Right ive been playing my Kat/SR scrapper on and off now for a few weeks now. I have just got stamina (thanks the heavens!) but im not certain where to take the build now?

Any help or comments on my build below would be great (fyi im trying to come up with a good 50/50 build for pve and pvp).

01) Sting of Wasp
01) Focus Fighting
02) Flashing Steel
04) Focus Senses
06) Hasten
08) Divine Avalanch
10) Practical Brawler
12) Combat Jumping
14) Super Jump
16) Swift
18) Health
20) Stamina
22) Quickness

This is the build so far but I am really new to the SR set so as I said above any help would be great.

Believe it or not, I picked every single SR power, as all together, slotted for endurance and defence smartly, they provide some serious damage avoidanace!!!

Add on Divine avalanche as well and it can be a hugely powerful set. You can also three slot practiced brawler with recharge SO's and make it stack so that its always on, which against some of the stuff you fight in the upper ranges that love to throw Mezzes your way is superb!!!

Ok so what ive put to gether so far is ok? I wasnt sure if id taken the wrong power at 22.

Quickness is a very nice power to have, definitely the right power to take! The build looks fine, it's the same as what I took up to 22 on my Kat/SR and it's worked ok for me.

Incidentally, with Quickness you only need 2xRecharge in Practiced Brawler for it to be permanent.

Thanks, any suggestions for the later part of the build? I have to say now that stamina is there the scrapper is much more fun but still a little squishey.

So far so good Miss

if you need help with slotting let me know and i'll set up some builds for you, and I think Phil will help you where needed, PvP wise

Once you're SO'ed up I don't think you'll have as much trouble.
I find Aid Self is very useful on defense-based toons... it'd certainly boost your survivability.

You certainly won't go wrong with taking Katana's big two attacks (at 26 and 32) and SR's Elude at 38.

What does everyone feel about Agile and/or Dodge?

Well so far im happy with the scrapper she seems to dish out alot of dmg even with just 3 atks (now fully SO'd) but the last part of the build is giving me some grief.

Some post lv20 builds would be nice, and I will defo ask Phil when I see him online.

Also, depending on travel power, Quickness will boost your movement speed meaning you don't have to double/treble slot anything. I have put a flight speed enhancement in quickness and one in flight, making me fairly nippy in the air - enough for team missions at any rate.

I shall post my current build but can only really agree with others, especially Tsu - take all of the powers in SR and you'll find the 30-50 path a breeze because of damage avoidance.

I also tend to put a couple of end reducs in the toggle shields as they help reduce the drain when I'm soloing - although like most toggles you don't need all of them on at once depending on the enemies you face.

*goes off to find where he put his Kat/SR build*

I would be very appreciative of a build just to see how mine compares atm.

I do have to say after looking at the SR set it would seem all are needed but then again n00b at SR lol.

Katana/SR is a really fun combo both PvE and PvP. Its the first toon I really properly PvPed with.

Unlike most people I find Aid self much more useful than the autos (especially when you have a +def power like divine avalanche), it really lowers your downtime and slotted with 2 interupt reduces it very rairly gets interupted.

What is really great about SR is that if you carry purples with you, you get god mod whenever you like. Bringing a tray full of purples meant I could herd on my BS/SR with little risk and I didnt use elude very much at all (very unlike my first SR when I practically had it on auto ). So by carrying purples for tough sections, mobs, using Divine avalanche as much as possible and taking aid self you will find it very easy to level. Also having bubblers or empath in your team will give you that perma elude feeling too

This is my latest build which is more PvE and Sirens friendly than my pure arena build which had 3 attacks and DA Its also more of a concept build with the taunt and weapons mastery but its a good starting point

Thats a really nice build i love the idea of Weapon mastery on a Kat/SR, slotting looks good enough.
I would of personally of taken caltrops for a PVE timebuyer (nice under people who are in over their heads feet) and to not have to chuck shuriken at someone cos its low damage if i had to, as the melee attacks do better.
Caltrops in PVP may help prevent someone elses aid self from happening. It will on 1 interrupt for sure. But I'd still of wanted to keep the shurikens and webgrenade.
Calling of the wolf is somit like 4 secs recharge and 2 rechg slots may not be ultimately as good as 2 taunt slots or range but imo 4 secs is good enough.

Well at lv24 I think id prob take Lotus Drops instead of combat jumping since its in my build already at this point. I have always thought about the Weapon Mastery set but everyone seems to say its not very good, so I have never used it (has anyone? for opinions sake?).

Calling the Wolf, well ive never been a fan of a scrapper with taunt powers so I defo wont be taking this. Its just a personal pref but I can see its uses in arena matchs to keep agro off your partner etc....

Thanks for all the help peeps and more comments will also be appreciated, my later build is starting to look good so I will post it here soon

A couple of slow powers... PB not recharged... mezzed... dead...

Practiced Brawler is Perma without Quickness.

PB base: 200.00 seconds
PB Duration: 120.00 seconds

PB with 2 recharge: 120.05 seconds

Quickness just adds a 20% seconds overlap.

Final Figures:
==============
Practiced Brawler (base): 200.00 seconds
Practiced Brawler (duration): 120.00 seconds

With Quickness: 107.18 seconds
With Hasten: 84.53 seconds
With Quickness/Hasten: 77.94 seconds

The only thing you'll suffer with is the fact most other things don't fire/recharge, but generally PB is always recharged or running sumwhere regardless, and with Quickness you have a slight RES to (slow) anyway, which is usually enough to counter the majority of situations -- unless you get jam packed, in which case you no better off than most ATs, and you'll be hoping your DEF is as good as you hoped.

I can see why you'd say that. But does this mean the general consensus is to take agile and/or dodge?

As said above, with Quickness there is a 13 second overlap, plus it provides 40% resistance to recharge debuffs. The extra slot really isn't worth it, in my opinion.

Well its upto you what ya want, no one else can tell you what you want, what you think and how you like things. Whatever your looking to do you have to go for that.

One of my best mates has weaponry on his kat/regen and hes been very happy not everyone will be the same. Philosophers build is a suggestion and nothing more.

You can get on test server with anytoon and come up with numerous builds and use respecs till you find something your own.

I have alot of toons, if they all felt the same in playing, had to play the same way, deal with problems the same way or if all my scrappers picked the same epics itll be poo for me.

I dont like dark mastery conceptually on any scrapper but thats it my only reason for not having that one. Body mastery buffs what you got in a way and the other epics offer you tools to play with.

Yeah I suppose your right its just nice some times to have views on a Power set that you havent used from people that have. Gives me things to think about that I might/or wouldnt have even thought about.

I like Phils build alot but im not going to put Stimulate or Aid self in purely because I agree with Raziel that you dont really need a self heal power on a SR scrapper.

I am on the other hand very interested and if not a little intrigued about the Weapon Mastery set. My scrapper Sophie is MA/Regen and she took the Body mastery set which is good but not for all toons imo, so it would b enice to try some thing diffrent as you said.

After playing a Regen and a PB I couldnt handle playing something without a self-heal but thats just me

I find weapons mastery fits in very well conceptually and the ranged attacks have quick activation times and the AoE does good damage

I kite AVs with mine so giving myself an occasional heal is a good idea. She is also claws and so cant get the melee def buff you can with parry. In PVP the world and his mum may hit ya easily too and so its good there too.

Well after playing my kat/sr in both PvE and PvP taking in account tips from Raz - thanks again for giving me the push I needed to make it :P

I will post my build up soonish.
I took all the SR powers EXCEPT Lucky as I find there is no point in it. This is simply because of the HUGE def buff Evasion gives something like 34.X % on its own iirc. Also I suggest getting CJ and slotting it for def aswell

I do think aid self is useful BUT dont go out of your way to get it. In SC you'll think its great, but once you hit WB (If you chose to PvP with it) Elude changes everything I slap it on as soon as its up and the only time I get killed with it is by some lucky shot or a big ol' blaster who managed to get a shot through. So while aid self would be great getting rid of SR powers to get it isnt adviseable imo.

Also I would forget about flashing steel if your going to PvP or PvE aswell I'd swap it for Lotus Drops as it is a great attack to stop stalkers placate - as, also it is easier to use to groups, flashing steel they all have to be in the right place to get a cone hit.

I'll post my build like I said (I think) but its not complete yet. Hope you like my suggestions
