Only in this game.
Horrendous tearing, especially when models are viewed up close.
Seemed to occur at the same time as a mouse input problem in WoW.
Nothing had changed with graphics drivers, updated them and still tearing in CoH, but improved the input problem in WoW.
NVidia GTX 8800.
Anyone else having this issue.
PS. As if the VSync option is turned off...... As if VSync option in CoH does nothing.
Less tearing while playing the environment, but HORRIBLE tearing using costume editor. -

Quote:I'm having some wierd effects happening to me.I think this is a great idea and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Combining these two things gives everyone a chance to taste the changes made with i16, and if they like them keep their accounts going afterwards. Great thinking! The downside... getting mapservered every 5 minutes gives old AND new players bad impressions of the game. I'd like to mention these aren't standard "lag mapservers", these are hard disconnects. They don't go away after a time (atleast for me) and always result in you getting booted. I'm sure NCSoft will respond that it is a problem with the connection on my end, the problem with that logic is it has happened to entire teams I was on at the same time. Something is very wrong here and you guys should seriously look into getting it fixed.
EDIT: I just re-logged in after posting this and within 30 seconds was mapservered right back out again. This is __EXTREMELY__ frustrating and annoying.
EDIT2: Asking on the level 50 global channel, which has many many people on it, it seems there are quite a few also experiencing mapservers, lags and rubberbanding. Someone else in my SG is getting the constant hard drops like I am as well. It may be worse for me because I am on a wifi connection and wireless doesn't seem to handle lost packets very well.
EDIT3: I just PM'd Dark Watcher about this issue with the following: "Hi, sorry to bother you but someone on one of my global channels said you're watching the server performance during the 2x. I just wanted to see if you could take a look at Guardian. There are atleast 3 people being affected by constant random disconnects. Myself (@Torrent, @Godlike), an SG mate of mine (@Pronator, @Miosane) and someone from the Guardian global channel (@Ralas). Others on the Level 50 global channel have mentioned getting mapservers and rubberbanding (I didn't make note of global names). Could you please look into this? It's been happening to me since yesterday but has been much worse the past few hours. Thanks."
EDIT4: Two days later and the problems are still going on. Apparently people don't check their PMs. SG mate of mine is still also having issues, just as often as I am. I play for 15 minutes, drop. Relog, play 20 more minutes, drop. Relog, play 2 minutes, drop. Relog, play 45 minutes, drop. It is very very irritating and making me not want to play this game even if it is FREE to do so right now! Which is pretty sad. There are strange glitches happening all over in the game, from the market to crafting (making items and having the recipes or salvages not disappear) to power recharge displays sticking. I don't know if it's from lag or the game trying to do too much crap all at once (read: QUIT ADDING MORE FEATURES, they slow everything down). Does anything in CoH work right anymore?
1. First major thing is TONS of rubberbanding. I almost cannot play unless in a mission.
2. Second thing, is the sound effects are lagging behind (which might actually be a good thing, because if sound effects occur seperately.... no wait.... that's wierd, they should go off on my machine only. Why are they lagging when the powers are executing?)
3. My pets aren't attaching to me in out of instance.
4. Major pets in elevator bugs. They think I'm in two places at once. -

Quote:I like to pick up an attack at early levels and then drop it by lvl 18. I tried my second build having attacks (thugs/poison), and I literally felt like my minions looked back at me and said, "Really, Please? You're just annoying us and spreading the mobs."Helpful thoughts, thanks. I've started with Thugs/Dark, though the others are still appealing.
Given that powerset, three quick questions:
- any thoughts on whether I can get by without my own attack?
I gather from other posts that the question has been asked many times, yet I'm finding few explanations about it. I'd just as soon let my Thugs do the damage, but if that won't work, it's better for me to know now.
- will any travel power match this set?
I'm inclined toward teleport or SuperJump, but the very few build examples I've found feature SS.
- is Leadership essential for Thugs/Dark (or all MM's), and if so, how soon do I need it in a build?
The big downside to the attacks is the endurance drain. Masterminds have an increase to endurance costs. You can mitigate it with SOs, but by 18 by the time your attack animates, the thugs already have it dead.... and it was sad when a single punk equal damage to me, and one enforcers doubled down on my damage, and my brute would solo me for fun, if I didn't feed his rage bar with mobs.
Leadership is gravy for thugs..... because they already get two leadership toggles (DEF,DAM,ACC) from enforcers for each type. It might be a good gap filler between 12 and 20, but, you really don't NEED it, and it fits best in the damage curve between 26 and 32.
Personally, I tried thugs/poison....
I felt like without some heavy recharge, I couldn't fight big crowds without losing some exp/min. 3 or 4 was fine, and 3 minions 1 boss was best..... but I felt like a lot of the crowd wasn't sharing the debuffs. Also, Noxious had way too long of a recharge, so long I forgot to use it altogether. The patrons changed things for me by spreading out the debuffing a little (I used Ghost Widow for the -acc).
Thugs are absolutely, by and far, the most balanced in the lineup. Thugs/traps would absolutely shine. However, since I'm a stormie and heart.... and love big battles, I'm replaying thugs/storm...
I miss the massive boss spawns of AE. My earth/storm controller easily replaced a tank, and held back three groups as the team struggled at the zone point. It was literally my D-Day. That was glorious....
IF YOU'RE GOOD. The capabilities of storm to turn the tide is truly remarkable.
However, I love chaos.... and I love to control chaos.
Herdicane holding things back, Tornado throwing stuff around, lightning cloud as an extra damage dealer, gang war eating away like an antpile.
Just imagine the glory.
Nothing else compares. -

I hope this is a bug but...
PSA #88983
Sorry.... no 2XP in AE this time around.
But then again, that makes sense.
They already hate users that use AE for the purposes of leveling. AE is supposed to be artistic expression...
That's why when you go there.... you can hear the lovely background sound of chirping crickets and dust storms.... -
Quote:PSA #88983So next time it'll be 2XP in the AE, but with the ability to spawn mobs for a full 8 even if you're a duo/solo too? Could be epic

Why don't they make the backpack a new costume piece, and while playing it overwrites the backpack slot when the current build has crab powers....
I mean.... is it that hard. Simple fix.
It's bad to have blasts come from a backpack you don't have displayed. It's just as bad to have a backpack display that you can't use. -
All this is good thought until the introduction of advance mission settings.
Now you can fight only minion/lieuts solo as if you were a team of 8. -
Quote:Yeah it would.A *single mission* "arc" would fill "most modern comic books?" A three panel comic STRIP maybe.
...
Apparently you don't read the contact text, the clues, the sending text, the boss quotes, the enter building text, the return to contact text, or the turn-in mish text.
Not to mention that during combat most comic books have the main character think and react, which is at least 3 or 4 pages.
Extend the boss fight that you see in game to have dialog during the fight (which most big fights have), and you easily have two books.
But yeah, if all you do is talk to contact, get mish, click through text, open door, fight, call contact, click through text again, you can do that in one comic page. -

Quote:Here's a thought. That build is a lot better in terms of defense than the one I whipped up, for sure. But, the other poster has a point. 3 attacks will be a bit difficult to make headway with. Perhaps if I could find a way to have soft capped or near soft-capped defense and still take the AoE's, but not the ST ranged attacks, IE Take Suppression, the 2 Grenades, and all the melee's, that would be a suitable alternative. Any ideas?
1. Frag is going to knock things back.
2. Suppression will be hard to pull off and too much activation time if in melee
Here's what I'd consider picking up instead.
1. Air superiority:
It has the same recharge damage and endurance use of punch in SS, but with quicker activation. I usually drop Jab in SS for it to have a more stable chain. Solid melee.
2. Patron:
Ball of lightning works well since it's aoe. Alternative is obliteration. However, MM has electrifying fences which is AoE as well. AoE can become PBAoE if you pick a melee range target, which would continue the melee 'feel'
So best combination:
1. Slice
2. Arm Lash
3. Air Sup
4. Venom Grenade
5. Frenzy
6. Ball of lightning
7. electrifying fences.
This way you have some AoE that you don't have to disengage melee to do.
And 7 attacks sound better than 3 right??? -
And by a 10 sec activation time.... I mean similar to the self-detonate activation time. You're lock-down, you can't move, and it even ignores input (meaning you can't cancel the activation by moving like with snipe powers).
This way it's a MAJOR drawback to perform this in-combat or in-PVP.
Hell, make you weaker too like using "Rest" does.... Make you a three hit kill and turn off all toggles... I don't care how extreme the cast-time penalty is..... just allow it to be done on the fly....
Also, remember, I'm actually for activating long recharge powers without effect. In essence you have to wait for the powers to recharge after changing builds. -
Quote:Ok... you obviously don't listen, so let me repeat this in a different way.Wrong!
CoH had the color changing idea quite awhile ago, just now they finally finished up the code to implement it. It wasn't CO that prompted it.
10-1 dual builds was already a idea on the dev-plate before WoW even got around to it.
(BTW I played WoW before coming back here... in the last 6 months. I don't EVER remember the ability to make a second build.)
Just because the guys who make CoX have odd timing doesn't mean that they didn't already have the ball rolling before others.
and honestly I belive that you should still have to go to the trainer however I do belive that the time it requires between build switches should be lowered to either 5 minutes or 10 minutes at the very least, had it happen where I'm working on one build testing it out for solo play only and My SG starts a team and I have to tell them they have to wait a quarter of a hour just for me to be useful... yeah...
Idea != Reality
Idea != Money
They were putting off coloring powers and even though WE had discussed (it was a player driven suggestion) the option which drove the idea along (because it's obvious the idea was on their plate at some point before we even mentioned), it was inevitably the release of other games that drove the actual project.
Given, it may have happened eventually..... soon (TM).
Also, dual builds was definitely a WoW idea first.... or at least it was on the drawing board on WoW first. I play both games.... been playing both games.
Finally,
I thought my suggestion firm enough to avoid all forms of exploitation.
1. Can't be a viable option in PvP...
2. Can't be done in-action on-demand. Has to be done out of combat.
3. Can't be done to reset power recharges (which is BETTER SOLUTION THAN IT IS NOW!!!!).
Also, comes with bonuses for player
1. Avoids waiting for switch when switching between solo and team builds.
2. Avoids unnecessary travel.
3. Allows renaming sets without huge wait penalty.
I THINK THIS IS A DAMN FAIR ENOUGH compromise.
And if they keep toting exploitation concerns, then they have no reason to not implement it this way, because it actually eliminates current minor exploitation, without introducing other exploits.
Which is why I said, people saying to return to a trainer are stuck in CoX mindset... and have played multiple MMOs, I absolutely hate this sticky mindset from any game I play.
We must do it this way because we always do it this way.....???? LAME.... -
Quote:Why is it that WoW always incorporates these 'stolen' ideas better?Oh, it does? I stand corrected. I must have been mistaken...Sorry 'bout that.
Too bad not everyone can be as polite as you when correcting someone....lol! That being said, I gotta go test that out right now!
"The One"
Coh HAD to put dual builds in.... because WoW announced it.
They HAD to put coloring powers in.... because of the release of Champions.
They HAVE to COMPETE....
Get off your pedestals of "This IS the way" and look at reality. It's called a consumer driven economy...
How about this....
1. Changing builds requires a 10 second cast-time.
2. Changing builds has NO COOLDOWN....
3. Changing builds activates all powers on cooldown longer than 30 seconds WITHOUT effect.
There...
You can swap builds at any time, it takes a cast-time with rooting.... and you can't spam long cooldowns... (including hasten).
ZOMG.... It's not that DAMN HARD.....
It's just as soon as the Devs get some idea stuck in their head, they rarely listen to anyone without a community resume. -
Quote:I bet you're still in college.I'm pretty sure there are 60 month vets who have never filed a bug report, never joined the forums and never logged onto test. The Closed Beta crew is selected based on unknown criteria to us, but you can be sure it contains those people who contribute to bug reporting and testing (for example, I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Arcanaville and Liliacae are in).
If I was organizing a Beta test of a product I would want people who knew what they were doing, not just the people who had been working in the office the longest.
Otherwise, if you're in an office environment, you'd know that tenure is the misconception that's a stupid flaw of management that seems to prevail over capability and work ethic.
Oh well, it keeps the stupid people from sucking our taxes on unemployment.... yay.... -
If you string together the crab and soldier attacks, they give and gain some in different places and equal out.
Yes burst is better on soldier, but nades are better on crab.
This is intentional.
Also, other than longfang, you switch to energy type damage, something to note when comparing activation times. -
Pick based on how you enjoy to play. Each one solos fine. Anything in the game solos fine, but SoAs specifically solo VERY well.
Here's my ranking on four attributes based on feel, not numbers.
They are ranked against themselves only.
I've also given three attributes that I think of when I play them.
1 is best, 4 is least
Typically, there's a small margin between 1-3, and 4 is a bigger step down from 3.
Damage: How much damage it feels like you are doing. Most impacted by bigger spikes.
Speed: How fast you feel. Most impacted by activation times.
Tactics: Do you feel like you're plotting the next fight, or just going in blind and mashing buttons.
Sensual Impact: If you saw this happen in the street IRL, how horrified/impressed would you be. Note that fear powers don't count because you're not affected, just watching. This is obviously the most subjective category.
NW: Speed, grace, shadowy
Damage: 1
Speed: 2
Tactics: 4
Sensual Impact: 4
Bane: Tactical, STRENGTH, gadgetry
Damage: 2
Speed: 3
Tactics: 2
Sensual Impact: 1
Crab: Tactical, minion masher, evil
Damage: 3
Speed: 2
Tactics: 3
Sensual Impact: 2
Fortunata: Control, vampiric, grace
Damage: 4
Speed: 4
Tactics: 1
Sensual Impact: 3 -
hmm...
If you want resist, wait till I16 and pick up a claw/lightning.
Resist + quickness + goblin claw mode + endurance enhancing powers = win. -
Backpacks....
Natural should include backpacks. -
I would like to use the villain dark blast animation with darkwand instead of hero version, if player is a villain.
It looks a little out of place for the black to look so grey when my other attacks are pitch black.
If issue 16 customization allows vet power customization to this degree, reply in likeness and discussion on my part will cease.
Thanks,
Xaade "the Blade" Vach -

He realizes priority, but requests to exchange dodge animation with a raised arm block with shield animation IF using shields and shield is out (toggled on). -

Well, to be on a different take on this, somewhat, my experience pre-i15's Dom buff was shaky except with my Plant/Psi. I'm not sure pre-i15 if I just wasn't skilled enough in my attempts to really understand Dominator's capabilities.
That being said, my Plant/Psi was a ton of fun, got her to level 26. However, I've only pulled her out a few times now and the increase on the recharge of the psi powers makes me sad. I enjoyed the shorter recharge times of the psi powers compared to the other power sets. Since the recharge times have increased, I've found myself at a somewhat loss with her. I'm happy to have an overall damage boost to the AT, but when I triggered Domination, it felt great. Quick attacks with higher damage and harder controls? She was a blast! Now, I just feel somewhat blah'd by the whole thing and wonder if I'll be able to get back into her. Might just take me time to get back to that spot.
So yes, happy in the overall spectrum of things, just saddened by the higher recharge values for Psi Assault.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but now Domination can be saved to be used for what it's meant.... to hold the hard targets.
Before it was used when available by myself because I couldn't stand the pew-pew low damage.
Now I actually feel like I can contend in DPS without needing to pop Domination and get tons of IO global rech. -
raise the costs of all current inf holes by the weight of influence withholding.
This includes any Auction fees. Any transaction of influence other than player-player trade.
For example. Someone with 10 billion influence pays 500k for a basic SO from a vendor. Someone with 100k pays only 15k. Someone with 3k pays 11k (and thus can't afford it).
Scale up infinitely. Someone with 10 trillion pays 5 billion (which is a 10x greater ratio than 500k/10mil on purpose.
