Really, Sam? I'm not adding to doom over CoX because it is where it is, and I want good things to come to this product ( in no small measure because my wife still loves it and it's still our only sub'd mmo ).

But unless you call Freedom or Virtue home, there's no masking the low server activity compared to just one year ago.

  3. ps, RoughneX you're a Rays fan, no way, I hope you live here in the Bay area because a non-Floridian Rays fan is, well, you know where I'm going with this. =()

  6. NCSoft has made a followup to ..................

..was going to suggest CoH2 would revitalize the brand, but who the hell knows what a company in this economy will do with a niche mmo, even one with a steady following.

It isn't commensurate with the weeks and months of toiling the Devs put in preparing content, but unfortunately some of what comes out feels like reworked parts of the existing game.

And something that really seemed brand new and buzzworthy like MA got bad PR over banhammer threats because players abused it's intended purpose.

So a Q to Q drop isn't some grand revelation for an mmo brand that's going on seven years.

Just play the game if you like it and don't get dooomish when less then appealing numbers come out because it's unlikely there's going to be any big upticks for this brand unless a sequel comes out.

That's all you need to know, and anything someone tells you to the contrary tell them to suck it.

Controllers can make Defenders less useful, Scrappers make Blasters less useful and so on.
With the right buffs anything can Tank, but that isn't the point, do you like being Thor wielding pain in the middle of 16 adversaries all by yourself, then most players hero side play a Tank.

And besides that, a Tank being the least likely to be defeated without buffs can have a very large roll on a team when it's played right, with even damage being raised considerably with set slotting.
  8. qr, you can never have enough Endurance, and SD comes with it's own great aoe damage which makes the need for fireball in pyre less necessary, so I'd go with Energy and fully slot up Physical Perfection with an End set if you can afford the slots.

real quick reply, I wouldn't take either as there are so many effective powers to slot and while TC is a heck of alota fun, it and Flash require you to be p/b and if you're running Hurricane they're less effective (since you're pushing mobs away), and Flash's recharge is way to long.
Spectral Terror slotted up can be more effective then those two choices and give some nice bonuses from some cheap IO sets.
    Back to work. =T

That pretty much describes Illusion, and having had a 50 ill/storm myself for some time now I can tell ya it's an offensive set that can be very fun, and messy, which you'll need to look out for on a team. It's also a monster on TF's, especially the STF where your spawns can keep the repair men at bay almost by yourself.

If you need slotting ideas just post a build sometime.

  13. A step closer to Going Rogue.

Oh Ultra Mode is shiny goodness, and leaning over at my wife's pc I notice she's having a blast on that brand new set AR/Cold Corr. ..
  14. I would go with Mace for two reasons, Clobber and Crowd Control, the former is a potent s/t attack since it's buff, and the latter is like a mini footstomp and it's just plain fun.

There are numbers to back that up, but everyone's pretty much covered that, no need to bore you.
    Have fun.

Yeah this isn't where anyone wants to drag this out, but SC is so much more dominating then Burn is in virtually all practical situations.

With the introduction of SD Fiery Aura has been in need of an update, which I have no interest in trying to push, however on the flip side Castle is as likely to just tame SC (longer recharge/fewer max targets etc) if someone had the desire to push the topic.

I guess we'll reasonably wait to see where the cards fall after Incarnates and GR.

    Someone Stop Me.

A good solid ban now and then is good for the soul, so XPP tells me.

Though try as I may I've never been able to snag one, not even post #1 being a drunken expletive laden novel about what a repetitive borefest States had created.

If at first you don't succeed Force..

i4 Burn is dead, and Castle's unlikely to RotP.

You know I meant to add a disclaimer because in six years and unknown times the topic has come up, there's inevitably the counter point added when I offer my view of RotP.

It's a power that some players even love, but my personal choice is never to take it, in fact I hate the concept for a Tanker.

Of course through the years I've tested it thoroughly, fully slotted etc, and have never, not one time, wished it was on my live build. My personal choice and playstyle.

I will add that in context with the title's stated goal, RotP isn't exactly going to help him meet those ends. ;]

To OP's query, I'll post the f/a side of my burn tank, but if you were building precisely to survive Physical Perfection would replace Pyre Mastery.

With the added support of all the Accolades this build has solo tanked Recluse and held Hami aggro alone for a number of raids in the past with no deaths (w/ healer in tow of course).
    Hope it helps.
