Y u no pets!

So I made an Elec/Dark Dom without Gremlins and I got kicked off a team because the team leader was like Y U NO PETS! /kick

Then I started my own team and my teammates were like Y U NO PETS! lololol!

Well, kudos to them for noticing at least.

But, that's where it stops. As much as it pains me to say it, nobody is paying your sub, so they have no place to be concerned with how you build your toon. Or do they? The easy answer is no, but a lot of players have expectations about certain power sets.

Would you want a fire tank without burn?

An empath without CM, Fortitude, RAs or AB?

An illusionist troller without Phantom Army?

I can't say whether Gremlins are the defining power of an electric Dom. Even though I have one that's level 44, and I did take gremlins, but they don't seem that great to me. I could just as easily take or leave them. Plenty of other tools at my disposal.

Why did you skip the pets?

If you were a controller, I'd be kind of wondering why you didn't take them. I wouldn't kick you though. Even if you weren't Nemu, I wouldn't kick you. I'd probably ask to cure my curiosity and you'd tell me you built something like s/l/e/n or m/r/aoe defense and couldn't afford them.

Anyway this is not going in the direction I was hoping for. So lets start over.

Y U NO PETS!!!

My favorite is the people that make force field characters and only pick up dispersion bubble or the empath that skips all the buffs and only picks up healing aura. I've never kicked someone for it boggles my mind.

I've never kicked anyone for not having X power, but I still expect them to do their job. I expect a tank to tank, a defender to defend, a mastermind to run their pets, etc... Sometimes you can do that without the tools that others expect if you're just that good. Sometimes you can't - Clear Mind is an example of a power that you just can't compensate for the lack. You either have and use it or you don't.

In a choice between two same power set characters I'd take the one that has the tools over the one that doesn't because they're not handicapped straight out of the gate.

If a player really shines or really sucks I'll make a player note and star them that way I'll see the rating stars over their head regardless of what toon they're playing. (Options > General > Player Rating > Show Always; right click on the character or character name and 'edit note'.)

It's your sub and your character, build and play as you wish. Just realize that everyone else is doing the same and that 'as they wish' includes the choice of whom to team and whom not to team with.

Gremlins on a Dom? Meh.... I wouldn't have been looking at your pets anyway, but how much control you were laying out. If the control is there I wouldn't care less whether you had Gremlins or not.

PS: I build for concept and RP. I totally get that. I'd still never build an empath without buffs unless it was a solo build.

Also... Yeah, that's such BS. I, personally, wouldn't kick you if you were a Mastermind with no pets. Who am I to judge without seeing you in action?! I am sure someone could prove valuable enough on a team... I really don't friggin' care! I know, I know... this game is SO hard!! And it is srs business!!!!!

Seriously... anyone who is that concerned about someone else's build (unless trying to pull of something very specific and difficult - like a master run of something) is just flat out demonstrating how terrible of a gamer they are. I've pretty much soloed as a Blaster on teams of real-life friends who couldn't hold their own weight, because they were not very familiar with the game... Yeah, that's right... I'm callin' you min-maxing, player-kicking, sad weaklings out!!
Go build an AR/Devices... skip all primary and secondary choices, choose only power pool powers... and try and be a real man/woman/thing!! Nyaaaaaahhhhhh!!!

There is some kind of graphical glitch that causes Nemu's archetype icon to incorrectly display as Blaster, Controller, or, most recently, Dominator. Sometimes the animations for his powers might look like attacks from those powersets, too.

But don't let it fool you. Nemu is always a Scrapper.
