They've claimed that would be our response if they were to release items too quickly.

Quote:Well, unless it's "speaking too soon syndrome" happening here, they do a weekly ahead of time announcement for all the sets now. Since double xp will be next weekend, and there hasn't been any word yet, looks like a big negativo there. Which is weird, since I would expect at least one new set to tie in with it. Maybe there's something there I'm missing though. Potential to info overload the consumer is the only thing that comes to mind, but that kind of sounds silly.Sorry.. but at least 1 of them should be released before Double XP... if neither are then it's another marketting flop in my book. Double XP + new sets would mean more people returning... but we've seen over and over Marketing seems to NOT want to make as much money for the game as possible.

It'd be nice if Widows could have literally any claws options, considering Soldiers at least get a handful of rifle choices.
Other than that, some pulse rifle to beam rifle choices would be nice, along with a few of the mace options being made available to the Mace Mastery PPP, and vice versa. -

Well, there is one that juuuuust barely blasted its head out into the open. Despite what I or most people would assume, it didn't really have much kick to it. I assume acquiring that particular information is something of an art, though.

Surprised how similar the two were on both sides. I'm prefering the villain story over the hero one by quite a bit so far. Redside you feel like you're actually amassing a force, and the reactions of other people are satisfying and play to you being an established villain and a considerable threat. Heroside doesn't feel nearly as genuine. Positron seems like a wuss when he sends your off to fight for him, or an incompetent idiot when he gets his butt handed to him and needs to be rescued like in the previous episode. Neither presentation really feels satisfying or fun to interact with. The "mirror" character redside, Lastri, doesn't have superpowers, so it at least makes sense when you're the one going off to solve problems.
And Penny Yin is just... eh. I'd feel better about the character if she wasn't elevated to annoying godling status purely to replace Psyche.
In general though, liking them so far. I'm interested to see where it goes - the Prometheus and Silos involvement almost tripped a few "abort abort oh god abort" alarms for me, but it wasn't anywhere as awful as I expected. -
Broad response, but I think I'd like to know more about the world outside of Paragon and the Isles. Is New York City as much as a crime hotspot as it's made out to be in most other superhero universes? Have certain cities been wiped out/rebuilt? Where else did the Rikti invade, was their major damage, and so on. As much as I appreciate the localized story in CoH, I'd like to do a bit of globetrotting for a change of pace, see how the rest of the world behaves on an Earth populated with extraordinarily powerful individuals all over the place.

Well, kudos for at least giving at a good try for last week. I know it wasn't the ideal solution on your end, but still, good on you guys for sticking it out and going the extra mile for that one. The image solution isn't the greatest though, but it's certainly an improvement over 1 per tweet. Here's hoping you get the promocode business sorted soon.
For consideration though, at least when you required people to retweet the message it ensured they were following you, and it gave a free CoH advertisement to all of their followers as well. Now, following isn't even really a requirement. -
No real reason came up, someone just asked if EAT power customization was coming, and it was a "not in the near future" or "we're not looking into doing that" answer, something along those lines.

Quote:1. Just one.
- How many characters have you fully incarnated?
- How many characters have you incarnated?
- How many characters have you rolled with the intention of making them Full Incarnates?
- Do you have any characters that you, for whatever reason, are not going to make Incarnates?
2. Two.
3. When I create them, I eventually intend for all of them to be fully incarnated. How many I get around to doing that with in practice is another topic.
4. Nope, not due to any particular restraint other than lack of time or interest in the given character. -
Depends if it's a per character type solution or an account wide feature unlock. Honestly, I don't know how much I'd use it either way, considering I kind of like leveling a new character, and it's not particularly difficult. Only reason I wouldn't want to is due to limited time badges, and I'd much sooner pay for something (even though it'd be better if it was free) that made most time gated badges retroactively account wide.

Certainly nothing batty happening this week, that's for sure.

And here I thought this was gonna be a "better names for the free to play conversion" thread. I'd still like to nominate "City of Heroes: Woofers Edition" at any rate.

Quote:I wasn't necessarily referring to expanding on the current system, but more what you suggested - putting effort into making a new one that solves the problems of the old system. It's admittedly really easy to just sit back and say, "well just do it over! And let the old ones be there too! And add this, and do this!" But I think the potential revenue from a new, less "jenga on fire" base system would pay for itself over time. Preferably it could exist with the old bases in-tact, but I personally wouldn't be too upset if they had to get trashed in order to make way for a system that was magnitudes more awesome. As the devs have said many times, the main reason why the base system doesn't get more attention is simple -- the code is a tangled and uncommented spaghetti mess and anything they do to change it has a very high chance of breaking the entire thing. Remember how we got the new Hacked Teleporter base item a couple issues ago? It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were named that precisely because making a teleporter attach to 6 beacons instead of 2 was a dirty, inelegant hack because it was the only way it could be done. So consider yourself smartfounded.
As for bases, other people have said this, I think the current system should be left in place as a legacy system (obviously, way too many awesome bases to just invalidate them) and make a new one that can exist side by side with an old-style base. I like a lot of what SuperOz suggested, and I agree that with the tech the devs have to work with today, it shouldn't [Standard Code Rant] add a prohibitive amount of additional strain, especially when you take PvP constraints out of the picture.
The PvP parts, well... it was a really cool idea they showed in the CG trailer, at least. While it lasted in beta, all I remember were people building the worst, most incomprehensible impossible to navigate hallways of doom. That and with the current, uh, "state" of PS as a whole, well, I suppose I shouldn't hold my breath for cool new PvP stuff anyway. -
Quote:Pretty much this. I believe the devs are hesitant to even begin touching on the possibility of creating a more efficient system for bases or personal housing due to extreme player investment. Super groups and bases are rather iconic to the setting, and social play is a huge (if not the largest) part of what keeps people in MMOs, so I'm considerably dumbfounded that more effort hasn't been put into expanding the perks that come with being in a group, and just a general exploration of the base system. Housing is a space that few games explore as well, but with such an emphasis on customization I'm also pretty surprised that more effort hasn't been put into it here too.I personally think it's a viable alternative seeing as all avenues regarding actual bases have been explored. They can't be fixed, they won't be fixed. We all know that as a bottom line now. It's how much commitment on both developer and player sides there'll be to exploring alternatives.
In the same way that issue 24 seems to be a "fix stuff" issue, I'd be perfectly fine if some future issue was devoted to revamp bases, add stuff for super groups, perhaps explore individual housing, and so on. -
I wonder if Soldiers and Widows will get updated to get whatever new toys Leadership ends up with. PBs and Shades got the new TP and Flight powers, right?

As the idiot who kept making the repeat suggestion for Captain Mako Week during the weekly livestreams, I just wanted to say you guys have outdone yourselves with this one. Hats off to Fabbie for his work on it, and much love to whoever managed to take this from a half-joking suggestion to an actual event.
-
I imagine issue 24 will be a bit more of a pool party than what we've seen so far. I wouldn't discount that post quite yet, fwiw.

At the very least, there wasn't a perpetual shortage of those.
I would at least appreciate a lack of this bullheaded approach when it comes to acknowleding community feedback. It's one thing to say, "hey, we hear you," and a whole separate beast to actually act on feedback. There's a real depressing reality that unless enough people stamp their feet and make enough noise to the point where it makes the people with legitimate qualms or criticisms about an issue feel embarrassed (since it makes them out to look like whiny children who need to be pacified), things just don't really see change with marketing type issues. -
Yep, not a fan either.
When you can explain to me the appeal of participating in a lottery with 5,000 other people to get something that's going to be taken within half a second of you posting it, and they claim it because they have faster hands, faster internet, people helping them, etc., you'll convince me to participate.
But I'm sure it'll be considered a rousing success and the trend will continue despite protest otherwise, with the shining feedback of "awesome thanks!" heard from people who were lucky enough to win blotting out any and all legitimate criticisms here, all while you decide against offering this in any other non-teeth gnashing manner.
Woo.
edit: aaaand called it. -
I'd say the opposite, considering pools are usable by any given character (HEATs and their limitations being an exception). I imagine that's why they've prolonged changing them for so long.
-
I'm more interested in the idea that they might be breaking the rule more often now. Sure, challenge was kinda crappy to begin with and I'm sure they had evidence to believe that it wouldn't impact that many active characters, but it's still interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing some more broad changes done to Stone, or maybe some of the AOE gimped Stalker primaries.
