  1. I went with Claws/EA, and it's been pretty enjoyable. However Claws goes with just about anything, so I suppose that's not saying much. I discovered that it's fun to sap endurance from enemies with Energy Drain (even if it's not terribly productive), so I took Mu Mastery for help with that.

My next will be Electric/EA, for more sapping fun.
  2. I openly discriminate against people who don't even attempt to communicate in basic sentences, and I'm okay with that. Misspellings are not a big deal, we all make them. But a random "u want team" will just get ignored. Not necessarily put -on- my ignore list, but ignored in the general sense.

Regarding the message of the OP, I actually don't find that sentence easy to read, and for a good reason: it's not simply that we read by words, and not letters. Rather, when the word is being formed in the brain, a prediction is made of how the word should appear. When I read the sentence, I "trip" over the misspelled words and have to re-read them because the misspellings don't quite match up with the prediction. It's reasonable to suppose that some people have an easier time with this than others.

I've seen that quoted study for quite some time now, and I'd guess it's based on research that is now quite dated. I'd look it up, but...meh.

I suppose my confusion stems from the combat monitor which appeared to show stacking stealth effects from EC and Celerity. I have found power descriptions to be more frequently inaccurate than the combat monitor, but regardless.. if it doesn't, it doesn't.

    Changes to EA

With Energy Cloak and Celerity +stealth, I can't bump anything - and this is without Entropic Aura on. In fact they're noticing me within a few feet, never mind being able to "bump" them. I can sneak up, but after a couple seconds of being within a few feet, my stealth just drops and the mob attacks.
  5. I flew around the zone, enjoying the design and admiring the visual details. Unfortunately, I don't have a single character in the right level range to do the content, and it appears that there is no way to access it through Oreoland. I really wish we could do away with level gating...or have Praetorian content added to the flashback system.

    I am the sad panda.
  6. So my guild-leader says the P-Market appears normal for him, while it's still pretty borked for me. I found out that he is running Snow Leopard, while I'm running Lion. Conspiracy?
  7. I'm getting a bit confused now. It sounds like the font issue is resolved for some people, but apparently not for others (and myself)? The market is a bit more readable for me, but all of the button and tab characters are still [X]'s.

    Cebr

Well this I can agree with. I've never been one to farm, as I don't enjoy it and most of my characters are ill-equipped for it (mostly Defenders and Scrappers without damage auras). However I discovered that Cebr was actually fun for me. I haven't reached level 50 through it, and in fact the brute that I ran with is /EA, hardly a good fit for getting the most out of it (though I did play with Claws/Elec up to level 33)

Regardless, in the 7+ years I've been playing, I never looked at the game in the way that Cebr requires. There's a kind of elegance to it, and I liked TopDoc's analogy to riding a bike.

This is happening on both Live and Beta for me.
  10. Zwillinger, my main concern is than the Mac users will not be able to take advantage of the special discounts being offered during the head start, or at least not for the same duration as the PC crowd (assuming the bugs are fixed within a week). Any word on this?

And thank you for the update.

Yes, you might miss out for a while on the 1 new powerset, but perhaps the new powerset proliferations and Time Manipulation would be a small consolation until then.

And all of Issue 21 is available to you. For a VIP, there is no gated new content.

If you're not a VIP, you can't even get on during the VIP Head Start period, making the lack of Store a non-issue.
Perhaps the 20-50% discount on select items in the store during the headstart isn't appealing to you, but it should be available to all VIP members, not just those who happen to be using the PC client.

  14. I can confirm the work-around is working for me. Earlier I mentioned that I was seeing those blocky [x] characters in the Paragon Market, and I still am. However I suppose it's worth mentioning that I am running Lion 10.7.1

I was able to buy and receive the free badge (didn't buy anything else because I couldn't read point costs nor my own point total), buttons/navigation tabs appear to be working fine... aside from the missing font/characters, nothing unusual to report.
  15. I was able to log in, bring up the market... like others, I could not read it (big block [x] characters). I took some screenshots, logged out, and after reviewing the images them I noticed that my UI was disabled. So I deleted the screenshots, and tried to log back in, only this time the Beta would not fire-up. I attempted to Repair, and the repair crashes (with an apple crash log) at the very end of it.

I right now I am reinstalling the Beta, though I wish I had read this thread a hair sooner. :P

It does feel like Freedom is right around the corner, and so far the Mac-users haven't been able to test any of the Market functions, which is arguably the most important component of i21.
  17. Deleted a couple characters this morning, and the newly-emptied slots are locked. Naturally this would happen when I suddenly thought of a great character idea. =P

It also looks like the NC store is down. Coincidence? Conspiracy? Nemesis?

If Castle wouldn't give human form shields mez protection for fear of obviating dwarf, then Light Form's current incarnation pretty much made the dwarf fade into non-existence.
This is exactly why I say that the Devs still don't know what to do with PBs. This particular flavor of the Kheldian AT has a reputation for poor synergy amongst it's powers, and the new changes to Lightform, while useful to human-form builds, highlight this ongoing problem.
  19. I really wouldn't mind a revamp of the AT, although I can imagine that the purple Kheldians are pretty content with their lot.

Overall, Kheldians (and really I mean Peacebringers here) strike me as another relic from a period of game design when the devs were inadvertently designing "against the grain". The game is full of this stuff because it's well over 7 years old now. It's foolish to believe that an MMO is designed purely by it's staff, and we're all just along for the ride. Players take a role in influencing the design. Sometimes the designers can anticipate or cater to the player trend, and sometimes they just miss. PB's fall into the latter category, IMO.

Oh, sure there will be some who don't mind the way way that Kheldians play, and it's possible there are even a few who enjoy the constant shapeshifting, or the lack of synergy between PB abilities. But the Devs have demonstrated a new "finesse" in AT/powerset design since the days of Cryptic, and Kheldians, more than any other AT, could benefit from it.

I've considered the possibility that I "just don't get it", that PB's are just not my thing. But I've also been playing this game for as long as it's been running. I've played every AT, and decided that stalkers aren't my cup of tea. Not that they are poor performers, but I just don't care for the play style, so I never leveled one up. PB's, on the other hand, just feel mishandled. In all the years I've been playing, my PB was the only 50 I ever deleted.

With the current changes on Beta, it still just seems like the Devs don't know what to do with PBs.

Aside from sending bug reports to Paragon and/or Transgaming, what exactly can we, the Mac client users, do? I'm not a programmer, I don't know the first thing about it. I can only -describe- the problems I encounter, I certainly can't troubleshoot them.

Now I've seen some comments in this thread about Mac players not helping enough...

When I look at this Mac forum, it's a sea of complaints about (largely) the same problems that have been completely unaddressed, and frankly unacknowledged, for a very long time. What else can be done? From where I'm standing, I see a lot of Mac players making their troubles known, while Paragon remains (mostly) silent. If Paragon and Transgaming remain unmoved by our complaints, then what is left to do? Bad reviews and ratings?

Personally I think NCSoft should re-evaluate it's relationship with Transgaming, but I imagine that the Mac portion of the player base is too small to warrant any drastic measures to remedy the situation.
  21. My initial impressions of CoH in Lion were good for several days after installing Lion, however that changed last night. I am suddenly experiencing Assertion Failures, which were extremely rare when I ran Snow Leopard. I've always had the memory leak crash which could be managed with /reloadgfx, but this assertion failure is new and, unlike the memory issue which builds up over a prolonged period of gameplay, doesn't seem to have any predictability. It might crash after an hour of play, or it might crash right when I first log into the game.
  22. Storm Armor!
    Psionic armor/melee!

Oh and howsabout some dark powers that don't look like muddy pixelated low-res garbage? Yes please!
  23. It's unfortunate that the Suckerpunch planner was abandoned, a browser-based planner seems like the ideal solution for a cross-platform audience.

I have entertained the idea of learning Objective C and Xcode, but my brain doesn't seem wired for programming.

Oddly enough the ERP crowd isn't the type that annoys me the most. The thing that bothers me is that everyone -not- ERPing in Pocket D is roleplaying the -exact- same character. Regardless of their backstory/character description/etc they will all be "smart alecs" who seem to have lifted their sense of humour straight from a badly written version of family guy. Even the demi-gods, paladins, robots, and whatever else all seem to be "chasing the joke".

I would love to meet some RPers who don't live vicariously through their characters.
Glad I'm not the only one who has made this observation. =3

In defense of the D,however, I have met some great people/characters there, and even found a great VG to join, finally. Of course, this is pretty seldom, but I still find myself going back once in a while because the odds of making a friend there are still better than in random iTrial PUGs and speed TFs.

I know PD is a popular RP hub because it allows both sides to mingle, but I think it's also the fact that it is not a mission hub, outside of special events. Some have mentioned other co-op zones as potential RP hubs, but they will never work well due to the latter. A good RP location requires very few barriers to entry and a lack of mission/quest content in the immediate area to keep general traffic and chatter low. As a result, PD remains the only "attractive" RP environment, despite the other more interesting locations we have. The people who -do- RP in other, more public places tend to do so privately to avoid the haters, so it's never really clear when RP is even happening.

On the forums I always read the claims from people who RP at any time, with any one, any where, and on any team. My in-game experience tells me that is a rare occurrence.
  25. Thanks Finduilas, I'll give that Kismet a shot.

End hasn't been a big issue, which is why I took recharge over end reduction... though I suppose Arachnos Mu would be less of a problem if I wasn't burning so much endurance.

As for the -KB, that is only there for the (3) set bonus. I'm not sure how to figure out which would be effective, +28 hitpoints (and it's effect on Regen) vs. the added resistance... though I'm guessing the Resistance is probably more effective.

    @KingLeo07

I don't know -how- to get more defense, to be honest. I'm not that savvy about all the possible set combinations and bonuses, but I've tried to get as much +Def as I can, and I'm still pretty shy of the cap. It hasn't been a big deal, since (as Finduilas mentioned), I'm close enough to reach it with a single inspiration. However if I knew where I could get more defense from, I'd probably do it (keeping in mind that I do not slot purple sets).
