Ice/Energy Tank Build messing
I changed this around a little, mostly for pvp purposes. This was tested this morning against Psi babbage, Rikti/DE with a Thorn Monster mission and against carnies (with AV) (basically some issues for tank) and it worked much better than I thought, infact alot more powerful than my last build.
(This one is differently a build to spec into at 40+)

ice/nrg tankers any good?
Works for me...but never tried any other tanks so I can't compare.

All your power choices except boxing and kick are the same so without knowing your slotting i dont see how you have proved that the 2nd build is alot more powerful than the last.
So far to me you have proved that 2 tanks same build powerwise with not exactly the same tests carried out against some enemies can have a different level of luck which most people know anyway.

I'm wishing it would come quicker for pvp so I might change the slotting but currently I have it slotted with 3 Heals, 2 Interrupt and 1 Recharge.
O and don't assume any EM build will "own", I got smashed by a SS/EA Brute cause I kept missing with Energy transfer and Total focus even with 2 Accuracy's. In sirens, you might as well just fight mobs because any attacking is very weak (bring on the 50 zone I say).
An Ice tank is the ultimate PvE "tank". Note "tanking" is a lot different to "absorbing damage." A blaster can absorb damage with enough purples, no the beauty of Ice Armour is in the taunting ability of chilling embrace. Pick this power and learn to love it. I have no idea if it's bugged but chilling embrace unslotted can hold almost all aggro. I have it slotted with 2 taunts and blasters are free to spam AoE and they never (cough very rarely cough) get hit.
I wish some power (preferably Chilling Embrace) had -jump. Half the time I think someones going to fall because they can't escape and then "bounce" they just SJ away. Anyone have any idea how to stop them?

had noticed this in last 12 hours i was sk'd to my friends invuln tank for 1 mission(just to see how her tank works with the aoe fear thingy from presence pool in teams) but anyway the enemies LOVED ME MORE!! now that is what tanker should be all about as much as possible. My chilling embrace is well slotted though it will stay that way.

CE is WAI. It holds aggro because it autohits, and because the slow effect keeps mobs in the aoe for longer.

Yup, CE i WAI and mobs love Ice tanks more than Invulns because CE has 2 debuffs and they are [censored] off by those debuff while Invincibility has no debuff, even better are damaging AoE taunt aura like Blazing Aura, Icicles and Mud Pots because the mobs are very angered by some constant damage.
yet i think icicles aint really worth the end it costs to sustain

Half the time I find that CE is even stronger than mudpots and fiery aura. No idea why it should be but it is.
It seems as if post I7, Ice Tanks are going to be the uber. Always were unequivically best at getting aggro (I used to play one, I was dissapointed if I couldnt grab 90% of all hits), and now, finally can take it (with defence changes and the already tasty -14% damage debuff of CE).
I just hope that they arent nerfed. C'mon devs, they have had so long being absolutely rubbish, let the poor things have a couple of months absolutely laughing at other tanks, and having groups scream out for an ice tank (Yay! instead of *kick*). By all means, nerf them in issue 8, but please please let them have their day after years of being the least popular.
made my ice tank in i4, could often outherd/outtank firetanks (never really compared to stone+mudpots), herding complete maps of all enemies, fire energy absorption, fire ice patch, and just let my teams take em out.
Those were the good days, got him to 27 then (didnt even get a travel power cause i was focussing on my armors). However then came the issue 5 ice gimps, max taunt, max aggro etc.. this lead to me not playing my tank for all issue 5. Now in issue 6, they are somewhat less gimped and I get him out occassionally, though mainly for PvP. Thank god they get some loving again in i7. Ice tanks pre-i5/6 were underrated, not underdeveloped.
Now we ARE underdeveloped and hopefully the i7 changes will balance that. Though I have to wonder how truthful that wording of "we will not make major changes to powers anymore" was now (even if its for the good).
Oh and CE vs other auras, for getting aggro and bunching/herding I think CE is better because of the slow. You can aggro a whole mob, wait till CE kicks in good, run to the next mob while the other mob tries to follow you which they cant cause of the slow. Keep repeating till you got em bunched up nice n tight and then just fire off those AoEs .
There are still good ice tanks out there, just they are rare and it is VERY player dependant. I can still tank properly even when I play a sorta gimped set.

Like I said I haven't tried other sets but I would say that ice would be the easiest to tank with in a team. All I normally do is run in, make sure that everyone is "blue around the waist," taunt any stragglers, move your position until they are all nicely bunched for AoE, then unleash fury...If chilling embrace doesn't keep all the aggro then I'm doing something wrong.

i was exactly the same!! finally got a travel power at level 30, before then i got tp'd everywhere, it may sound lazy but having all defenses asap was better for the team. I respec'd low level changes now for pvp post lvl 20 though i got haymaker at 22 and travel power at 14 but with haste speeding up my dull pain recharge not much in compromises have been made.
i7 will add survivability to an icetank playing +lvl mobs as for being more survivable than other tanks that i think will just be down to build and playstyle to suit build as always just like you say VERY player dependent.

I got a little bored and decided to mess around with my main tank after reading the post on a tank with a medicine pool. Any thoughts? (note this is just for fun)
