  1. I think next time I'm on Virtue and see the announcement for a CC, I am finally going to have Twilight Vixen model her Formal Wizardess costume that she had sent from her home world/dimension when she hit 40.

Of course, I don't expect her to win. The inf isn't important to her, since she makes her money the old fashioned way.

I just like putting my high level characters in CCs just to plant fresh ideas into new players' heads for costume designs.

Step 1: Make a character. Hot Random on the costume, or make a girl with ginormous breasts in a pink bikini and high heels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would having the Chest Slider set to somewhat average, but having the hips set a little wider than normal be acceptable as well? If not, then I guess none of my kins will ever be able to make use of this guide. A pity really, since Twlilight Vixen (my Mind/Kin) is lingering at 41 now.

    You are posting exploits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whoosh! That post went right over your head, didn't it?

[/ QUOTE ]Unless his statement is sarcasm, which it could easily be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I cast my vote for sarcasm, since there was nothing in the guide that was in violation of the game's TOS.

    Post your GUI

    Minor Kheldian Variant.

Master Mind Variant (Ah. Haven't given him Tray 5 yet, the Temp Powers/Day Job Accolades tray).

    Now THAT is irony!

(I can pretty much sing the entire opera scene.)

What opera scene? From where? Please enlighten those of us who are in the dark about whatever you are referencing.

My Bane is at 48 so far with no travel powers. I still have 1h36m on the Zero-G Pack, 1h41m on the Raptor Pack, and the full 1h30m on the Goldbricker pack. I've also got the Traveler's Jet Pack sitting at 30m, never used. I never bothered to pick up the Sky Raider one.

I only ever use them sparingly - either for a couple seconds to clear obstacles, or occasionally if the mission is particularly far away and nobody else on the team is dawdling I'll use them for the duration of the journey to the mission door

    [/ QUOTE ]

For villains, there is no need to use the Raptor Pack sparingly, since you can buy a fresh one any time in Grandville.

Heroes might want to use theirs sparingly though, as they have to wait until 40 before they can purchase a replacement in the Shadow Shard.

    I met a newbie!

    [ QUOTE ]
Yesterday I popped into KR to stop Paladin construction and saw one, a level 12 Elec/Dev with no vet badges. He kept blasting the Clockwork ambushes while four of us were pounding on the construction site, but he was having so much fun none of us had the heart to tell him he was supposed to be shooting the boring pile of scrap metal in the center.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You were both doing the right thing. Pounding on the construction keeps it from being built. Pounding on the swarms of Clockwork keeps them from beating on the heroes trying to stop the construction. This is important if there are a lot of low level heroes trying to prevent Paladin's construction, as the swarms of Clockwork could be considerably higher level than the heroes (and remember, those electric attacks they have sap the endurance rather fast.)

So anyway, the key to getting the badge is to just hang in there long enough for the Clockwork to give up (monitor npc chat for clues.) And if I remember right, you just have to be in close proximity to the construction site to get the badge, so the guy beating on the Clockwork instead of the construction should have got it.
  8. Lack of hazard zones is one of the things I really like about CoV. Ever been teamed up with a lower level hero (SKed up to you)? If so, you have most likely run into the problem that breaks the SK system. Unless you are running nothing but radio missions (or AE missions nowadays), you have probably been handed a mission that is in a hazard zone that your sidekick can't enter.

Only solutions to this are to:

1 - Abandon the arc you and your team have been enjoying and switching to boring radio missions.

2 - Continue on without your SK.

For villains, this is not a problem, since there are no level limited zones other than the RWZ and Cimerora. Neither of those are an issue, because none of the contacts outside those zones will send you on missions into either of them.

So that being said, a definite /unsigned to villain hazard zones (unless they are set up so no contacts in the other zones will send you on missions there.)

IOs are not necessary to play the game but they do let you distort your character almost beyond recognition and do things they couldn't do otherwise.

In the Blaster boards recently, a blaster with capped Ranged Defence solo'd a Rikti pylon.
Illusion Controllers use Recharge set bonuses to perma Phantom Army and go on to solo AVs and Giant Monsters.

You couldn't pull this off with just IOs, but you can still play the game. So while IO's aren't necessary, they are far from fluff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Devastation: Chance to Hold. This proc goes off pretty frequently. Put it in a Blaster's Tier 1 and 2 Primary attacks, and you will be seeing your foes do the Tesla Dance quite often. And if you are Tech Origin, it stacks nicely with your Taser dart.

This turns a Blaster into a pretty decent Blastroller. And if Energy is your secondary...picture a super long range fast recharging hold thanks to Boost Range.

Ah well, perhaps it will finally push this one out that I have had for the past day or so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey...that's mean! Now I have it stuck it MY head!

    [/ QUOTE ]

At least you got to see David Prowse in one of his most obscure performances. That's what he gets for being so wrapped up in himself that he would spurn a lovely lady who was practically throwing himself at him.
  11. My Spider will be relying only on Raptor Packs for travel. I'm already doing the same with my Mercs/Pain MM. No travel power for him. Although he does have Combat Jumping (Immobilize Protection is mandatory). Oh, and he will end up getting Super Jump at 49 after all. Reason for that is when I planned him out, I didn't see anything else to take at that point that interested me. Plus, since SJ only needs its default slot, that frees up 3 at 50 that can go into something else.

It might seem goofy for a Crab Spider to become a hero, but I want to turn a Warshade into a Nictus, dangit!

Well I want to turn a tap into a tape dangit!

Oh wait...I can! With the magic of silent 'e'.

Thanks a bunch. Now I have this song stuck in my head.

Ah well, perhaps it will finally push this one out that I have had for the past day or so.

    Easy AV?

Oh. Well you could still fight Belchy by doing Vendetti's arc via Ourburritos.

For higher level AVs, I can't offer any advice, since I've done the 40+ range with only my Fire/Dark Corruptor... And she was duoing with another Fire/Dark.
  14. Specifically, the Green Line end of Skyway.

Or if your SG has the beacon, you can set up a teleporter to Faultline, which would put you out on the roof of Yin's shoppe.
  15. Willowpaw

    Easy AV?

Lt. Belchy or whatever that Vampyre's name is? I haven't tried him as an AV, but my new DM/Electric Armor Stalker (Bow Chicka Bow Wow) totally annhilated him as an EB.

"Flavor" and "Fluff" have minimal to no effect on gameplay. They're seat covers or fuzzy dice in a car. They're the description text on items. They do little to nothing to a character's performance - and, yes, all the temp items and such that are part of the varying packs really do *nothing* all that noticeable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not all fuzzy dice are mere fluff.
  17. Since neither GM can defeat the other, they should fix them to where they only look like they are duking it out (like with some of the thugs you see in the streets in other zones), but never actually doing any damage to each other.

    Mistrust

    [ QUOTE ]
I am an unabashed twinker of toons, and one way to give a new character a grubstake is to have an advanced one place an expensive piece of salvage or a crafted enhancement in SG base storage. The new toon then collects and sells the item at next log-in.

This may not be the most efficient method, but it's fairly risk-free, unless your SG is a bunch of thieves. (Which is why I only allow murderers in mine.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

When my high level characters are out roaming the streets, I will often save all the high level SOs I get as drops and put them in one of my group's enhancement bins (I call it The Feedbag). Then I log in a lowbie, pick up a full rack of SOs, and sell them at a vendor. That is generally enough to get me through the teens.

    Costume creator?

    [ QUOTE ]
ZI, you don't seriously think JUST having green skin and purple pants, all by itself, would void a character's originality, do you? It sounds like you do- and I'm pretty sure in the eyes of the GM's, it wouldn't, unless the character had a name overtly similar to Hulk. Which is far from a given.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Here is an example to help illustrate your point. As is obvious, the little Goblin on the left despite having green skin and purple pants does not bear any resemblance to the Hulk. So you are quite correct in that green skin and purple pants does not automatically mean a Hulk ripoff.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
If IOs are not fluff, what happened to the whole "You only need SOs argument?"

By claiming that IOs are not fluff, we are thereby admitting that this game has gone beyond "SOs are all you need" and that the power curve is now higher than what a normal 8 toon SO'ed team can achieve.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even though IOs are allegedly not required for effective character building, they still have an effect on gameplay in a way that costume pieces and little temp powers do not. Therefore, IOs are not fluff.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I also went to PI but most of the ones I saw there were 42, 43 and up and I wasn't in the mood for multiple hospital visits just for a costume slot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this was on a scrapper as one of your many posts in this thread indicated, +2 and +3 Nemis should have been child's play for you.

I remember my last couple of characters who did that mission were my Fire/Energy Blaster and my Ice/Rad Controller, both squishies compared to most any scrapper. Both had a fairly easy time and got some good loot street hunting in PI. Several of the spawns they took on included both a Warhulk and a Fake Nemi. If those two could handle it...
  22. Alternatively, you can get started on a Nemesis arc. I know there is at least one available in your level range. The Nemis you kill in those missions (not counting Automatons) give credit toward your Band Geek quota.

Otherwise, why not hunt them in PI? Surely you can find plenty in your level range (say 40-42 or 43). Not only would they fulfill your quota, but you would also get XP and potential loot from them as well.

Oh, just remembered, you can also find plenty Nemesis of a wide range of levels in the Rikti War Zone.

There's also Nemis in FF. They may not be as numerous as Crey tards, but they are there. I know there's one particular Nemesis Sniper between the Vanguard base and the Hospital that I like blowing away whenever I see him.

What, do you have something against such a minor little change for a little more consistency with the type of things we are summoning?

I mean, they obviously felt it wasn't right to be used for the Bot MM, so why not use the animation for that for the other tech style summons?

[/ QUOTE ]As I recall, Shivans use the same "cast" animation, and hey are decidedly not magic.

Then again, pretty much all super powers stem from Pandora's Box, which is magical as far as we know, so...

    [/ QUOTE ]

That reminds me of something else I noticed not too long ago. The Undead Slaying Axe apparently works on Shivans. So, while they are not magical they are somehow affected by something that is only supposed to affect True Undead (which according to the in game definition means magically created undead). Maybe there is a bit of magic in their nature that we are as of yet unaware of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shivans, while affected like True Undead, only take 60% of the additional damage.

So perhaps they are partially undead after all?

Some of us didn't forget. Some, such as myself simply ignored that bit since picking only one was truly impossible.

It's not like mines are capable of chasing you. Mimes on the other hand...

You know, it's easy to get the mimes off you. Just put up an invisible box around them.
