Hey. Just started playing and the streets are empty! Can't find a single guy to team up with!

I think i saw someone fly by , but he was gone in an instant.

Anybody wants a new teammate?

While Champion does have people from all over the world, it is a west coast server. Which makes this time of morning a little quiet. It will ramp up slowly and is usually pretty hopping at nights. Try to get to the Champion BMT channel (will need an invite).

Hey, welcome to the game and the Champion server.

Lower population servers often look a lot emptier than they are because of how heavily-instanced CoH is.

People used to do a lot of street hunting but there were a number of changes made to make missions more appealing, so now almost everyone does missions instead.

I'd recommend either forming up your own teams using the teammate search feature ingame or using one of the global channels.

I see stuff forming up all the time in BMT of Champion or Champions United. Joining one (or both) of these is a great way to get a lot of teaming action.

You can either send an offline tell to one of the mods of the channel you want to join and they can send you an invite, or post your global here and I'm sure one of them will read it and shoot you an invite.

Mods on a lot for BMT are: @Myrmydon, @Cobalt Azurean, @Miz Nibbles, @Force, @Starfire. There's a few more but I forget (sorry guys ) I dunno who the mods are for Champions United, but like BMT there are a fair few.

Welcome both to City of Heroes and the Champion server.

Unlike other MMOGs such as World of Warcraft, most of City of Heroes' content is instanced, so you really won't see too many people walking, leaping, or flying about. At least outside of Atlas Park, anyway. Your best bet is to use a combination of the search interface, and global channels. I highly recommend joining the BMT of Champion global channel, which is used to form strike / task forces, hunt giant monsters, and other such server events. It's a good way to find teammates, at least until you get on to a good supergroup.

Send a tell to @Cobalt Azurean or @Force for an invitation to BMT of Champion.

Just to add to what others have said, don't let the number of people on the street give you the impression that the server is empty. We are a very active community and every one pretty much know (from global name at least) every one else.

To help you find people, join the global channels mentioned. Also if you didn't know, to send a "tell" (private message) to someone like Amy offered simply type : /t %name%, message so for example you could send this to Amy:
/t @amygdala, Hey I found my student card!!!!!

This will send it to her global name so any character she is currently playing ( heroes or vilains) will receive the message. You can also send it directly to a specific character by replacing the name.

/t Dex Laroche, can you help me with all you awesomeness??

Welcome, and if your need and dont see anyone .. Might be that your in Galaxy City. Most things happen over in Atlas part (use the map find the T symbol and take the train to Atlas) .

Now if thigs are dead there ... might be that people are at work or asleep and then the above post come into effect.

Welcome and welcome, as everyone else has said.

More on that search feature, just in case it isn't intuitive. Find "team" and click on it. That will open a window with a "find teammate" button. (It actually may be called something else.) Many, many people on this server are happy to have company join them. Send them a message and ask to join them to get in all that goodness.

Now, if you are in the habit of playing very early, there are a couple servers with some European groups who play "early" (Victory and Triumph I think) but you can't beat the people here. Not even with a stick.

And don't forget, beware the penguins.

Hiya, @Force here. Welcome to Champion Server, Zeph. I'm sure we can overwhelm you with info pretty easily so I'll keep it simple by adding only 3 things.

1. It's not the build it's the player.
2. Make more scrappers. (No really)
3. Always keep it to the left. (Unless you already have the map memorized and it's actually a right turn...)


If you still find it hard to find teams after you've given Champion some time then... give it more time, join the channels. This is a great server but as said previously, most people already know each other (for the most part). Just butt your head into BMT I'm sure we'll have a few people willing to pick you up and tie you up. I mean show you the ropes.


I'm sure you're probably gotten it taken care of by now, but if you haven't post up your global handle here and we'll get about reeling you in. I think I might know a Mod that can help.

Wow, did not expect that much welcome. Thanks a lot to all of you guys. I`ve only scouted the game real quick this morning. I'll get to play more on weekends, mostly at night.

As a matter of fact ,i have started the game as a Blaster. I have done the tutorial and a few missions in Atlas park. I am now lvl 4.

Love the gameplay. I have played some World of Warcraft in the past, and am finding CoH a refreshing change of pace.

Pretty much everyone already posted useful information, but you made the right choice in seeking out the aid of The Forums. Most MMO forums tend to be cesspools of flamewars, doomcrying and general mean-spiritedness. Ours cycle through this on occasion, but even after six years the City of Heroes community is the most mature, helpful and friendly of any MMO I've played.
