  1. Ya its been a year since they announced it. I think that's too long. I don't think they should announce things that far ahead and make people wait. Much of my initial enthusiasm for it faded long ago.
  2. My advice is to join the legion of atoholics.

This game's classes "Archetypes" (ATs) all play very differently, and many powersets within them also play differently from one another. The game does not feel like the same game if you are playing a mastermind and than a blaster, or if you are playing a defender and then a tank.

I would advise you to try each AT to level 12 or so, just to get a feeling for them. Leveling early one goes by really really fast so saying to 12 isn't as long as it may sound to a new player.

I just tried that on a throw-away toon and it does look hillarious. I love the way whirlwind re-animates itself as soon as you sit idle. Its like Kapow, bam, he's down, and now, I must twirl!

But it does happen, as do other situations. I just took Jump Kick on my Kin defender because I don't want to pay the big bucks for a knockback protection io and want Acrobatics. On a kin superjump is rather useless as you get a power that gives your whole team superjump. Already took combat jumping, so that leaves only jump kick to open the door to acrobatics.

Jump kick is a silly power. I'm really trying to like it but may just put it in my "never use" tray of powers. And just take it out to goof around maybe.

    Dark/?

I recently started a dark/storm and the synergy is beautiful
  6. I found the same bug. Its not patched and for me happened on a newspaper mission on a character that I had not played in over a year. Does this mean there will be praetorian clockwork paper missions? Some sort of scanner system in praetoria?
  7. They changed the ragdoll physics? That was my favourite thing about this game and if its radically deminished or changed, its one of the few things that could get me to quit finally after all this time.
  8. They took the blackmarket down on live now. They should really not roll these issues out until they are functional. Its daft.

Yes. It could be increased traffic due to i7 still being new, but the game is unplayable for me now even on low settings. I don't have a graphics card to handle ultra mode and never planned to try it - but my game has been ground to a halt in NORMAL mode, even on low settings. Is my computer getting all the data for ultramode and just not rendering the graphics? Hence having to take in a ton more data and slowing to a crawl?
  10. I am amazed at how many "Did you know X used to"s I didn't know aren't still that way.

This is why I don't play defenders. I'd rather play corrupters, whose blasts are not such weaksauce or controllers who add so much more to the team alongside the buffs.
  12. I can't belive nobody has mentioned my favourite group The slag heap garbage dudes in Sharkhead! They don't even get a dedicated storyline much less a taskforce or contact.
  13. I stand corrected after reading through the thread. It was in May 2009 that we were first told about Going Rogue? So like a YEAR AND A HALF ahead of release date the players were emailed to get them excited about it? Thats just nuts.
  14. Personally I'm annoyed at how far ahead they advertise. We knew about Going Rogue about a year before it will actually come out. That is just too long to wait for something. I would much prefer they not announce it until a few months before it is released. My excitement for things completely dies if I have to wait that long to get what I originally got excited about.
  15. I am still waiting for FREEM
  16. Forget TFs. It needs normal contacts and a story told therein.
  17. Because its interesting and different. Variety, people, is the spice of life. My original draw to this game was how different all the ATs were, back when controllers had massive control and no real damage to speak of pre-32 (before containment). It gave a whole different feel to the game than playing a blaster or defender. I want to see more of that, more variety. I want to see more innovation.

Dual blades with the combo thing was a good idea. Dual pistols with selectable damage type and secondary effect is a good idea though it doesn't go far enough. I'm hoping for new unique ATs and I'm hoping that all powersets from here on out put something new and unique into the game - not just reskins of powers we already have. That gets boring.
  18. Everything has to be able to contribute damage - why? Think outside the box man! lol
  19. Gimped? How could it possibly be gimped? It wouldn't be aimed at people who want to solo, yes, but gimped?
  20. Imagine an Empathy/Traps or a Forcefields/Thermal or a Cold/Dark. Would a buff/buff set be viable? Those of us who love support roles would love to see this I think, but would it be overpowered? You could have it so the secondary is half as powerful as if it were a primary.

    Thoughts?
  21. I am actually pondering doing a sapper build - kin/electric defender? Or is elec/elec blaster just as good?
  22. When I want to play a buff set I'll usually go corrupter but every once in a while I want to play team support, and don't feel like playing another controller, so I look at defenders. Every time I do that I wind up turning away. The blasts are why. But I think I may have misconceptualized them.

The purpose of blasts for a defender... is it damage or is it the secondary effect of the blasts? If the latter maybe I could get into defendering. My dream AT would be a double buff set, like empathy/traps But failing that, and what defender blasts are usable when slotted towards secondary effect rather than damage? Dark seems obvious (if paired with a +def set) but what others? Sonic you can't slot the -res. Rad, only so much -def is needed. Archery has no secondary effect I know of. Energy just does anoying knockback. Any other ideas here?
  23. The makers of this game have gotten into the bad habbit of announcing things way too soon, getting people excited and then making them wait way too long. Instead, why not delay the announcement of these things. If they were announcing Going Rogue for the first time right now, the wait probably wouldn't be so bad.
  24. I may be the exception, but I've been playing since issue 1, had a few stints with social networks early on, but since Issue 8 or so I've been exclusively playing on pick up groups I make and actually avoiding any real heavy social involvement. I don't join networks, or supergroups (unless its a supergroup for a themed character, but even that is rare nowadays).

I like the casual nature of this game and I love newbs. I love playing with new players because it makes much of the game feel fresh again.
