I'd have to agree with the 'How dare you call me stupid for spending money on what I wish' contingent. Would I be annoyed if they added this to the game and said 'Oh, we're locking this behind the level 20 Cape/level 30 aura missions?'
Yes. Yes I would.
Do I get annoyed that they lock things like the Roman Costume pieces, military epaulettes and Vanguard pieces away? Yes.
Why?
Because I like having my character made from the get-go. I hate it in fantasy games where I look like a riot of colour from quest armour, simply because I have no choice in the matter if I don't want to get killed, with only later on being able to get matching sets.
Playing Rushmore up to level 20 was... weird. Very weird. Why? No cape. Big American hero in red, white and blue, and no cape. He -needed- a cape, he did not look right without a cape, but I had to wait till level 20 to get that cape. Did this wait make the cape rewarding? Did running about all over the zones before doing a tiny little mission make the cape any better?
No. It made it worse. It made it -annoying- and pointless. In a game that touts it's character customization, gating essential costume pieces to the hero world like this is foolish, and now we can have capes beforehand (Shoulder, Valkyrie, Magic pack) it makes even less sense to gate it. If Capes and Auras are unlocked on one character, they should be unlocked on them all.
Auras are another thing that sticks in my craw. If you have a character who has glowing eyes? Level 30. That's how long you need to wait to actually complete your characters look. The Glowing Eyes face could seriously do with an update to add in the same tech that the Organic/Bioluminescent armour got, and pieces of the Resistance gear, but it still isn't actually a pair of glowing eyes.
Of course, now with Omega/Alpha auras, the combat auras from the Cyborg pack, there's yet again no need to lock the rest away at this high level (And Heroside, it's a pretty stupid story reason to get it. 'I'll implant you with alien, freak and mutant goup so you can glow as you get more powerful?' No. Just no.)
I welcome this pack, will gladly pay for it (Unlike the Party Pack, which is still too expensive for what it is, especially as the dances -should- have been in GR, Positron) and use a fair number of the capes and auras.
And hope that the sillyness will end and that the costume system will become what I think it should be, open and customizable from the get-go, without slaying 300 x or doing high level TF's or grinding for 1000 vanguard merits. -

Quote:If the price was reasonable, and for all characters?Hey all, I've recently started playing CoH again after feeling the pull of rival MMOs. I've never kept up with the forums, so i may not be in the right place, and thousands of people have probably suggested this before - in which case, tell me to shut up.
But anyway, the title is kinda self explanatory. I'm addicted to making new costumes, but i normally run out of slots for them. So I thought it would be an idea if we could buy extra costume slots account-wide, either with real world money, or through in game currency. I am assuming having a load of costume slots wouldn't break the game engine or something, and it might take more effort to implement than is worth it, but I would definatly pay to use all my costumes. I know this idea is just stolen from a certain rival superhero MMO, but i really liked it
So, what do people think? Would people pay to get more costume slots?
I'd buy it.
Most of my characters need more costume slots, especially ones with hats/mask/headgear/jackets, because sometimes you just want to take off a hat/mask/helmet, or remove a jacket. -
Quote:I doubt the people working on Power Pool/APP/EAT Power Customization would be the ones working on new missions and the like, just like you wouldn't expect SexyJay to be doing powers work for the new TF's and Castle to be working on mission maps.As an aside to this question, many folks posting here put this very high. Not surprising given the self-selection inherent in board posting. But a question for you all:
Many of you have said that pool customization is extremely important, for some of you, the most important thing they can do. What about the game? What is the use of having pretty and matching blasts if you're dumped into a game that's doesn't get improvements because the coders are spending time trying to get pool customization right and the content designers can't get time on their schedule?
I guess for me, the looks is nice, but when it's all said and done, this is a game. The gameplay has to take precedence or why not just create a standalone "hero-creator" with a few offline missions and sell it for $50 bucks.

Quote:Atlas Park > Vanguard Base, tailor for use in there, now that the level restriction of access has been lifted. My sentiments, exactly.
On another note, I suspect that pool customization is largely complicated by when we get our first pool powers: level 6. It's that 6-level delay that makes it impossible for you to customize them when you create the character, so you'd *have* to visit a tailor to do so. If memory serves, there are no tailors currently located in really easy to reach locations for level 6 characters.

Quote:This.That's my take.
And I'm sorry when I said it I deflated BAB's pride in what he had done, which was truly outstanding. But to wait more than one Issue for the Pools to be customized means that Power Customization is, IMO, a failure.
What good is it if I can turn my red primary powers green and my blue secondary powers green but can't turn my overwhelming Speed Pool powers from that hideous yellow to my thematic green?
More people take the Power Pools than any Primary or Secondary and thus, in a way, they become even more Primary. Or they should be prioritized as such.
Until Pool Powers are customizable, what has been done is a unfinished job. And if there was a definite timetable, I could be patient. But because it's unfinished with no definite plan to be finished... sorry to say it... it's just unprofessional.
It might not matter to some players, but it matters to me. A character is the total package: Costume, Powers, Look of Powers (In addition to all that RP stuff.)
Nachtbrecher uses Black and Red for his Dark Melee/Dark Armour powers. This means that his Midnight Grasp is black tentacles with bright red 'rune-like' patterns running up them. I'd love for Dark Mastery > Tenebrous Tentacles to have the same effect, but until EPP Customization, it just won't match the rest of his outfit.
Cindersnap uses a golden coloured fire, but none of his Fire Mastery powers, including his shield, match. I'd love to have the Brute Firey Aura type shield in gold for him, and to tune Hasten to this effect as well.
Quickfrost could never take Hasten, because the glowing orange pom poms would just clash horribly with his cold based powers.
Zortel's Force Mastery just doesn't match with the colour scheme of her blast and EM powers, which go with the various auras and design of her power armour.
Fusebox's electric blasts look different to the ones from her EPP. Why would this be the case?
Sadly though there is somewhat of a precedent for things being left unfinished:
Bases (Last bit of love was... i13 with the change to mask some of the editor's crazy rules of what you can place? And don't even change the Can't Unstack Item prevention that has ruined rooms for me due to a simple mistake?)
Ouroboros (You invent a time machine but don't even utilize it for the myriad of possibilities from CoH's past? First Rikti Invasion, Brass Monday, Sealing of Rulaaru into the Shadow Shard, Opening of Portal Corp, founding of the Freedom Phalanx, and the list goes on.)
Cimerora (A case in point for my opinion of revamped zones over old. The devs in the past have professed a preference for 'new and shiny content' but there's not much content here to begin with. Vastly underused and underdeveloped.) -
Quote:10-15 seconds sounds about right to me. I hate it when a wrong costume changes leaves you floundering, or worse, when making minor adjustments to costumes (Like the addition of auras) and having to wait for the timer to reset.Aye, I don't really see an issue with lowering it a bit. I remember when there was no delay people used to use binds to make it "strobe" between two cossies, which caused issues with server load, especially on any events. But making it 10 seconds is enough to prevent that IMO.

I just don't see the need for it myself, any of our existing origins can easily cover aliens. Natural has been stated by the Devs to include characters like Superman, the Martian Manhunter and others.
It'd throw off the balance of the 5 origin system, require reworking of the Dual Origins and creation of a new set of Single Origin Enhancements, stores to put them in, new contacts in GC/AP, UI changes and changes to the Origin of Power Storylines and any story arc where they have Origin based decisions.
Which is a lot of work really for something that I personally don't feel is needed, compared to what could be done for story/UI/gameworld changes. -
Quote:Someone called CBruce posted, with just one post to their name and an account creation of today. He posted in the comments section on MMORPG and didn't confirm that he was let go but he didn't deny it either rather saying he wanted to make clear that he wasn't the leak. I think it's safe to say that if he was still employed by Paragon Studios, he'd have said so.
The internet has made me skeptical of such things as fact. -
-
As has been said, Paragon Studios have a presence at the New York Comic Con this weekend, and there will be the meet and greet and party afterwards. We're likely, hopefully, going to get:
Details about Issue 19
Details about the new booster pack (Two were mentioned for August in the Razer GR Launch Q&A, the first being the... urgh, Party Pack)
And maybe some future teasing. -

I doubt we'll ever get anywhere close to getting past Mars with humans, or even getting to Mars. We'll likely screw ourselves over with either political conflict, overpopulation, overexploitation of Earth's resources, an energy crisis or some form of pandemic.
We're just too wasteful, too proud, too.... human.
(Don't mind me, just feeling bleh. Give me a few days and I'll be all 'Technology hell yeah' again.) -
'Sup Knightly!
How could we forget you? Welcome back to the game. -
I started in the EU beta in very early 2005, when a friend from another MMO I was finishing playing told me about the beta. I made an Energy/Energy Blaster, and had quite a lot of fun. I particularly liked the costumes, and lack of PVP and gear.
Nowdays I don't mind gear and PVP so much, but I stay for the costumes, the roleplaying and the friends I've made, though currently I'm a little meh towards the game thanks to the whole silence regarding the party pack. -

Union (EU) Server, Galaxy City. Set toggles, went into mission map, toggles reset inside.

One of the April Fools jokes was a new sound setting that had words appear on screen instead. So hitting someone you'd get 'kapow' or whatever, and one of the energy blast visual sound effects was FREEM!
Which became a meme. -

Also, that Rainbow clip someone posted was one of the back tapes that used to be passed around at Christmas parties and so forth, it never actually aired. -
Quote:Whu... wha.... bu... snu.... guh...Extended Endurance (At lv 50 adds up to +200 Stamina)
LV 20 Adds +50 to Stamina
LV 30 Adds +50 to Stamina
LV 40 Adds +50 to Stamina
LV 50 Adds +50 to Stamina
*Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*
[We would like to apologise for this technical difficulty, Zortel should return to functionality soon.]
+200 Endurance?! Do you have -any- idea of how overpowered that is?! That means 300 -base- Endurance, not counting any IO bonuses or accolades. Which will then in turn go and boost the recovery value up to insane amounts as well.
And yet then there's things like a 4% damage buff? Who would take that compared to a crazy amount of Endurance that could pretty much let you do -anything- with no fear or redlining. 8% of Healing? Pretty much the same as above, an absolutely minuscule amount compared to the Endurance and Health ones.
Just say no to Superadine, kids. -
Quote:I knew of Alice in Chains and KMFDM from their music being used in the soundtrack for the Street Fighter 2 animated movie. 'Dem Bones' plays when Ken is driving in one scene, and in the fight between Chun-Li and Vega, 'Ultra' kicks in.
Now that I think about it, I can't believe no one's mentioned KMFDM. Even I didn't mention them. Oh well. KMFDM, check them out. Some of the earliest and best guitar industrial out there. Probably start with the Brute album, then move on to Light. Amazing stuff.
... I think I saw that back in 1999 for the first time. Fair time ago! -
*Heeds the wise DreamWeaver*
(And everyone else of course!)
Muse are a band I originally didn't like, until of course, 'Knights of Cydonia'. The video won me over, and then I got other song recommendations such as 'Plug in Baby', 'Supermassive Black Hole' and 'Invincible', one I need to look into more though.
Bruce Dickinson is a pretty amazing chap. I loved the solo album he put out in... what, 2004? Can't quite recall, nor can I recall where it is annoyingly, and there's always been a bit of Iron Maiden somewhere to listen to.
Dio's... well, Dio. Loved his appearance in 'The Pick of Destiny' and yeah, definitely going to seek out more.
Quote:I figured as much RE: the sound quality.Sweet. Just be advised, some of the stuff on their Myspace is from the really low-fi demo we recorded early on (I was in the band at the time), and the sound quality is not what it maybe should have been. The Crossing, The Red Road, and The Machine Roars to Life are all good songs, but suffered from being recorded over a weekend in an apartment and not having enough time spent on making the bass and lead guitar sound good. The stuff from the album is much, much better in terms of sound quality.
Now, I'm not going to take, take, take (and drain others of their love and emotion), so I feel I should give back some of my favourite music to people who may not know of them. (But likely you do.)
From Finland!

Quote:You do?! ... Whoa.Oh, well, you're in luck, I have that EP already, partial a bit of Run at times
I can't play it this week sadly, I'm doing my first theme night for the Rock Zone (Big Hair Rock!! All the best stuff from the likes of Twisted Sister, Poison, Thunder, Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Kiss etc!! ) but I will definitely play some the week after for you, if you're tuned in, feel free to join the Rogues Radio channel in game, it's a public one!
How many songs are on it? I have... Stationary Decay, Repeatedly (My favourite), Run, The Queen is our Slave and Change.
Wow, this has made my day. Just that someone else out there knows this band.
MentalMaiden:
Have enjoyed a fair number of Queens of the Stone Age songs I've heard, though I think one of my favourites has to be Sky is Falling from 'Songs for the Deaf', which I tend to chuck on during Rikti Raids.
The only Wolfmother track I've heard enough to be stuck in my head is 'Joker and the Thief'.
