This is my current build, which I am painstakingly slotting up with IOs and Hamis... it's dull, thankless and horrendously expensive. It's also more focussed towards the Statesman TF because I tried it with my old Kat/SR/Body Mastery build and could not 'control' groups as I usually can in non-TF PvE. Also the extra hold with Petrifying Gaze allows me to slot the IO set bonus 'reduce fear duration' which those who've done the TF will understand!

Obviously use your commong sense when it comes to power picking but that's it. As far as slotting goes, forget it - I'm rubbish at that!

    Base wish list

Right, I'm sure this has been mentioned - but not just split bases! I would like the chance to 'upgrade' tot a 2-level base, with a lift as standard. That way you could effectively keep 'downstairs' for sotrage etc and upstairs for the social areas that obviously no-one wants*.

*that was a cheap dig at the Dev who had 'not considered bases for social interaction' compared to the number of people, including non-RP'ers, who are impressed when a base has a bar and/or relaxation area.

So, my top priority wish is to have 2-level bases with an elevator as standard (not a power/control issue, if at all possible)
  3. Arctic Princess lv 50 Kat/SR/Body (no vengeance)

Plenty of defence debuff for Mako, a few ranged attacks for Ghost Widow, Focussed Accuracy and the ability to attack things until they fall down
  4. Greetings Unionites.

My pal Aethelric (who never posts, naughty boy) and I have opened the doors to other heroes with our Supergroup The Titan Vanguard.

I'm putting the feelers out to the community to see if there's anyone left who would perhaps like to join who isn't already in an SG ir perhaps would like to get
    involved.

This is also a post requesting tips on organising events. So far I can think of Task Forces and badge hunts but I'm sure there's much more to it than that.

We've got a lovely base (so long as Aethelric doesn't keep doing stuff to it) with good connections and an area for storage and we're working on plans to upgrade when we've got enough active members. As I'm a 'casual' RP'er the invitation extends to others who might like to dip their feet in the murky pool that is RP on Union.

So, if you're already a member then say hi, if you'd like to join then say so and if you've got ideas I can nic--- I mean, experiences I can learn from - then, well, say hi
  5. For anyone who is interested, Scarlet Slicer and Whirling Dervish will be undertaking the Second Respecification Trial, starting in Founders' Falls around lunchtime-ish.

I know it's a bit short notice but, heck, I've been meaning to organise a few trials and TFs for a while so, hopefully, this'll get me back into the swing of things.

Scarlet Slicer is a Kat/SR Scrapper
Whirling Dervish is a Earth/Storm Controller

We're both level 36 so, preferably, other characters around the level without skewing it too much would be appreciated.

Please respond and I'll keep tabs on the thread. Remember, the Respec trial begins in Founders' Falls, so bring your anti-sniper gear...
  6. JoveTech Corporation (Rogue Isles) HQ

"Mr. Ramguard, sir, your reports are ready for the meeting."

A large-framed man wearing a white suit, top hat and puffing on a cigar smiles crookedly at his secretary.

"Thanks Juna. This should make for interesting reading."

The report outlines all the latest goings on in Kings Row, Paragon City: Clockwork activity is low due to an influx of new heroes; The 'Thorns are also making themselves scarce - that will need to be looked into; In fact, a general decrease in crime - Kings must be on the up again.

Mr. Ramguard picks up his 'other' cellphone from his desk and makes a call to a stockbroker friend, who owes him a favour:

"I'd like to arrange a meeting with our mutual acquaintance at City Hall - it's time I invested in the future of Kings Row. Tell him to get the bulldozers ready."

Ramguard laughs, a sickly gurgle sounding in the back of his throat.

    Titan Vanguard HQ

A television monitor shows a local news report about the recent petition rewrite - a faceless official is seen talking to a reporter about their hopes for a bright future and the excitement of the children at an Atlas Park school who are going to dress up as their favourite super heroes and canvass signatures.

"I thought it was just them boy scouts, or whatever, doing the beggin'?" a pointy-eared man sat glued to the screen whilst his companion for the day, a blue-skinned woman, lounged reading a magazine.

"I'm sure it'll all blow over, Prom. These things tend to."

"I wonder if I qualify to sign this petition?"

    "Are you registered then?"

"Technically, yes - after I was cautioned by the police for arresting a bunch of thugs without a licence. 'Course I didn't tell them that I'd clobbered them with no intention of arresting them but... well, seemed like a good gig."

The blue-skinned woman sighs, "Well, if you think it'll make a difference..."

"I dunno why I even asked you, you're not even an Earthling!"

    "So you'll do it then?"

"Yeah, why not? Might make a few young ones sit up and take notice. Yes, I will do it, I'm gonna sign the petition... after this programme's finished."
  7. [ QUOTE ]

I'd like to know how many people out there do not intend to take part in the Heroes Among Us (or whatever) plot? If it's as few as I think it is, I'll be quitting the game in all likelyhood.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
I have an entirely OOC objection to plots like this, and this one in particular, and being forced to take part in it or do no roleplaying leaves me with little option.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm - I'm not entirely sure what the big gripe is about a plot that someone else is doing.

I'm also not entirely sure of the validity of claiming that either it will force someone to quit a game; or indeed being forced to participate or face no roleplay.

The more I think about it, this thread seems to have been designed purely for the purpose of trying to get the plot shut down to the detriment of those who want to run it and play it. I'm almost 100% sure that if someone were to respond to this that I'll be told that everyone's opinion is different and that I've seen it the wrong way but, to be honest, that still ain't gonna change how I feel.

The main purpose of my posting this is to clarify that I feel it a terrible shame that what, for all intents and purposes is supposed to be a fun game with an open-RP environment, is often derailed in the name of 'RP-proper' by people who do think it's their right to criticize everyone else and not have anyone come back to them on it.

Well, controlled rant over. I will enjoy seeing how this plot turns out - perhaps it'll give me some ideas to fire my imagination up for future stories, plots and experience.
  8. Welcome to my world! Earth/Storm is so far, imho, the combination that makes me feel 'super'.

Damage wise you won't see many returns and it's arguably not worth it to slot any damage on your primary, with the exception of the slow and reticent Animate Stone pet.

I've a mind to take Assault at some point just to see if it can speed things up a little with my pet (and at 38 when I get Lightning Storm) with a view to respeccing out powers that no longer 'work'.

Enhancement-wise you may find that the combo is also a little kinder on the wallet when it comes to buying DOs and SOs but YMMV. I say this because a lot of the powers are auto-hit (or enviromental) and because I have quicksand (3-slotted for slow) PLUS snow-storm, I tend to use Quicksand defensively to guard a bottleneck and Snow Storm to bring down those pesky fliers (and subsequently only drop in the one EndRed - thus giving me more slots for other powers such as Earthquake and Stalactites).

In teams, Gale can be useful (trust me) in picking up stragglers and forcing them into your debuff zones but other than that it's a poo power. On the plus side this means you don't have to slot it and, as I only use it in panic situations, I just drop the one accuracy enhancement in it.

Before I drool over my keyboard at the thought of all that control I wish you all the best with your Earth/Storm 'troller

    [ QUOTE ]
If it's supposed to be top secret and only possible to know through the right contacts then why have you written it where everyone can read it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Possibly because it makes no sense to 'know' someone by right-clicking their avatar and reading some info? The person in question may have been new to RPing or just used to a different way of doing things.

Although it is annoying if it happens, just simply send a tell to said person. On my first ever venture into Roleplaying I did the same thing with a character by calling him by his first name. People make mistakes, just send em a quick tell and then it's just as easy to 'forget' it.

Oh and in case this is taken the wrong way: Pretendy Fun-Time Game
  10. I have Elude slotted with three Defence and three recharge and it gives me few problems

Against AVs and Purples in general, they'll always hit you at some point, even with Elude running - Elude notably boosts your run speed too so ti means, in the worst case scenario, you can run away from trouble.

If in doubt, get a FF/ or /FF to team with you
  11. Also, depending on travel power, Quickness will boost your movement speed meaning you don't have to double/treble slot anything. I have put a flight speed enhancement in quickness and one in flight, making me fairly nippy in the air - enough for team missions at any rate.

I shall post my current build but can only really agree with others, especially Tsu - take all of the powers in SR and you'll find the 30-50 path a breeze because of damage avoidance.

I also tend to put a couple of end reducs in the toggle shields as they help reduce the drain when I'm soloing - although like most toggles you don't need all of them on at once depending on the enemies you face.

*goes off to find where he put his Kat/SR build*
  12. Arctic Princess - scrapper (Kat/SR/Body) and lag queen (king irl, before anyone smirks and makes comments ) will be there. I'm unfortunately too laggy and low-tech to make an effective perimeter guard but, heck, my first raid last week was soooo good I just can't miss out on the next one

Enough of the subtle hints guys! Tell us how you really feel.

FFM - unless you actually have a job as a moderator then please butt out. Jeez.
  14. Verily, it would

The forums on NaNoWriMo seem jolly friendly. I'm impressed that they've divided up the regions into places outside of the US too. I was able to select Brighton, even!

Well, care not what your novel turns out like - remember this: Jilly Cooper still manages to get published - and this is the very same woman who, in her book Apassionata, managed to use something like twelve pages for the 'cast list'. And that was in the hardback edition.

Oh, and a 'friend' read it.... *coughs*
  15. Against my better judgement (which I appear to have misplaced) I have signed up to the writing thingy...

It should be fun. I've always had ideas floating around so it's time to hook out my archives of Word Documents with the beginnings, middle and endings of half-finished ideas and, perhaps, turn 'em into something!

Oh and it will probably be loosely-related to Superhero antics, but doubtless not set in Paragon or its environs.

Oh and FG? X bottles of beer on the wall is fine - but what's their motivation for being there? Where is the wall. What lead them to being there. Why must they be drunk, what do they think?!! Will someone please think of the bottles!
  16. The wings I have planned for my Kheldian will be a natural part of the human form - the character as he stands now looks like an everyman on the street. He wears glasses, so when he shoots energy from his eyes he would, naturally, lower his glasses a lá Superman.

Kheldians, as far as I know, don't have to bond with 'pure' human hosts (i.e. from Earth).

Paramilitary Force Threatens City's Power Plant

    [/ QUOTE ]

City Officals are once again calling on our faithful Hero community to prevent another takeover of the Terra Volta nuclear plant.

Speaking from outside City Hall, councillor Jasper Connaught urged the Hero community to tackle the threat that a paramilitary group, calling themselves the Sky Raiders, is posing to the City's infrastructure.

Rumours are, naturally, circulating that a group of SERAPH scientists are being held hostage. No reports have been made to back this up and there are, as yet, no demands for ransom.

Hero operatives are advised to contact Jane Hallaway in Independence Port for a full briefing before attempting rescue missions.

A SERAPH spokesman said earlier today, "The nuclear reactor inside Terra Volta is potentially volatile. We would not expect any new operatives to be able to tackle this problem and have therefore asked for a security check to be carried out on any hero operatives wishing to contribute their services. Guards will be checking Hero IDs and no operatives under Security Level 24 will be admitted into the complex."

Police are urging the citizens of Paragon...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ************************************************** **********

Arctic Princess is arranging for a team of heroes to help out at the reactor. Please leave your details here. (Name, AT, Powers, Security Level)

Due to the critical situation and potential interception of data, a date and time will have to be decided upon by mutual agreement.

The Sky Raiders may be small in number but they still pose a great threat to the safety of the City.
  18. They always come back!

Hurrah, it was lovely to see the scotbot at GG and, well, I've had a few ideas for a suitable villain (not enough slots, damn you Workers of Eastern Europe, damn you I say!)
  19. Wings don't have to be a part of the character's physiology - they can be purely decorative (fancy dress, for example)

Secondary and Tertiary mutations can lead to the development of wings - plus rolling a new character and playing them with wings (albeit not visible until 20) would work, imho.

I doubt Princess will ever get a pair of wings and I'm not even considering the trenchcoat (*gasps in shock*) but my Peacebringer will most-certainly have them. Especially if auras are to encompass the wings!

Also, going back to the point about new characters - I believe I can finally make a go of certain characters when wings appear. I had a concept for a bird-boy which may well now get the go ahead on the Villainous side.

In short, there's no 'sensible' way to explain wings other than personal choice of you, the player. I'm sure that we'll see many characters developing wings because, well, you have to admit that they look cooool, and with the new flight animations also coming up - well, I'm not sure another string of Os is needed

Super heroes are always having costume changes and they often reflect a change in the character's experiences and immediate need (battle armour being a popular one which I myself have tried out and liked)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
"well done for passing all the tests to become a policeman" present.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Holy carp, they let you in?

    *shakes with fear*...

Well, at least you can still post on here, the very lifeblood of the community. Touch wood everything will be okay by the end of October - if not then just release those pictures of Bridger and RockJaw and demand your 5th slot. You know the ones I mean...
  21. I remember last Christmas being accosted by a jolly Santa type - I was playing as a female character (an android, as a matter of fact) and was asked to sit on his knee. My reward? Influence!

Now, the point of this is I am not underage, inexperienced or naive (Well, I don't think I am...) and to be honest the whole episode was done in a nice way with no real seedy undertones. I am, of course, a man in real life and these little happenings always make me laugh.

On a slightly different note, when Villains came out I rolled a lady dominator called Psionara and was chatted up by some (I assume male) bloke. We 'flirted' - me with a real life wry smile - and then he tried cyber with me...
Needless to say I was still amused but at that point I just had to tell him that I was a twenty-four year old man (at the time) and that it might not be appropriate, even in tells, to do that kind of thing.

Recently I was in Outbreak, rolling yet another ill-fated toon, and I came across a character called 'Queen of the G*ays'. So, I sidled up to him and politely 'telled' "I assume you're [censored] then?"

To which I got the response: "No!!" (I imagined an alarmed teenager going "ZOMG!")

I replied: "Well, the problem is, I am. You're lucky that I found it funny but other people might not be so happy with the character."

So, if anyone has seen the above-mentioned character then please do take a picture !
  22. Hello again.

Just to clarify - I did have fun

And what is happening with Citadel's face at the moment? Maybe his Praetorian counterpart has stolen it?...

Thank you all for a good Task Force and, thank whomever that it's out of the way. Ah well, I guess it's just Council-sickness and repetitive maps what makes it less exciting than the others. Barring Posi, naturally
  23. Well, we did it. And, to me, it felt less like fun and more like a slog. Plus Ana wasn't there which made a difference.

Still, if anyone has a nice screenie of us at the end then please post here (tradition and all that).

If anyone would like to organise the Hess Task Force then knock yourselves out!

The next TF will be Manticore but, judging by levels and availability (Shen/DoD/Ana/Starlit) this won;t be until Christmas!

So, folks, have a well-earned rest and watch for posts on the next thrilling Task Force from AP....

    ))
  24. Thank you for replies.

I shall be returning to GG shortly (as Kata)
  25. Very entertaining - I especialy enjoyed the Viking Man.
