This is pretty awesome. I happen to be the father of a 6 year old that just recently started playing, and I can see all of the things the OP mentioned happening with my daughter. She absolutely loved the Halloween event and teaming with others for the special trial was a little scary at first since I didn't know for sure how she would handle herself playing with people other than me. My fears turned out to be unfounded as she not only handled herself very well, but was far more mature than the Scrapper that rage quit because he couldn't get all the badges. She is very much looking forward the next holiday event.

Quote:Wow. On ABC? Her past is pretty dark; I'm guessing that they would either heavily editorialize it, or just never show it.
While the background of Jessica Jones is interesting, she's been kind of a bland player in recent times. I sometime wonder if she was brought into the fold just to antagonize Luke Cage. It may just be me, but every issue appears to have her either worrying about the baby or trying to convince Luke to retire. I can understand the sentiments behind both, but it seems like it's emphasized on a far too regular basis.
Because comic writers don't know how to handle relationships between adults. -
Quote:If you need to have Hibernate up every 45 seconds as a Tank, the problem is not Hibernate. You should really look at your build/playstyle if your Tank is burning through that many hit points that fast.
The other option, which I think is still far better than the current state, is to put Hibernate on a 45 seconds hard recharge and make it unaffected from recharge enhancements and such.
Quote:I always thought that Guild Wars did the PvE/PvP balancing right. After enough PvE players complained of skill changes based upon PvP considerations, the devs changed the system to allow skills to have PvP stats separate from their PvE stats. If you decided to go to PvP, then the PvP stats would govern.
CoH separated it's PvE and PvP stats in issue 13. PvE and PvP have been two completely separate games ever since and have no relation to each other. This means that any nerfs that occured in PvE were do to PvE concerns only and cannot be laid at PvPs feet, as much as some people would love to do that. -
Two things:
1) You didn't mention which server you would be doing this on.
2) You might mention to the players that show up that F2P can't get IO drops so they won't be too disappointed. -
Quote:False. It is incredibly easy to launch one attack. I don't know anything in pvp easier than this.
It's not about launching one attack. It's about 3 or more people launching one attack simultaneously so the target doesn't just phase/heal. Good luck getting 3 or more Stalkers to do that. Something about the AT tends to attract shortbus kids. -
This exactly. Spiking is kind of like ASing. Either they can do it, or they can't. If they aren't good enough to AS a target, which 90% of them aren't, they won't be good enough to spike anything with any precision.
In RV occasionally there will be teams of Stalkers that will Shark spike people effectively, but that tends to be counter productive since at that point people tend to just throw up their hands at Dev stupidity and leave. There generally aren't enough people playing VEATS hero side to fight that strategy, so why bother. -

Quote:So you want me to redo all six of my stalker's builds because you had a bad Jaws experience as a kid? Sounds more of a hinderance to me.
So a power that is now being used in a zone it was never intended to be used in just so you don't have to be inconvenienced is acceptable to you? The fact that you have six Stalkers tells me you are more interested in protecting your self interests than in protecting what little integrity PvP may have left. Try to be a little less selfish, m'k? -
I have long been of the opinion that no AT should be able to 1 or 2 shot anybody. Any power being able to do that in any zone is a problem, regardless of the justifications that people make up.
Sharks is a problem not only because of the ability to deliver a huge packet of damage from complete safety at range (which not even Blasters can do), but also because it minimizes the ATs most powerfull attack. A well slotted AS even in it's nerfed form deals about 50% more damage than Sharks. The ability to AS a moving target has long been seen as one of the last indicators of skill left in the game, but now is looked at with disdain because Sharks is easier and safer. In other words, we are dumbing down an already dumb process. -
When was it decided that the Stalker should be a support AT? The write up was nice and makes some interesting points, but is working off of a flawed premise. The Stalker is, and always has been a Damage AT, not support.

I've learned that there are two things in this world I should never mess with: Electricity and animals that can kill me. With either one of them, it doesn't matter how much experience you have or how careful you may be, it's only a matter of time before you get hurt.

Yeah, USAToday has some of the absolute worst trolls. They will find a way to link anything to either the Republicans or Dems in a negative way, regardless of what the article may be about.
Like this guy:
Quote:One more idiot actor that sides with obaMAO while the country is in shambles. One more millionaire, like his friend obaMao who rant that they are good millionaires, but Wall St is bad millionaires. These marxists are too stupid to know they are stupid. -
That's what Hami-Os are for. Slot 2-3 of those and proc away.

Ah, ok missed that. Thank you for the clarification. I guess I let my skepticism get the best of me.

This was the only reboot title I was remotely interested in until I saw this:
Quote:"I absolutely love Mark's take on the character, even though we really only see the true Billy Batson for a second or two before he dies," Frank said.
No thanks. -
Quote:They are just not fun. They add more complexity and confusion than they are worth. They don't even solve the problems they were meant to solve. They need to go.
/essay
And that right there illustrates the problem. The mechanics were not fully tested before they were implemented, and the devs didn't listen to the feedback they did get from the little bit of testing that was done. It should have been a big clue that the people who were the supposed target of the changes didn't even bother to come out and test it. They figured they knew better and it was going in regardless of what the player base had to say on the matter. -
Quote:People that choose that path are exactly the reason a majority of the playerbase refuse to give pvp a genuine try.
Please keep your epeen out of this thread, you make us all look bad and perpetuate the biggest deterrent from pvp that this game has.
Be respectful.
PvP is, by it's very nature, aggressive. People do not avoid PvP because of aggresive players. They avoid PvP because they do not like aggression in general. Do not confuse causality with commonality. -
Quote:The "official" list is:
1. Reed Richards
2. Dr. Doom
3. Hank Pym
4. Bruce Banner
5. Tony Stark
6. T'Challa
7. Amadeus Cho
8. Hank McCoy
T'Challa is the one I always forget about. He needs a bigger role in the Marvel U. I'm not too sure about Banner. Yes, nobody can argue he is intelligent, but what has he done with it aside from one notable creation. And frankly, it wasn't even that special a creation aside from the side effect of creating his alter ego. I haven't really given too much attention to Hulk so I admit I may have missed something. I would move him to the bottom of the list. -
Quote:I remember when cagers were viable. Absolutely hilarious watching the Emps rage uselessly while they sit and watch their Blasters die to spikes. That's only because in the screwed up current meta no one builds for team tactics. Killing or harassing support is what SHOULD be a big part of the tactics and honestly anyone who thinks you can't spike out an emp/thermal/whatever without the I13 changes is dead wrong though it does (and SHOULD) take a coordinated spike OR some kind of control/interrupt.
Fun times. -

Quote:For all of the people who for some reason think removing TS hurts melee toons: No. Unless you just throw on auto-follow and target an attack on someone, then wait til it goes off... then again, that's what like 99% of players do.
As someone who played a melee character against test players/teams more than anyone else still playing, I can say without a doubt that melee was infinitely more effective pre-travel-suppression.
I'm not saying it was balanced, but it was still way better.
1000% agreed. TS hurts melee just as much, if not more, than ranged.
It might be interesting to see TS only applied in certain very specific situations, such as the target of a successful melee attack. It might prove to be too abusive in that limited context however, so probably better to just get rid of it all together.
I can almost see a thematic (pssht RP) reason for TS, but HD makes absolutely no sense in any way. It's a bandaid mechanic designed to fix a problem that never really existed and the game as a whole is worse off for having it. -
Quote:I agree with you about the visual potential, but add me to the list of people who've never found him compelling as a character. You've got a guy who can not only change his size but also... control bugs. Sure, those are two more superpowers than I'll ever have, but it's hard to even type "control bugs" and keep a straight face. The combo and his past portrayals in comics just don't do anything for me.
Hank Pyms greatest superpower has always been his intelligence. In the Marvel world he is considered to be one of the top 5 most intelligent people alive. -
What part isn't working? I have used it and have had it used against me in PvP, and I haven't noticed a problem with it not working from either side.
