Definitely. I used to quad-box and my machine is something like two years old now.

I understand. We'll miss you, and best of luck in your life travels!

So as I've mentioned here and there, I got married at the end of last month. It's been pretty busy around here since, but I finally have some time to post some pictures. Since most of our SG is semi-local, it wasn't SUPER difficult to get most of us together, but our brother Soupor flew in from the Northeast and Pwny came all the way from California. (We're living in Central KY still)
Just wanted to share a couple pictures with you guys:
The Sacred Brotherhood: @Brin Ohmsford, @Soupor, @Ryxx, @Elegost, @Pwnsaucier, @Violet Dark. (Photoshopped in)
Same, with my bride included
And my personal favorite, RIDE THE PWNY!!!

I almost quit with the first incorrect possessive "it's" but the CoH staff have been messing that one up for years, so I gave them a single warning.
If the Journalists don't even have English degrees anymore, who does!? -
Quote:Sorry, was being rushed through posting by the Mrs. and didn't get to proofread as much as I'd liked. Originally I quoted a few people, didn't really mean to single you out in particular, just erased most of what I said originally and it kinda sounded like I'm just mad at you or something. You're not a doomer, all I was really addressing at you is why they limited communication to trial accounts, then moving on to shout my feelings at the empty room. Also, are you quoting with this bolded statement, too? I'm not crying doom
More shouting at the empty room: From PC gamer article at http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/21/ci...s-and-details/ :

Quote:Remember the Real Money Trading spammers? Trial accounts used to be able to send tells, use broadcast, and chat in global channels. They lowered the communication rights of trial accounts because of all the spam. This whole thing is just an upgrade of the current trial accounts, it's not a downgrade of anything really. Trial accounts are RIGHT NOW limited to local and team chat already; they're not losing anything. The communication stuff is stupid, too. Why are F2P people barred from communication channels, when that is the MAIN way to find teams in game? This change is not going to change that, so anyone going F2P at any time is at a huge disadvantage, unless they want to pester all their friends via tells to let them know when something is happening.
I cannot say this loudly enough.
We already have a trial account system. This is a good way to make it more accessible and welcoming. The trial account system is only getting better. Stop with the doom.
This pretty much sums up my thoughts, with two thumbs up. Trial accounts bring more people in to the game. With a piss-poor advertising budget, word of mouth seems to be the best way this game gets new subscribers, or since returning vets can see what's changed without paying for anything, I'd expect to get more of them back as well. -
At any rate, it is definitely called Cold Domination, not ice anything. It's just confusing when you mix names up.
As far as I know, people do stick with /dark or /cold because rain of fire + sleet/tar patch is just plain awesome, so the rest is just your playstyle preference. I have both, but play the fire/cold a ton more than the cold, mostly for the buffs though.
And Silas's guides and words are golden. -
This thread made me want to reinstall and Play Baldur's Gate 2, so I'm currently reinstalling it. After setup, encountered this gem in the graphics options:

Wait I'm getting married an hour before that
*edit* btw I'm getting married next weekend -
By no means are we the youngest, but at 20 and 23, Ele and I have at least been around to watch a few of these jumps. We surely respect the strides taken by the industry; the first hard drive we had on our very first gaming computer to the two of us in the late 90s had a whopping 4gb hard drive that required us to uninstall Baldour's Gate every time we wanted to try out ANY other new game. I remember doing so for Daggerfall, Counter Strike 1.5, 1.6, Black and White, Lords of Magic, and I'm sure others as well. We actually ended up burning the motherboard out somehow when we tried plugging up two PCI video cards up and running two monitors way back then, not flatscreens but the old type.
Of course the first computer we ever got to play games on was our older brother Soupor's
So even with our limited age and exposure, we have tons of respect for the progression the industry has taken. -
Obviously I cannot add requirements, but I always find it helpful when people don't just stick to one character, but have at least a few characters in a repertoire to choose from when running something. If we want to run a speed Apex but the only thing you have Alpha slotted on is your Peacebringer... well I will be let down. That's not to say every 50 you have should be decked out in IOs or have tons of progress on all the Incarnate stuff, but still... having options and being flexible is important.
To me anyways. -
Quote:qftit works... The mods in vb are just not using it correctly. It is not retroactive. So if they set it for 2 weeks and then leave it alone, a bunch of accounts will be removed. Then they could set it for two years afterward and anyone who got removed could rejoin if they wanted to (assuming they return to game).

I've been here my entire COH career of 5ish years and never seen any evidence of either of those things, good or bad. I like it and I'll never leave, so I guess there must be something keeping me here.

I say thumbs up! I love the new trials and that I have something new to build towards for my high toons other than just IOs. I see your lament with PVP though and I too miss the days of active zone pvp.
If things are too easy, bump up the difficulty! My posse regularly runs speedy runs of near everything, and almost nightly 20 minute ITFs, but last night we bumped up to +4 just for a bit more challenge and experience for one of us (who went from 46-48 in just this one run), and decided to clear most everything. Took us 45-50 minutes and was tons of fun. -
I've heard of this happening for people but I've never experienced it. Are the people who are hitting the same target multiple times using tier 4 or 3? Or something else? I am still stuck with Partial radial, second from the right, tier 3. I have another tier 3 crafted and have all the stuff waiting for tier 4, still waiting for a damned very rare drop, still have yet to get one.

I like to consolidate my feelings into one post:
ixp: I've really only run any of this on my fire/therm corrupter, and only actually unlocked Lore with ixp, the rest was mostly with impatience, astral merits to threads to xp, and tons of cash.
Health bars: It's silly how much damage one fire corrupter's rain of fire can put out... remember the run last night when Nightstar went from 15% to dead before anyone knew what happened? That may have been me, without intending to. My only suggestion is if there is a fire corrupter on one AV, get another on the other AV. It sounds kind of silly but we did take down Nightstar in something like 10-15 seconds. Or maybe put them all on Siege? I dunno, haven't done a ton of experimenting. More than the health bars, people need to watch chat. Multiple times Frigid would say "Stop killing Siege, let Nightstar team catch up!" and there would be 3-4 melee types just pummeling away at Siege until they killed him. Of course if everyone would watch the bars themselves, they wouldn't need to be yelled at.
Overall:
I <3 speed anything runs, and these are no exception. I'm always glad to join and help out with these, and have little to no problems with the way they're run. I was on three runs yesterday... no maybe it was Sunday? The ones where Frigid ran a couple then let Patient V take big star and lead. The big difference I saw was the spawn routes. Now something like 98% of the time I'm on BAF, Masque is leading it and I'm on vent with him and we always take the same route, so I was totally thrown for a curve when I had a team lead spot and didn't know where I was expected to go. I'm used to team 1 camping the double path just below c1 (see picture below) and everyone else on the triple path just in front of/left of B1. I think Patient V's run was this way, but we had no escaping prisoners on any run so they both seem to work well enough.

Does teleport foe work on the escapees? Surely not...

My and Ele's brother came back to try another stint of Coh again today, so we spent all of today and will for the next day or two, still be catching him up to speed. Haven't tried league or the trials at all yet, but I'm really looking forward to doing so, gonna mooch on public knowledge (again) on mission knowledge and tactics for this. I heard about some crashing tonight and some people getting dropped from leagues or something? What was up with that?
How does it play so far? Pug-friendly? Time-friendly? I never got into any closed sessions so other than brief descriptions, I still know next to nothing about both trials (/raids?). I will probably end up trying the new blueside TF before the raids, oddly enough.
