Quote:See, this parallels my own experience. Like your ex, I never picked up any of those twitch two-button mad skillz. But keyboard controls were not tough at all.My mistake. I should have taught her how to play COH instead of Mario.
My thinking was the 2 button controller would be easier to pick up than the WASD system. Since she was raised typing on a keyboard though it was far easier for her to pick up on. Not to mention the lack of timing that was needed.
Oh well, live and learn. -
I'm almost jealous, PK.
But not really - you deserve this happiness. -
<stunned silence>
They keep getting better. I will also thank those who helped you bring this one to us - GJ, Michelle & friends. -

Quote:But I currently can just click a power to use any of my Energy Blast attacks, with the KB - which I want, especially solo. Adding anything longer than a "click" adds to the amount of time my attacks take to go off - which could result in a faceplant. I play using my mouse to click power icons (I know, someone is bound to come into the thread to tell me how woefully inefficient that is) and having to "hold power key pressed down for another effect" sounds awful.I couldn't come up with a better name for it than "charge-up". What I really meant was: "click power key for one effect, hold power key pressed down for another effect". The time you hold the power key down could affect some powers, or be irrelevant in other cases. A "click" could be defined as a very short time, a "hold" could be defined as anything longer than that. I certainly didn't mean that we should import some of the less aesthetically pleasing things like the charge-up bar that appears when you use some powers. I wouldn't want to see that thing in CoX and it would be unnecessary.
Although others are correct that it may not make sense "logically", I'm also with Sailboat to a certain extent - I don't like someone else's idea of the more "desirable" attack taking less time than the one that I prefer - KB and all.
I don't think I would like to see this mechanic added. -
To get Patch Notes, I usually just click the Red (?) Link called "Patch Notes" at the top of the loader while the patch downloads.
It takes me to the same place LL linked to. It's the easiest place for me to remember, although I do know about all the other places folks have mentioned in this thread so far. -
Totally agree.
It seems like a new trolling game has arisen around here - post something that would be deleted in a heartbeat during the week, just because you can do that with no weekend mods. -
Quote:This caught my eye as I was scanning the forums -OK silly vet question. How do I claim vet rewards?
I got the 18th month badge this month and according to wikia I should have gotten sands/axe and the sprints by now?
DO NOT use Wikia! The site is not maintained ans is a hive of malware and RMT sellers.
Always depend on Paragonwiki instead. -

Quote:So slot up your Knockback. There are already several powersets that throw thugs around.I realize this engine will never be upgraded no matter hold long this game has been running. that's why I say make a power that traps the enemy and then slams them into the ground. It just doesn't feel superheroic if I can't throw thugs around like in the comics.

Quote:This poster must be psychic - clearly he has insight into not only the developer's appetite for new challenges, but more importantly, the "level of excitement" in the entire playerbase in support of the addition of vehicles to this game.I have heard that the developers have seen so much fervour from the players about vehicles that they are definitely considering it, despite the extreme technical difficulties. They are delaying for that reason, but it is expected. The level of excitement by the fan base is pretty high about this topic, which is a good sign; since NCSOFT does seem to listen to its fan base. I think the technical challenges might only whet their programmers' appetites, cause they like to show off. I must admit I don't expect vehicles to be introduced with issue 19 or anything, but I suspect in the coming years it is inevitable now. The real question is how will it work for the players, and what vehicles have the most popularity so they are certain to be included. This thread was about new travel powers, so I thought a discussion of what might be under consideration had to include this exciting possibility. The more it's discussed, the more the developers will be listening. Will we actually see any new travel powers? Time will tell. But it can be fun to speculate on what we MIGHT see.
For myself, I really don't see the need to add vehicles. They don't work in many parts of most of our zones - can you see driving a car in the crappy areas of Mercy Island near the starting point of the game, or in most of Nerva Archipelago or Talos Island, let alon in the Shadow Shard or Cimerora?
As for the idea of the vehicles just not working in those areas - so those who want to add them would then either need to select a second travel power to navigate the non-roadway zones? That sounds like something else for people to whine about here.
Honestly, did you even read what Forbin posted? -
You will get much better answers up in the Tech Forums above this - this forum is really more about "how do I get a cape?".
The very techy folks hang out in the Tech forums. -
I asked Ironblade "pretty please get my SG healing badge for my SG" and three (?) days later I had my Auto-Doc.
I therefore believe that Ironblade is the foremost forum expert on the topic.
Thanks again, IB! -
How was that "Talking smack"?
It sounded like a pretty realistic discussion of game design, based on past experiences. With pretty much truthful statements of number of subs gained/retained.
Jack has talked smack on other occasions, but I really don't see much in this particular quote to get your panties in a bunch over. -
Quote:Tell me, OP - how do *you* think these players from outside the US got access to the game? You appear to be implying something other than a purchase by them.I noticed over the weekend, that a lot of the users on US servers are playing from other regions. All weekend long I kept meeting EU players who claimed they "bought" the US editions. I know this has to have an effect.
I can assure you that we have players from all over the globe (EU, including the UK and Bulgaria, Oceania, including Australia & NZ), all of whom purchased the game, who do not adversely affect the game's performance any more than those from Atlanta, GA, or Cambridge, MA. -
I haven't seen them "in service" much - as others have said, a lot of their primary services have been superseded by the Safeguard Raptor Packs.
But there are still a few who run in a regular Saturday TF/SF group on Infinity. I think most of those still active playing are on Infinity. Belle joins us on those from time-to-time. -
Quote:Is that a trick question? Are you proposing the existence of people who AREN'T?
*Boggle*
Oh, OK, I give up - trying that hurt my brain. -

They come from the Wedding Pack booster. They are the "Excess Plus" pieces.

60ish characters, once the GR experiments settle out.
Probably a dozen or so use second builds, mainly for solo vs. team builds on Defenders and my main villain (a fire/therm corr).
I don't need a second freespec for any of them, thanks. -
Quote:^^^1: stamina is not required. no need to change anything here.
2: travel powers are not required. no need to change anything here.
3: the market fees are there to discourage listing, pulling, listing, pulling, listing, pulling, listing, pulling....
4: the inf cap is a technical limitation. in fact if they maxed it out it would only add on another 200k. give or take a few 10k.
This.
Three of the things the things OP is suggesting be "fixed" are in the game for balance reasons.
The last one is a technical limitation that will not be fixed short of changing the way database limitations work within this game.
Also, OP, search is your friend - these all have been discussed many, many times before and GR hasn't changed the reasons they exist in the game. -
I can't say that I have seen any of what you describe here on the forums - which ones? That seems a bit odd.
I haven't played enough recently to have any observation in-game. -
At the grocery store. Picking up 12-packs of soft drinks (5 for $10, name brand, good deal).
I would hate to lose them, but I think I saved in time. -
Sheesh, a hard maths question.
I summon Arcanaville!
OP, you may want to pm Arcanaville, who is consider the queen of math here on the forum. If she doesn't have the direct answer, she can certainly check you process.
