BS with anything non-def based although /sr and /sd work. You can sub out Parry after you soft cap on those two. MA works with a number of things, but /dark gives stacking stuns. Any of the secondaries with a damage aura helps fill in for MA's general lack of AoE.

RI has minimal use in end game play due to a number of reasons like super sidekicking, IOs, and incarnates. Stuff simply doesn't live long enough to make the animation time worth it the vast majority of the time. By the time you find a target that will last long enough it's usually on a target the resists the debuff effect rather well. It's great for leveling up and while solo, but it can pretty much just sit in your tray unused for end game stuff.

Ice/ice blaster, or DP + Traps would be options. I like Traps over /dev for something to pair with DP for more natural shooter. Ice/ice still ranks as my favorite blaster. It's a safe and solid build. It adds in control aspects with a shooter class and it would be a good way to ease her into the idea of a controller as well.

Until proven otherwise, the best farm times for controllers come from Fire/kins. For me Plant works best with debuffing sets so I would pair it with /storm, or /ta. I just hit 50 on my Plant/storm and it's one of the most fun rides I had to 50.

Since I already have the alpha slot unlocked on one of my guys I likely would just have that one unlock it for others. It's like giving me the ability to unlock the Midnighter's Club for my other guys. It's just an arc I would rather skip and get to the good part.

And yet Ice gets no love.

Freedom and Virtue have a big enough player base where you can do things outside of trials and WTF. There is still a mentality within the player base that it's nearly all incarnate stuff, or nothing and that's what I was referring to. I can go on a smaller server and try to do regular teams. If I use the channels, I might get one person to join me. I can fill in from the search window, but it isn't much better.

Quote:Agreeing to both of these. I took a Kin/nin stalker through there and it felt incredibly fast to me for leveling. I'm really not of fan of the animations with Shield so mine is sitting while I play other alts. The problem I have with KM/Shield is that you seem to lose some of the KM flavour with one handed animations.

Quote:I'm doing this by scanning the build thread, or people post their build elsewhere. I'm ok with grabbing a build if the powers are close enough to what I want and I trust the poster who did the build.I think that's a perfectly reasonable plan. Some people seem to want other people to figure everything out and make their own build, but I see no problem with grabbing someone else's good build if all you want to do is to PLAY something great.
For the OP, here's a couple of links to look at.
Enhancements Sets It list all of the IO sets in the game.
Enhancement values This gives the actual values of enhancements based on their level and now many aspects they buff. The chart is towards the bottom. -
Quote:Here's is what I'm talking about it being "balanced."Also, several of you have said EA is "balanced", but from the context of your post I think you mean "UN-balanced". Being balanced is a good thing, unbalanced is bad.
Quote:Let's start with Energy Aura for Brutes and Stalkers. Energy Aura has had a poor reputation from the start, and while it is "balanced" with the other protective powersets using the original metrics, it has been shown that those metrics did not take certain key factors into consideration - namely Regeneration and Healing effects. -
As long as both sets are equally IOed out, I think it's down to how well the player uses the click powers.

Quote:They do the easiest ones first. The others simply fall under "we just haven't gotten to them yet."The developers rarely tell players reasons for why they proliferate some power sets and not others.
Quote:Ice Armor for Brutes: commented on back during CoV beta. Ice Armor's slows didn't work as expected. Players argue that the methods of playing Brutes have changed with IO's alone, never-minding the change to Fury generation in I18.
Quote:As far as I am aware the only power-sets that have received developer comment on are:Quote:Illusion Control for Dominators: I believe this has been shot down multiple times in the closed beta forums when power-proliferation are tested and somebody makes the inevitable request. Not going to go into the reasons here since this is a pretty-sore point for many players.
Quote:Energy Aura for Scrappers / Tanks: The developers have admitted that Energy Aura is an Under-performing set and have explicitly stated it never worked like they thought it would.
And this has less truth behind it than the people predicting the end of the world on May 21st. At least they did some math. -
I was thinking about the lack of guides as of late and I figured if one was to do one the writer would need to do a break down of all of the possible IO builds for the power set. They would go through and list why you would want that set, or not, and list what you might want from a set if you are just taking partial amounts. I think there should be a build for non-purples(mid-to-low range), a purple build(high range), and then an infinite one that has PvP IOs in it was well. I have way too many characters to sit down and invest in anything more than non-purple builds. I think it would be good to include ways to earn the more expensive IOs via merits and A-merits and their respective cost. The market is too unstable to list specific prices in that regard.

They just haven't done them. I'm curious how as is it is ported due to the devs seeming to not want scrappers to be aggro generators compared to tanks and brutes and that's what Ice is best for.

Between the two I would pick Virtue if I was starting out. The taint of power gaming farmers is at it's peek on Freedom. Virtue has some of it, but not nearly as bad. Virtue is active enough it's not that far off from Freedom either. It's not surprising to see Virtue red and Freedom yellow.

I got stuck on this, contacted support, and followed the link they sent me. I added the needed pack shortly after that.
P.S. Sony says "Hi." -
The powers team never said it was WAI. After a Q&A person said it was WAI, it was later clarified that it was being looked at. Back in the day the controller epics were doing too much damage. The player base even admitted as such during beta. It went live as is and they were deemed WAI. About 6 issues later, the epics get nerfed because in the end they found out those powers were too powerful. In short, to raise issue with this is completely ignoring this game's history in changes. Hell, I saw this type of change coming from a mile away.
