It's 9.99, and yes, it's the only way to rename (save getting hit with a generic stick, which is rare.)
Well, if your character is low enough that you don't mind re rolling that's another way. Otherwise, yeah paying the 9.99 is the only way
Yeah, 10 bucks is RIGHT OUT. At $1.99 I might consider it. $0.99 I would be OK with, although I would not make it a habit. It does not matter to me that much. I figured if it were cheap (trivial) I might go ahead and buy it.

I wonder how many people are willing to pay 10 bucks for this. Seriously, even if it were 10 bucks and you could rename all of your characters every single month, I would not see that worth the price. This is the first time I have ever wanted to change my character name. The name I have is fine, but I just thought of a better one, that's all.
Of course, if you do buy this token, what if the new name is taken? Is there a way to check a name first? The only way I know is to actually make a character with that name.
If you look on the character select screen you'll see a button on the bottom that says Check Name.
Report your own toons name as offensive and wait to see if you get hit with the generichammer, or as I call it... the free rename token!

If that happens, I believe you are issued a name-change token (at no cost), although having this happen would certainly be nothing to be proud of.

Plenty of people do. It's not a trivial cost so that it's not something people will do on a whim, or as part of a scheme to grief/stalk someone else. It's more than cheap enough for people who get all the way to 50 find it's a character they really love, except they had to settle for a name they didn't like so much.
Or in my case, I did it as a gift to my girlfriend. She had a villain she liked a lot, I had an Arachnos Soldier I had given a throwaway name to. I renamed him to something that fit in with her character and origin story, as a surprise. That kind of thing (making characters that fit together) is important to us, and she was very happy.

10 bucks really isnt that much considering its not something you do every day. Ive never really saw the need to rename any of my characters personally but a few people I know do. *shrugs* guess it really depends on the way you look at things.

How much does this cost and is it for one character only?
Is this the only way to rename a character?
