Although Temp Inv can be swapped with Power Boost.

    [/ QUOTE ]

swap it for conserve power mate, with the endurance discount on defenders and stamina conserve power isnt essential

Besides which, for me personally, solo PvP is nowhere near as much fun as teaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yeah solo gets old real fast

    [/ QUOTE ]

    especially as a pvp empath

The one power I did get rid of was clear mind.
In most teams my defender ran with beig caught in a hold/sleep was not much of a problem...And Frankly I found proton volly more useful

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is something I don't understand. Imo, clear mind is one of the MUST take empathy powers, and even if I was to drop the rest of the entire set, clear mind is the power I'd probably choose above all the others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

agreed, in pve it is essential for all squishies imo and in pvp its essential for the whole team due to the +perception
  7. i no things have changed, all im saying is that things have changed for every1 so if we look at blasters, Gatling for example cant kill as easy but all blasters cant kill as easy anymore so the kill ratio is likely to remain around the same level (even if the kill total falls) i only mentioned him in the first place to try to show that a bad player with the "uber" build is no comparison for a very good player with a supposedly lesser build enough said on the matter lol

can't see why every1 needs to pick at things but if a blaster is attacking another player with shields after i5 and 6 they have less resistance,

    [/ QUOTE ]
Stopping you right there, if you'd seen - or been in - any of FSA's matches, you'd know that Gat picked up the role of the (very effective) squishie-hunter, which is part of the basis of my reasoning.

FYI, I "pick at things" because I'm keen on accuracy, no more and no less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i was in a match and watched several matches squishies still suffered from no perman hasten and their shields in pools becoming less effective making them easier targets, ED affected everyone and this is a post about pvp builds so cant see why ur still going on about this?
  9. can't see why every1 needs to pick at things but if a blaster is attacking another player with shields after i5 and 6 they have less resistance, opponents firing at blasters do less dmg so can't kill them as quick, healers can't heal as much to save their team mates, most players used perman hasten and so on....every1 was affected so the kill ratios are likely to remain around the same level. once again, the point is the player is more important than the build in pvp

take gatling for example, after repeated debates on the forums most people think ice/energy and fire/energy blasters are the best, yet look at his stats in s4 with elec/energy

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not to take anything away from Gatling, who I've had the pleasure of teaming with in PvE and against in PvP, but his stats in the S4 competition - much like everybody else's stats in the S4 competition - are no basis for comparison in the realities of PvP at the current point in time, for a few good reasons... those being I5, I6, and more importantly, ED. (Not only do those changes make a significant difference to damage output, but also to the tactics that the FSA were using in the competition.) Syn picked up 30 kills in the Also-Rans' first match - I seriously doubt I'd be able to do the same if a similar event were to occur now.

If you want to point to Gat as a good example of an Elec/Energy in his own right, do so by all means; using S4 as a rule by which to measure anything in today's PvP is going to lead to inaccurate conclusions, however, even if I do agree with your general point of the player being more important than the powerset.

    [/ QUOTE ]

every1 has been affected by i5, i6 and ED so his kill ratio to others would still be around the same level altho he was able to do that with the support of a great team so i agree it may not be a fair comparison but i was just highlighting the player rather than the build is important for pvp
  11. in pvp it is far more important whos using the toon rather than the toon itself, sure some powersets help a lot but good players can be lethal/effective with many toon sets. take gatling for example, after repeated debates on the forums most people think ice/energy and fire/energy blasters are the best, yet look at his stats in s4 with elec/energy
  12. [ QUOTE ]
PvP is playable as a defender although not in it's traditional team support role.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depends on the defenders build, i play empath in pvp and do nothing other than play team support, villains often go after me but i am rarely killed
  13. [ QUOTE ]
There seems to be a lot of blanket 'heroes are better' statements. This annoys me, especially when i hear it from level 18 villains in bloody bay, whining as they get ganked by a lev50 scrapper.

There is no way, of yet, to determine the best of the bunch, as even level 40 villains are a bucket load of enh behind the heroes, AND the fact people have been on average playing heroes far longer ( more experienced ), AND heroes atm have access to many more accolades that boost health, recovery, end, def, etc etc.

    imo villains have a great potential for pvp;
    1) Dominators - Mind/psi or Mind/EM eek! detoggle and holdtastic!
    2) Corruptors - With the epics ( ie defences ) i'm sure my ice/kin corruptor can go toe to toe with a kinetic defender, or almost any other AT for that matter.
    3) Brutes - Well with fury i feel most brutes will pwn. Especially granite ones.
    4) MM's - OK, many MMs will suffer in pvp, however those with pff or similar will just pwn.
    5) Stalkers - Squishy killers.

I'm not saying villains are more powerful. Far from it. I'm just saying, in time, im sure they'll level the playing field.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i agree completely, many villains ccomplain and moan in pvp zones about things being unfair but i largely believe the imbalance to be down to experience. i believe a good player behind a villain can be deadly as i have seen with a few villains in sirens, although not many. for example the majority of ff masterminds simply sit in their pff letting their pets kill, when ff can be a deadly pvp set when it is actually used to its potential.

    whirlwind

how good is whirlwind as a defensive power in pvp? more specifically for an empath who doesnt attack, just looking for a bit of defense
  15. always up for avs, have finished the av arcs with my first 2 characters, have to say i've never had a problem making a team to kill av's. my empath will help if needed as long as ur killing all in the missions and not just doing a hit and run on the avs, as most of the missions are very good xp
  16. I take my defender into sirens all the time, never attack anyone but the villains hate me as i keep everyone alive and buffs allow them to see them pesky stalkers, basically when a good empath teams in pvp, the villains dont last long one villain even put on broadcast after me arriving for 5 mins: "they have an empath this is pointless"
  17. invul or stone primary, depending whether u want to be mobile while tanking, energy or fire secondary depending whether u want to do single target damage or aoe damage (largely whether u will spend a lot of time in pvp or pve)
  18. lol ask the villains in sirens what they think of cherry drops and her bubbles truly deadly if used right, ur pretty mush immortal with bubbles

How does your opinion that ice/energy is bettter for fighting one build of scrapper (which the post is about) suddenly become the best pvp blapper archetype? personally i'd much rather face an ice/energy blaster with any character in the arena than elec/ or fire/energy

    [/ QUOTE ]
Don't put words into my mouth. I never said it was the best all-round - I said it was FotM (Flavour of the Month), which it arguably is - much in the same way that Spines/Regen is the FotM PvP Scrapper build, so on and so forth.

Edit: But on that note, paging Seiche to the arena for a quick demo of why Ice/Energy is a feared build. *blows on his special Prof whistle*

    [/ QUOTE ]

now you're talking about the player not the build
  21. [ QUOTE ]

Even if you insist that damage isn't enough (Fire), and that KB isn't reliable (Energy), you must accept that there's nothing Elec can do against a Spines/Regen that Ice can't do better, and with the benefit of slows on top - there's a reason why Ice/Energy is the FotM PvP Blapper build, like it or not.

  22. wohoo we have sirens again! execellent work gatling and cherry
  23. does a corrupter doing fulcrum shift, aim and inferno compare to blaster aim and build up inferno?

controller with a group held using fulcrum shift and fire ball with double dmg must come close too
