happen again.

Can MSR be used to PL? Sure no different then AE farms or the old balance 46 bridges that used to be done. IMO if you have a friend who is low and has never done a MSR by all means bring them so they can experience MSR goodness but remember that for every toon below the recommend lvl (35+) that prevents a toon of the proper lvl (35-50) to join the league.

If it ever truly became an issue I would have to discuss it with my co leader because as a community event I would like to see recommended lvls fill the league first. This past Sunday night we fielded 6 full teams by the 9 pm start with plenty of mixed lvls.

my only other (Stuff)
For any event please try to arrive before the start time if at all possible it makes building the league easier.

Also since I'm hijacking this I would like to thank you and several others who always bring their 50's and we can count on to assit us in building the league as team leaders.

As American Valor and I co-lead our MSRs I tend to err on the side of being more lenient than I might otherwise be. I'd prefer everyone at the MSR to be 35+, but I am not going to refuse to invite someone if they are below that. I still expect them to do their best to contribute.

If too many lowbies becomes an issue we'll handle it, preferably by having people switch to characters that can better contribute. I consider Mothership Raids to be a community event and not a community PL service.

Whom I have absolutely no mercy upon are the AFK leechers. Real life happens. I know it and am pretty understanding. Cat choking, garage on fire, roommate trying to commit suicide, spousal aggro, kids throwing a fit, etc I get that. If you need to go afk for a few just say something. If it's a real emergency just go and send me a tell later. That said, I'm not dumb. I take player notes on everybody and use the player rating system to note people I want to keep track of, so it's likely I've already put down something about you. Real examples: great tank, dual boxes TFs, impatient, good at pulling, funny character bios, awesome raid leader, nice person, @So-and-so's wife, mean to newbies, AFK leech, rude chat, petitioned for hate speech, plays on Exalted too, just a few I've used. If I see Ukase has gone afk and been gone a long time I'm going to assume there's a real life issue. If I see someone I've noted negatively before I'm going to assume otherwise.

Even if you're only level 2 I expect you to do your best. It may be a lousy best, but do it anyway.

I can't speak for anyone else who used to show up and has skipped out recently... but in my own case, I'm just not playing CoH or looking at the forums as much as I used to. I spend a lot more time over in Aion these days, and since we often play together, that usually means FCM is out of the Liberty loop as well.

I honestly don't know when (or even if-) I'll be around again... but I do wish you luck. Hopefully all you're seeing is the result of everyone's lowbie Staff and Beast characters making their way to 35.

I've tried to get some other events rolling recently without much enthusiasm from the crowd (although the itf is a perennial fav) . It seems like the server blahs are somewhat pervasive the past couple of weeks.

You are correct in this. Some other servers are busier than Liberty with events and it's sad to see Liberty failing to participate.

Not sure what can be done to get the enthusiasm up again.

Having a blast with the Nemesis Invasion - Tax E is leading a league right now.

Liberty still has some life left in her.

Huh? When did they tell us and how did they tell us about this? All I saw was a pop up about a silly survey.

For my part at least I've not had the time to play much CoH recently. Usually I could at least have my kid (he's 17) jump in to help fill out the raid and bring down those Rikti but with his school year winding down, lots of activities involving the whole family, I just haven't made any of them for a while. It'll change soon I'm sure, though nice weather tends to limit my gaming time as well. ;-)

Primaries: Doctor Roboto - 50(+3) MM (BOT/FF/MU)
Johnny Liberty - 50(+3) Tank (EM/INV/EM)
Lvl 50 Archetypes: MM, TNK, BRT, SCR, PB, CNT, DOM
Still working on: NONE! NCSoft won't let me. =(

Just been busy lately with lots of dr appts getting ready for my jaw surgery next week! That and I've been playing Borderlands for the first time when I get home some nights

But hopefully I'll be having a good 2+ weeks of CoH (gaming) time while I heal up from my surgery!
