With "Going Rogue" to come out at some time chances are you can take your stalker and side switch him blueside, so that part of it would still pan out further down the road.
  2. The only real advice I can give about this is that if your going to do this you should probably make a stalker instead so you can get a stealth that might actually work. Otherwise your going to find yourself being face down alot. I guess you could try and use +stealth IO but those are both expensive and easy to defeat unless you have a better stealth power.

As for the goto command, with everyone gang banging at the door there was no empty space to click >_< also not /traps. After playing it a bit after this I noticed that I CAn walk through them but for some reason sometimes it does work and sometimes it dosent.

Im not sure if this has or hasent happened. I havent noticed myself critting more on AE teams anymore than I have playing solo, prehaps Im just missing it?

All in all I think you managed to hit all of the "Stalkers are useless" stereotypes that haven't been true since day one and are less true now. With attitudes like this being spread around, while ignoring tiny little things like facts in order to make a case, I can't imagine why you'd think that Stalkers will have a hard time getting teams.

You're welcome to have the opinion that Stalkers are worthless on teams, but you may want to at least base it on something more than "I read it on the internet so it must be true" if you expect anyone to take you seriously on it. The only point you mentioned that's still true after the Stalker buff is that Stealth is irrelevant on teams.
So educate me. You havent given one reason why anyone would want a stalker over any other class in the game. Please. Tell me. Im actually intrested to know what it is that they bring to the table. Again not hating on them as I love the class, I put 2 to 50 and i play them often but seeing as you so handily told me Im wrong prehaps you can tell me what it is they bring and what is it they will bring after GR comes live?

Just today I was searching for a team and excluded from the search window the Cap's map and saw significantly fewer villains.

Anyways, being that i run primarily PvE missions and prefer teaming (it is an MMO afterall), I am finding that the invites to missison teams have really picked up. My impression is that those who want to run missions have less to choose from and so stalkers are just as desireable as any other person.

Once i am on a team I more than pull my weight so I figure these teaming moments where I may have been little more than a warm body initially are an opportunity to show what a stalker can do.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in invites to their stalkers?
The reason stalkers are invited to AE is because they are a warm body and fill out spawns. Given half a chance if the population redside was as big as the hero side the stalker would be replaced with another class that dps's better and has more survivability. Unlike games like WoW stalkers really have no group role and preform like a weaker version of a scrapper. When the slider and GR come online I expect it will be 100x harder for a stalker to get a group.

Im not hating on the stalker (I have one and love it) Im just calling it as I see it. Whenever I see one in an AE group they are short lived on the team and are quickly replaced with something that survives better and contributes more to the group. With GR coming out I expect to be passed over for a scrapper, a class that deals both better damage and has better survivability.

Again, not hating on them just pointing out. What can a stalker bring to the group that any other class cannot? for that mater what can they bring that no other class can but better?

Stealth: well this is kinda useless in a group, even the ability to 'scout out' the area is useless because it dosent mater in this game. people are just gonna wade in and kill everything.

AS: Well thats good..once. Then you placate. Do it again. But how often do you actually DO that? Normally the mobs dead before you get the second one off or the groups already blown it out of the water before you can even get the first one off. Lets not forget the fear! oh wait, thats seemingly random and most of the time dosent trigger. Also lets not forget that if the mob DOES live you probably got the aggro.

Crits: Woot crits! well they ARE helpful but scrappers also have this. Given the amount of scrappers hero side, when GR comes out we should have quite the flood of them villain side. So villains will get to choose between one class with 10% crit chance or another class with 10% crit but better survivability.

Stalkers are good DPS!: True but many other classes get better DPS than stalkers do, and many of them do it from a distance and bring a secondairy that can actually HELP the group. Stalkers sink so much of their being into that AS that its not even funny.

All in all after the slider and GR the only place I expect to see a stalker is on a pvp field. Unless the developers give stalkers something eles that no one eles has or some sort of group utility I see alot of stalkers getting dusty while this game becomes "City of Soloer's"

    Few MM questions

@Knight: I thought about doing a Ninja/Trick MM and taking some of the arrow attacks from the MM set to go along with the Trick arrows just as a concept character (natural mm) but sadly that seems more trouble than its worth even though I can PL him through AE I would feel like Im just dead weight to a team.

As for petless MM Ive seen some /healer type mms that do well in groups without pets but thats mostly for groups. In some cases pets are a hinderence, but most times they are just damn handy to have provided they are not causeing your choosen tank to have to run all over the place trying to catch the mobs.

I think I might go Thugs/Pain. I would like to go with zombies but melee pets seem really suicidal in the AI department.

    Allow..

MMs to walk through their own pets and if grouped allow the players in the group to walk through them. Do not allow people to walk through them in PvP zones, other than that I cant see why this isnt done. Is it a problem with making it so mobs dont walk through em or is it just a pain in the butt to code? We can make them 'go to' a spot to get out of out way but given alot of maps this is a bit above and beyond the call of micro managing (Like MMs dont seem to have enough of it) on top of this its a hassle for any of the team who happens to get stuck behind those giant metal plated butt robots. If for some reason that cant be done how about this.

A 'Phase' mode where the pets a temporarily unsummoned so people can get around them. While unsumoned the pets gain or provide any benifit to the MM until they are 'phased' back in. When phased back in they would re-appear in the spot they phased out from (This is to prevent any sort of abuse) and can only be done out of combat.

I just thought i would put that out there since MM pets are getting made so they can zone now.

    Few MM questions

Im going to roll up a thugs MM and had a few questions. Now Ive played an MM a few times but never really just set out to do it and had some questions I was wondering about.

    1. Set bonuses: Do these only apply to the MM? for example if there is a set bonus of +2% damage is that only for the MM?

    2. If the above question is true, does this mean that the best course of action is frankenslotting?

    3. I want decent survivability with the build for soloing but i want those thugs hitting hard, what would be a good second for that? What would I slot for?

    4. Leadership Toggles seem to be a must for Thugs as it adds to the ones stacked from the MM inherant and the Enforcer leadership. Are these abilities worth slotting or should they stay as one slot?

    5. What pools are standard for a thugs MM? Tough/Weave? Fitness?

    6. Any of the Duel Pistol abilities worth slotting up or taking or should i ignore them completly?
  11. Brutes play like brutes. You can tank if you want or dont tank if you want. Seen them be effective both ways. hell Ive seen blasters tank it just depends on if you want your build to do that or not. Come to think of it its odd to see a non /stone brute even tank. I play mine like a frog on crack hopping from one spawn to another keeping the fury bar as high as it will go, but as I made a DB/Wp brute i dont do the worlds best tanking. Think next brute Im gonna make will be DB less, dont get me wrong, its a fun set but with most of the game resisting its damage type and being addicted to Strike vitals and sweep It plays less like a SMASH! set than any others Ive played.

On a side note i have tanked for TFs and the like when there wasent a /stone or a tankermind about. Its remarkable just how many people expect a brute to be a tank build, actually I find this the case more than people assuming corruptors are healers.

Oddly the real jack of trades Villain side is the masterminds. They can get a skill set that makes them tankers or they can get a healing set and be healers. What other class can do that? 0_o

This is the case of me watching too many cartoons where they had it on the back, I figured they might be carried on the hip but wasent sure.

Either way given the limitations of the character models, animations, ect....they have had years to figure something out. Im not saying its *THAT* simple but after 5 years you would have thought they would have made SOME headway on the problem if that were the case. I'm guessing its just on the very bottom of the 'todo' list. Probably just below the 'Bork PVP' and just above 'Fix Pvp'

EDIT: also i noticed that the 5 buck jet pack from the store works and looks just fine on my huge character....
  13. WoW is what I like to call a 'level' trap. Its made so that you basicly have to rework for everything you had before. Its a kick in the balls to players who spent alot of their time raiding/pvping to get the items they have now. Its one of the reasons I left.

Co* has no such system in place, and as such all your hard work collecting all those IO's you have do not go to waste. Instead they add new powersets, badges, areas, and play options which has worked well to a degree for them and allowed them breathing room to try diffrent things.

WoW isnt going to change no matter how shiny it looks. Its going to make all your efforts trivial with each expansion pack made because thats the way it was made. The next one after that will be 90, then 95, then 100.

I for one am glad when i hit 50 i can IO the character out and not be worried that in another 6 months Im going to have to grind all that crap out again, and can actually focus on playing other powersets and character types.

EDIT: on a side note raising the level cap wont add anything, at best its just a lazy mans way out of having to actually think up content and options for already existing high levels. Even if they did, people would be like "well what about 70?" no problem solved. just more wasted time
  14. I find it odd that this game has been around for as long as it has been without some form of back costuming other than capes/wings. Here is a small list of what I would have thought would have been in the game by now back wise.

    Jetpacks:

Yes we DO have jet packs but only temp ones, for some reason one of the most basic of 'super hero' travel items is ignored as a costume option for natural or tech origin heroes. Why is that? Its not like we dont see npcs with them all the time so why cant we have it? Even the jump packs would be good for a costume option for super jump. Instead we get rocket boots and tech wings.

    Weapons on Back

Ever wonder where the heck your DB, Mace, axe or katana hero puts their weapons? Even if it dosent show them actually pulling the weapon off i would love it if they just showed the weapons on the back.

    Backpacks

Odd we dont have these either. Military bags, schoolbags, ect. Just seems odd.

It just seems odd that these items were never added to the game as options for costuming. Looking over the costume request thread i can seem more than a few posts asking for these things. What i want to know is why after this many years of the game being online havent these been put in? NPCs have them, is there some reason PCs dont get them? Id settle for the ones thay have at least!

Had to cap that because it was kinda ironic.

Anyway had to say that most if not all brute second set of skills seemed some what balanced to me though some are better than others. EA is my least favorite of the sets but thats personal prefrence more than anything eles. As odd as it may seem surviving 5 even conned minions seems more than doable in all sets, even freaks. Should be fairly easy to boost how good your effectivness is with IO's and set bonuses. Also taking Pools is a must for any build, i mean after all unless you spend your entire life in AE your going to want a travel power and the extra defence/resists that some of the pool powers give are just too good to pass up (save on /WP which really dosent need them)

I hate to say it but Pling a character dosent give you any idea on how a skill set works (or really any in depth way on how it works) some players can figure it out some cant. You miss that leaning curve at low levels which basicly teaches you about what the set can and cant do. Best advice is slot up any holes you see and patch em up with Power pool picks if you think its required.

    Time Cards

I know it probably defeats the reason for going to a game shop to get the card but cant you get them online?

    IE Amazon.com?

    Character rename

10 bucks really isnt that much considering its not something you do every day. Ive never really saw the need to rename any of my characters personally but a few people I know do. *shrugs* guess it really depends on the way you look at things.

    Bloody Bay tag

The hero part wasent a mistake, he logged onto a hero to talk to me, dont ask me why prehaps red side cant talk to blue side in pvp zones? donno, never tried or prehaps if he stayed on long enough with his MM he thought i would hunt him down?

Anyway I didnt plan on quitting, was just kinda taken aback that some one would get like that in a pvp zone. Oddly when i went to kill shivans I did that in one of my flashback missons =)
  20. I agree, there really needs to be a description of what most of these do in pvp since a huge chunk of them either dont work at all or are not even noticeable in pvp. also it would help if the sillks were reworked so they WOULD be useful in pvp rather than both sides just healing and throwing balls of fire at each other.

Oh and fix Def...no way am I gonna use another def toon in pvp..
  21. Zanthar

    Bloody Bay tag

Im not sure how to take this, if its the state of the game's pvp or what. Let me start by saying Im a PvP noob (to this game anyway) so Im just about a free kill for anyone out there, on top of this Im a Arch/Dev blaster, so alot of my second set of skills is pointless in most cases.

Anyway I enter BB for the first time as Ive never been there before. Excited to see some pvp action i notice its very..quiet. Im the only one there. No biggie I'll just hop around for a while and get some time on the badge here. About 2 or so hours roll by and Im still killing Mobs in the area for my own amusement when i get a message about a new bounty in the area.

oooh! someone to go kill or be killed by! finally some action! No sooner had i thought that the guy zoned out. Oh..well thats dissapointing. Go back to random killing. Few minutes he's back, then zones..wtf? So this happens for the better part of half an hour or so when i get a whisper from a hero (I am also a hero).

    Hero: hey
    Me: hey
Hero; can you leave the area?
Me: Why? Im waiting on some pvp action here.
Hero: My mastermind needs to get a badge from here.
    Me: so..get it?
Hero: no, you will kill me.
Me: thats kinda the point of the pvp zone isnt it?
Hero: Yes but I dont want to pvp
Me; so dont come in here?
Hero: I have to get that badge.
Me: so get it or dont, i dont care but Im still going to attempt to kill anyone who enters here.

    Hero: Thats just rude.
Me: whats rude? Me pvping? ok wow..
Hero: Just dont Kill me when i come in. i just want the badge.
Me: Im telling you Im gonna shoot your MM in the face when i see him in here but go right ahead and try to get the badge. You may get lucky since I have no idea where its at.
Hero: So you wont kill me?
Me: you havent been listening to a thing Ive said have you?
    Hero: yes
Me: so you know Im gonna shoot your MM full of holes with lots of sharp wooden sticks right?
    Hero: why?!
Me: ITS A PVP ZONE! IE a WAR ZONE! Your MM is the enemy and i have arrows I wanna shoot at him with.
Hero: If you do Im reporting you for harassment
    Me: go for it..

He never hid show but his MM kept poping his head in every now and then to see if I was still there. Either way this was my first 'PVP' argument Ive had and sadly Im primarily a PvE person who was just plain bored and poked my head in to see what all the fuss was about. Some one please tell me this isnt a normal thing..

Oh and what badge was he going for anyway??!

Honestly though, a blaster team is about the best team out there, throw in a healer just in case and BOOM! Mission Complete!
  23. It seems to me that basing an ability on letting your team mates die or come close to it is full of /fail to begin with. "Yeah I would help you but..well..if you get the crud kicked out of you some more I get better boosts!"

Yeah..I dont play defenders but the thought that some one would think this was a good thing kinda makes me sad. On top of this it doesnt even help if you play solo like most of the others do.

If its truly ment to help in a team situation it should randomly spike heals 20% of the time and 10% of the time reduce the cost of buffs. Or some thing like that.
  24. I was actually considering this myself and Id have to say i would go with leadership. While less on Def it does open up another power selection and allow you to get assault, both of which can help any team as well as yourself. The main reason i wouldent get fighting is you have to take a ability thats totally worthless to anyone in order to just get to the stuff you would need. again its just my thought on it. No one on a team ever complains about getting extra Def or extra Damage even if your character hardly notices it
  25. Im trying to figure out how one would IO out a dark/Dark, she's still low level so i have some time to get the things i need but the question i have is: Is IO'ing a Corruptor alot like IO'ing a blaster? Do i try and cap ranged def?
