Victory is Limitless!

Hi everyone! I’ve wanted to make a new global channel for over a year and with the possibility of an influx of Euro players (due to server list merge), now seemed like the perfect time. So I have created the channel Victory Limitless.

One of the best things about City of Heroes is that it is a very casual player friendly game. You can do a lot of things solo and you don’t have to get into inventions and pimping out your builds if you do not want to. You can run a story arc (or tf/trial) and defeat every single foe on the map if you like. That being said, there are a lot of players (like myself) who have experienced most of the content in game and enjoy the thrill of challenging themselves to create new records, new goals, and min maxed characters that can do things well beyond the scope of “normal gameplay.”

We currently have three major public channels on Victory:
Victory Forum- an awesome place to chat/form teams/form tfs/join Isolators
Victory Badges & Victory Badges 2009- an awesome place to talk about badges/form teams/form tfs

However, these channels are mostly for more casual play and “speed tfs” or numbers talk (Mid’s) are not always popular. I think it is really important that there are public channels to serve every type of player. The goal of Victory Limitless will be to make a home for players who enjoy running fast/hard core task forces, min maxing their builds, getting tips from others, and overall who want to be better players by learning from each other. That is not to say that someone can ONLY run speedy tfs or only run on a pimped out character, everyone is free to promote any kind of fun activities they like.

-In a nutshell-

This channel is for you if…

  • You like to challenge yourself and want to team with other people who like that to.
  • You like to min max or IO build your characters.
  • You do not know how to speed tfs or build characters well but you’d like to learn from some of the best players on the server.
  • You want to have access to a public channel where you can easily tell your friends to join as well.
  • You want to learn or teach tips on marketeering (playing the market to earn inf).
  • You enjoy fast paced game play with a lot of variety.
  • You want a channel that is all fun with a no drama, no BS policy.
  • You like to help other players be it teaming, answer questions, etc.
  • You enjoy team based play (you can of course solo too and just chat!)

This channel is probably not for you if…
  • You always want to defeat every single foe on every single map.
  • You want nothing to do with IOs or the auction house.
  • You like to cause drama.

Just to reiterate: this is a public channel, anyone may join (players will only be removed if they violate EULA or the no drama/no BS policy). You do not always have to play speedy or hard core, just if you enjoy it. There will be plenty of opportunities for all different types of play/content/chat. All PERC events will be advertised on this channel as well (in addition to other public channels!).

You can join Victory Limitless by typing /chanjoin "Victory Limitless" or by sending me a PM or tell (@Madame Pistacio) and I will invite you. Other mods will be chosen as well.

Thank you for reading! I <3 Victory!

I like this idea. Honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't done sooner.

Sound like my cup a tea, I'll be joining.

SI Radio has many DJs and listeners whom hold City of Heroes close to their hearts. We will be supporting many efforts to keep CoH ALIVE!!

Sounds interesting. Would like to see some of this. But I might be only casually limitless now due to RL.

Sweet, I'm in so many global channels now, but I really like the concept behind this one. Seems like a great place for forming speed TFs/trials, or "Master of" runs", and the like.

By min/max, MP, what do you mean? I like IOs and making builds (and helping people with them... I have chatted with plenty of people in channels about builds), but I'm not really one for the most expensive builds out there, since not everyone is rich--or has been bankrolled by multiple PERC events.

I'm doubting this will be the "we is so awesome" club, but I thought I would check.

Maximum benefit, minimum holes. You CAN min/max on a budget. It's just not going to be extreme. Basically, I love to make builds and chat about it, but I never go all out crazy extreme min/maxing. I just mean, squeak out the most that you can Oh and having pimped chars is not a requirement at all. Just if you don't want to talk about it or have an aversion to build talk, that means VL is not a good fit. I see you as a occasional hard core gamer. You know how to be hard core and stuff but you don't do it all the time

Oh and GP- everyone on Victory is awesome... cause it's an awesome server.

Obviously I cannot add requirements, but I always find it helpful when people don't just stick to one character, but have at least a few characters in a repertoire to choose from when running something. If we want to run a speed Apex but the only thing you have Alpha slotted on is your Peacebringer... well I will be let down. That's not to say every 50 you have should be decked out in IOs or have tons of progress on all the Incarnate stuff, but still... having options and being flexible is important.

To me anyways.

You know I'm down anytime to support an event or idea you have. In a couple of weeks school will be over and I'll be back to playing regularly. No more 30 minute sessions twice a week!

I stayed at ranged and plinked away with my shuriken; I only jumped in after the Tank (or brute?) died. At least now from range I have better toys.

I've only died first in one of the first attempts I've taken him on Everyone else has let me down since then

In case anyone was confused... GP was saying that he has won several PERC contests (for lots of inf) and that is how he has funded (some of) his builds. I just want to make sure people were reading this right, as someone was worried GP was calling me out, which I know is not the case.

It would be more fun if you acted like he was calling you out and had a big forum fight. Then everyone else could join Team Pilgrim or Team Pistacio and insult each other for being on the wrong team.

No drama, no BS! Though maybe a tf competition would be fun!

No IO build is out of reach to anyone playing CoH. If you have limited time, then obviously it will take you longer. The notion that "I can't afford" a min/max build is precisely why these types are discussion don't alway go well in the current channels.

While I am really good at designing melee builds, I'm not so good at amassing the resources to obtain them. For this I rely on information provide by others who do keep on best ways to obtain the resources I need. Presently, I simply don't have the time or the inclination to keep on both.

This is precisely why I like the idea regarding this type of channel. A place where we can openly discuss build strategies and strategies for achieving them. These conversations can get technical and would not always be welcome in the current global channels.

On that same notion, not every min/max build need be expensive. It all boils down to what you want to achieve. A scrapper wasn't intended to solo AVs. An ITF wasn't intended to be run in 20 minutes. Obviously, things like this can be done, and you can design your builds to be better suited for it. If these activities don't interest you, then you don't need that type of build.

Min/max does not refer to the most expensive build possible. It's about achieving the maximum you desire for the minimum amount of sacrifice.

Wait... how is asking questions and using the joking smiley face calling someone out now? So confused (in case anyone was confused by that smiley as well, heh).

Maybe my brain is still hurting from grading some crummy final exams today (seriously... if you don't believe me, I can give you some grade-A examples that will hurt your brain to read), but this seems weird to me.

Although I see Ryxx and Ele are hating on Peacebringers again. I need to start bringing mine into trials with them just to rub it in.

The LGTF competition was fun last year, we should do that again. Incarnate stuff makes it a little wonky, but maybe you could do a lower level TF... or people will just make teams with Incarnates, I dunno.

Posi Part 1 might be interesting... those Ruin Mages are still rough on most teams.

Well, I'd quibble with that. I've only recently been able to get together a whole set of Purples for characters I'm leveling, and even then, it's not the more expensive damage sets. I'm definitely not going to get some of those billion+ PvP IOs, even if I'd like the 3% res one on Grey Pilgrim.

Time is the main reason I'm quibbling above. I could probably get the +res PvP IO for Grey Pilgrim if I focused on it as a goal, but then I wouldn't play all the alts I like, and variety is really waht I'm about for CoH (and this is why I rather dislike the new Trial system as currently implemented).

I usually take things into PMs, but I agree, that's a good thing about this channel idea. I like the idea, so don't let my above quibbling confuse about that.

Well, that's how I would probably define things for me, but most people tend to use it on the forums to mean the most expensive possible to eke the most out of a build possible. For instance, I'm still working on a build for my guide after someone requested a more expensive build (but no PvPs... which some would say could be used in an expensive build).

People can be all over in how they define things, heh.

*added*

Yes, and I was joking earlier about how probably half of my net worth is due to winnings from PERC events. Maybe half... I might get more than that if I cashed in all my LoTGs and Miracle and Numina uniques I have grabbed via merits.
