Need help on a choice: The Melee Crab
I tried a build with a fair amount of melee in it for a while. The attacks look cool, but in the end I just didn't feel like I was performing well enough compared to the alternatives. If you can make it work to where you're happy with it then more power to you. Personally, I'd want more than three attacks in my attack chain, though.

That build is a lot better in terms of defense than the one I whipped up, for sure. But, the other poster has a point. 3 attacks will be a bit difficult to make headway with. Perhaps if I could find a way to have soft capped or near soft-capped defense and still take the AoE's, but not the ST ranged attacks, IE Take Suppression, the 2 Grenades, and all the melee's, that would be a suitable alternative. Any ideas?

here is a new one: the 2 granades, all positional defs is capped (melee=45,5%, ranged= 48,2%, aoe=46,1%) and all meleeattacks. sry no place for supprression because of its damn IOsets

1. Frag is going to knock things back.
2. Suppression will be hard to pull off and too much activation time if in melee
Here's what I'd consider picking up instead.
1. Air superiority:
It has the same recharge damage and endurance use of punch in SS, but with quicker activation. I usually drop Jab in SS for it to have a more stable chain. Solid melee.
2. Patron:
Ball of lightning works well since it's aoe. Alternative is obliteration. However, MM has electrifying fences which is AoE as well. AoE can become PBAoE if you pick a melee range target, which would continue the melee 'feel'
So best combination:
1. Slice
2. Arm Lash
3. Air Sup
4. Venom Grenade
5. Frenzy
6. Ball of lightning
7. electrifying fences.
This way you have some AoE that you don't have to disengage melee to do.
And 7 attacks sound better than 3 right???
Here is a modification to Vernichterhelge's build. It keeps the positional softcaps, but also includes hasten/assault, and near perm pets/serum. It's still not perfect, and it will cost a lot, but it's good enough.

I was playing my lvl 35 crab the other day, respec'd him, and realize that, while I LOVE the Ranged powers and style of the set, I really wanted to use the melee stuff to. So, I decided to dual build. Simple enough, right? Well, before I go off and do that and screw him up completely...I'd like to hear from any other Melee-crab users, if there are any, and see what kinds of builds you guys came up with so I have something to go on. Thanks for any info you can provide!
EDIT: I threw a build together and am pretty surprised at how it turned out. It's just one I threw together out of boredom, though, so any Critiques are appreciated! Also, I realize that this isn't performing to his full potential overall, but I wanted to see what It would make if I went this route.
