That's an excellent article. Jack, I think your comment also summarizes my thoughts on it perfectly.

Scooped.
But yes, that would be utterly perfect. Something else that was pointed out was how appropriate it is/was that the "post-apocalyptic" costume set was nearing completion. -
Honestly, it was i24. Everything else was "small potatoes" for me. ALL of my top "wants" were coming in i24.
-
Quote:Seconded. Literally, the top 4 things on my wishlist of things for this game were (in order): total power customization, T9 nuke modifications, a Martial Arts secondary for blasters, overall blaster fixes.Im still worried because in case we could set a server for players without NC Soft, I24 updates never made it so...
We still missing those awesome updates we were looking for since forever, at least me.
I24 was full of my wishlist: blaster buffs, T9 crashless nukes, Martial arts secondary, Pool customization, Sorcery pool, Upgraded tights, Staff weapon pack...
I joined just after issue 9 dropped, and I have never been as excited for an issue as I was for i24. -
Quote:See, I thought you were going to say "Rylas, I hate your avatar... because every time I scroll down a thread you post in, I end up stopping to watch the damn thing play through." Because that's what I would have said.Rylas, I hate your avatar >_>
Every time I scroll down in a thread you post in (also, that other poster with the avatar of all the pokemon stacking), my laptop hiccups for like 3-5 seconds when I get to your posts...and it happens every time, even if you posted twice on one page and after the page fully loads.
And Hyperstrike, you said it sir! I for one still had 4 combinations I wanted to try BEFORE even thinking about the stuff i24 was bringing. *sigh* -
Nowadays, with all the available travel powers, teleport powers, etc. to which we have access, no, I do not think there is wilderness in this game. I don't honestly know if there ever was.
However...
I distinctly remember my first days in the Hollows, before I had figured out the chat interface, and before I had any travel powers, and before the Hollows revamp. I was sent on a mission in the southeastern corner of that zone, hoofing it with Sprint the whole way (since I also did not know to pick up Fitness at that point). That was really the one moment in this game where I felt truly isolated. -
Sorry I had to miss last night, all. Admittedly, I was seeing Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX, and it was awesome, so I can only be partially upset.
Unfortunately, it seems that I will be missing three in a row, a fact I am not happy about since we currently only have a finite number of these left. This week, I have what I like to call "unavoidable familial obligations" a.k.a. a family gathering that, if missed, will result in an onslaught of guilt and such. The following week, I am out of town. That does not suck nor rock, it simply is what it is.
I should be on plenty during the week though, so I hope to team with you all then!
Updated for this week. -
Yes. Plain and simple.
I love the community, and I would sorely miss playing with people. But what originally drew me to this game was the ability to make my ideas of superheroes come to life, and a single player version would still allow me to do that. -
Quote:According to the live stream on Wednesday, "granting VIP access for all" is among the many things the Development team is currently trying to negotiate. No promises though.I hope there is an update, I've been a subscriber since 2005, after unexpected change of credit card this year I neglected to update my billing and was unsubbed the end of July, thinking I could resub before next content release - now I've no VIP, no incarnate. I contacted NCSOFT support to see if I could resub for the remainder of the games life and was directed to the website (where obviously I cannot resub).
I'm still sticking with the game until the end, but I think it'd be nice if people could access all the content whilst the game is still up (and for those who subbed for longer some kind of refund must be in order - heck if they are tight for money, take the money from people like me wanting to sub for the remaining time!) -
I don't count the character creator as a "system," so I won't say that.
I have to go with Enhancements. With this being my first MMO, I didn't experience a true "gear" system until DCUO was being released and I hopped on the Beta for it in between my time in Paragon City. I was immediately soured on it by the fact that I had to wear certain gloves to get certain boosts. It made no sense to me, at least in the superhero genre.
But yeah: Super Sidekicking, Flashback, Leagues, Team Up Teleporter,... this game has spoiled me/us on a load of stuff. -
Thanks for the update, Zwillinger.
Although, if nothing is publicized by the end of today, I will have to consider it very bad form on NCSoft's part, considering it has been a week without even a public statement from them. -
And you said you were done with lists, HA! If I may add a couple:
* Ghost Widow - "Well, I suppose I wasn't getting any deader..."
* Flambeaux - "YOLO!" -
I'm going to attempt to translate this:
There has yet to be a topic to be titled "Dooooom" since the bomb was dropped, so one was made. And he's saying that even though the game is ending, at least the European and NA servers were made accessible by everyone, and at least the forums no longer segregate based on geography. -
You guys give our ideas and dreams a reality. There is no true way to show gratitude for such a deed. So let me just say "Thank you," and know that those words do not fully capture what I mean.

Rated and posted.
At this point, any publicity is good publicity! -
On a Mac here, and I don't actually know anyone outside of the game who plays it. And not sure upgrading to Parallels or getting Bootcamp is in the financial cards at the moment. So I might be S.O.L. That said, I had fully planned on deleting all of my characters on November 29th, for the simple reason that I would be able to retain creative license over them.
The way I see it my characters are ideas and concepts. If I lose them all and then have to start over, yes, that will royally suck. But at the same time, they are immortal in my brain. I'll be able to recreate them whether I end up somewhere else, or back here by some miracle. -
As of right now, it is only just after 8am on the west coast, so we should hear something from a red name within the next couple of hours.
But by "hear from a red name" I mean that we'll probably get an explanation as to why Bio Armor is suddenly in the character creator. I sincerely doubt we'll gain access to it on any live server. -
Well said, Cap. I sincerely hope somebody in an able position reads that.
-
You said it, dug.
I got my latest 50 two days before the bomb dropped. I chose to run him solo through the Dark Astoria arcs, since I had yet to touch them. I was running them at -1, purely for the story aspect and, as you say, it was still fun. Then I hopped on a pick-up Keyes Island incarnate trial and aside from grossly missing our badge goal, it too was still fun.
For me, that f-word is all the next 3 months are about. -
Have you not logged onto them since 2xp weekend? Sometimes there is a lag with the xp distribution over those, and you can log in to get some xp out of no where (because it was awarded to your character after you logged off).

Not sure we need to be ragging on NCSoft any more than we currently are. Yes, they are obviously to blame since it was the company's decision to close down the game. But this sort of negativity doesn't really help, it just makes us feel better about disliking them, and let's us know that we are not alone in our negativity. Such things have their place, but as many have stated over and over:
We need NCSoft right now. They hold the key to a vast majority of the better solutions. Like it or not, we need them to see a community dedicated to the game and its survival, not a community dedicated to hating on them and bad-mouthing the company. -
Of course. I simply meant that it is very hard for anyone to come up with a counter-argument for something they themselves said, especially something as weighty as a mission statement.
-
Well-said, Thirty-Seven. To add on to that, the Post-Apocalyptic costume set was nearing completion! Coincidence, or fate? We decide!
-
Touche`
Agreed. Using someone else's words in a counter-argument, especially words so publicly placed, is excellent leverage. -
Though, to be fair, I think this is more directed at their internal employees, rather than their clients.
