Taxi bot

I remember a time when there used to be taxi bots all over paragon. I dont need one and I'm not going to be one but I was wondering if anyone still played taxi bot?

They would be quite rare.
The Hollows were a big draw for them, as lowbies without travel powers would get missions on the far side of the map deep into purple-con territory, and if killed, would have to huff it back from the AP hospital. Between the Hollows revamp (field hospital and a reworking of the mission doors, IIRC), Safeguard Temp Travel Powers and SG Bases finally becoming functional, I think the time where they were needed is mostly passed.
I'll bet that some are still around as cherished L50's, probably offering Exploration Badge tours every now and then.

Yeah, I remember being lost in Perez and unable to get out, even by dying (L36 or something) and being rescued by PCS&R. With ouro, SG bases, wentporters etc. that could never happen.

I saw Taxibot Belle in Atlas when Going Rogue opened. She's still out there, still helping!
Edit: Paragon City Search and Rescue is a different organization from the Taxibots. They're both very helpful organizations, though.

I don't hit the Hollows much these days, but when I do, it always feels like something is missing when I don't see broadcasts for a taxi bot. Ah, the old days...

Might be a good starting point for a thread for things like that in the game that have pretty much vanished.

Not exactly a Taxi service, the Mentor Project serves nearly all servers (all NA and Defiant in EU last time I checked,) and if new players are having difficulties finding their way around I'm sure any available Mentor would be willing to help.

Even if you are not enrolled in the Mentor Project, please direct new players with questions there as will as the "N P C" global channel.

I always thought the taxi bots were cool. Even used one a couple times. Nowadays I think I'm asking to borrow someone's oro portal more than a tp somewhere.

I haven't seen them "in service" much - as others have said, a lot of their primary services have been superseded by the Safeguard Raptor Packs.

But there are still a few who run in a regular Saturday TF/SF group on Infinity. I think most of those still active playing are on Infinity. Belle joins us on those from time-to-time.

I miss a lot of the old groups. The taxis were great. I also remember, the actual name eludes me, something like the Paragon Police Department. The would fly around and just buff/heal lowbies/newbies who has gotten in over their heads but would deal no damage so they didn't XP steal. They had a huge website at one point.

PCSAR is still serving the community at large! As most have pointed out our services aren't as needed in the current game, with the temp travel powers and ouros etc. The revamp to the Hollows, while bringing players back to it, also meant it now had a hospital. Which removed the need for rezzing.

Currently, I've been patrolling Nova Praetoria offering heals and buffs as needed. It's been wonderful getting reactions from the new blood.

Taxibots are around as well. Just not as visible.
