  3. Sort of related, would anyone complain if they actually boosted the size of the cave maps?
Like, sewer map size, only rocky? So, y'know, you WEREN'T stuffed into chokingly small spaces? The cave maps are the least fun of any maps.
Well, correction, the ones like the Hollows maps are fine, since they are fairly spacy, but the CoT narrow tunnel ones are horrible things. Absolutely horrible...

Anyone tried summoning an HVAS on one of those tight maps, by the way? Asking out of morbid curiosity...

    Underwater?

These are several species of birds that can't fly, so why would it be different for hero/villain?

And what does this have to do with a robot, energy being, etc that doesn't have lungs being forced to breathe? That's like telling a speedster that he has to take teleport in order to run fast. It doesn't make sense.

Everything has a weakness. Even superman can get knocked out or stunned if the force of the impact is powerful enough. and this still doesn't address the issue that some types of characters don't breathe.

For a living being endurance represents exhaustion. For an artificial life form it represents power reserves. Capacitors, etc need to recharge before it can use it's powers again.

Endurance is only here for game balance and the devs have openly stated that they would get rid of it entirely if they had their druthers.
    ^ This

If Underwater ever is implemented, leave the details up to the characters and the players.
Forcing them to pick a power, even if it's a temp, just to swim, is so much BS it's unbelievable.
  7. Wait, wait, sorry but, the hell?

WHY is PvP being used as a reason that this isn't getting ported?
Now, I dunno what PvP is like over the pond, but EU side it...isn't. Just isn't.

If PvP is limiting any power prolif or new ideas, then that's just fail beyond all belief.

I also hold that he's better than Granite

Brutes, I have yet to get my invul one to the level of my WP one, so I'll get back to ya on that.

Not quite true, so long as they set the ping levels to a decent level.

That was the worst mistake made by Epic on Gears of War 2. They raised the ping from either 150 or 175 to 200...the result was catastrophic. Online play on any competetive multiplayer map became a very simple equation; Host = win. That was it. The Host team WON. Because, sadly, it tended to add in people with shoddy connections who must have lived in the a$$ end of nowhere with 75kb connections. The rest of the players were lagged into the ground.

The same was true for Horde mode, but at least then you just quit and tried again. Yes it meant the team lost people, but no one should be forced to play when you can hold down fire indefinately and you're lagging so bad your ammo doesnt decrease ever. And you cant hit anything.
    Fail on the highest level.

CoD4, WaW and Halo never seemed to suffer that problem, thankfully.

That guy sounds exactly like my Lord Atom. Except, y'know..Atom's a villain...and simply uses the armour to store the radiation at such a mass that it actually acts like a generator. And actively explodes the stuff on people, so, y'know

I find the best ones come from Sam the bartender, the one on the ground floor of Pocket D blueside near the vault. I SWEAR to god that guy listens to convos.
Somebody would say something like 'Thats just wierd' or something, and Sam would come in with 'I hear that'.

I wanted to come up with something different. The Haunting Banners were a way to get people to spread out a bit, work together, and go looking for their adventure.

We had a very small time frame in which to borrow the Art team since they're neck deep in Going Rogue so I had to get creative! I think they did a beautiful job on the Banners and FX and I am well pleased.

The UI was put in to help you figure out what to do since this event is different from an invasion. This one involves simultaneous objectives and communication even though people aren't necessarily on the same team.

During testing we had some good feedback, which was essentially one of a few things:

    a. Totally figured out what to do and it was awesome!
    b. Totally couldn't figure out what to do and it sucked!
    c. I really wish I knew the backstory on this.

That, and, "You really need to show me how to find the GM. I can't find him."

So we added information to the UI so that players could read the backstory and/or find out some strategy or how the event works and how to get to the GM at the end. I didn't want to give everything away (because what's the fun in that?), but I didn't want to overly frustrate players either with new sets of rules that no one but myself knows. (What do you mean, you can't read my mind?) and

By the way, the ParagonWiki info is great, even though it says it's a work in progress.

So, in reading the above posts about the event, I'll keep plugging through feedback and see what you liked and what you didn't and file it away for future reference (if they let me do this again). Ooo...Deadly War Witch Apocalypse...nevermind.

And I know that the Code team is scanning the forums for issues about stability and crashes so they're on top of that.

    That's it from this end.

Have a fantastic Halloween and for those of you attending HeroCon, I will see you in a few days!

    War Witch
Get someone to flog Jay, or whoever it is, and get them to produce some new models for next year.
    And a new server hamster.

That aside, it's very well done. It's also an example of how a 'Capture the Flag' idea could work in game, which I noticed people asking for a lot a while back.

Ace job WW, as always =]

I like that. I really like that.
Being a Bots/Traps MM, and, yes, I DO have an attack in there, it'd be nice not to be mauled on end when I need to re-spawn pets.

Although they dont die too often, due to shields, FF gen and the +def IO...but even so, certain MM secondaries are end heavier than some (pain, probably, but that only counts if your healing your team more than you pets).
    -shrug- Meh, really.

    Underwater?

Oblivion is another that handles it fairly well (Engaging armourhandwave.exe)
Breath meter and all that, melee weapons only. Well, you CAN fire a bow down there...but the range is so abysmal it might as well be a melee weapon.

Its dark down their. MURKY. There are fish, with TEETH. Oh, and spells dont work. And, unless your an Argonian (reptile type) you need to surface for air.
If you happen to be a lizard person, you can of course give yourself the heebeejeebees as much as you like

Would rather see more important things like, I dunno, revamped hero zones, fixed bugs and stuff, before this.
  17. Thinking about it at lower levels...

I know theres been times I've had to to re-roll for really silly reasons like (back in the day this was) I got the hieght wrong, screwed up a power selection and didn't want to bother with a respec, or plain just wanted to channge things around.

But I get the logic of the no full respec thing, and I dont see an exception happening. -shrug-

    Update the Bases

    New base PVP

    1. Server makes a copy of the base to be invaded.
    2. All items are flagged as destructible, with values similar to Mayhem destructibles. Storage items are only copies of the real ones, so no losses.
    3. Blow it all up.
    4. After battle, return to old ('repaired') base.

If everything is destructible, pathing doesn't matter. No 'TP Jails'. No blocking off the energy room. And it would be so so so so fun to blow all of this...

    ...up.

    Hmmm....destruction.
    We have a winner.

First off, though, they need to make bases a HELL of a lot more stable.
Lag when you have a lot of items all in one place is...killer. Putting it lightly.
  19. Very people actually bother making threads. They just expect them to turn up.
It was a bit wierd moving, but I know I found it better.

    The login bug can be solved by using;

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/

Not the old uk. something address. Someone posted that in another thread, followed it, no login bug ever since.

If you want threads, make em. People will post.
  20. It probably shouldnt be here at all. Just by forum rules.

    Since it is, though..
I played CoD4 on the Xbox. It worked fine. No, correction, it was the best damn FPS I had ever played, and was also the first one I actually brought rather than borrowed.

As soon as I get access to Live again (stupid fragging Uni proxy...) then I will be playing a lot of stuff online again.

  24. Yeah, a lot of the old content is somewhat clunky (I've said it before, but it bears repeating )

Crey are one of the clunkier handed ones, t'be honest. A revamp of the low level missions so that you get a bit more of an idea of the wider world would be cool.
Y'know, Crey being a 'slightly grey' part of the good side, like Hero Corps, what Longbow actually do (rather than get beaten up by Hellions), how the Rogue Isles aren't just a bunch of evil people, but an actual UN recognised state and all that.

More background, more life to a world that has a heckuva lot of un-mined potential.

    Nice Job, Devs.

I blame the servers, not the Devs.
The EU servers are slowing getting more shot than a ski slope after Easter. Like, you can see the brown.

The event itself is nicely done, I think. New system and suchnot. The only letdown, I thought, was the lack of new models, something I commented on in Test.

That said, if its resources that are best spent on Going Rogue and stuff, it's no biggy. Maybe they can do that for next year =P
So yeah, pretty good job I'd say.
