Well since this board is a bit dated I imagine it's going to be my last one of this type. I'm not expecting to take much out of this this rig for the new one other than the gfx card and the psu.
Thanks for all the tips!! -
I had my budget numbers backwards $250-$500.
How much memory does 1 instance take up? I like to run multiple instances on 1 desktop. I know it takes a performance hit with more instances but I like being my own team sometimes. -
Oh I forgot my budget! lol I figure I'll have $500-$250 to work with. I know it's not much but it's all I'll have.
-
I don't know what kind of case I have but I'd have to say it's the standard size tower for a desktop. I don't see a problem fitting most video cards in it except for maybe the really big ones, chances are I wont be able to afford the huge cards.
Just for reduncancy I'd like to upgrade my gfx and my psu. Here's the specs for my rig.
Athlon 64 x2 4200 cpu
TA785GE 128M motherboard
G.Skill ram 2 sticks 2G each not sure on the frequency
Full size generic case
Generic PSU 430W
HP pavilion vf17 monitor
That's about it for what's in my rig. If I forgot anything just let me know and I'll get it posted ASAP.
Thanks for your help. -

And Father Time is right on what I was getting at. I will give up that fruitless belief then after that explanation.
-
I got this board as a stop gap measure, my old system had fried and I had an AGP gfx card in it. There's not many AGP capable motherboards out there so I decided that my next one would have PCIe.
At the time I didn't have enough $ to get a new mobo, cpu and gfx card. I found the biostar board in one of the local hole in the wall PC shops nearby. Seeing that it had integrated video I figured what the hell, if it can't handle COH then I'll have to suck it up for a bit and get a cheapo gfx card.
I got home and got it all together, fired up a fresh copy of XP and was just dumbfounded that I could run COH in quality mode on the 3rd slider setting!! I could even run it in max quality but with a severe hit to FPS.
I get by ok on regular teams on recomended setting. This rig will even have 5 instances open on it. It turns into a slide show frequently but is doable. -
This board will blow your socks off Hyper, it supports AM2 and AM3 sockets. I have a spec sheet from biostar that I would like to present as exhibit A.
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/...t.php?S_ID=455
There on page 5 is the only place I've seen that says it supports ddr3 but it'll only support it if you've got an AM3 chip in there.
I'm still working on the rest of what you asked. It'll take me a day to compose that post.
Lemme know what you think of my board. I was impressed when I got it home. -
My ram is ddr2 but this board is capable of using ddr3 but that's depending on what cpu is in there. My ram is G.Skill, is that good enough?
I'm running Win7x64. -
So I plan on getting some new parts for my desktop to help spruce it up a bit to handle some more recent games decently. I plan on keeping my motherboard, cpu and ram the same but I need a gfx card and I figured on getting a new psu also. My current psu is a generic 430W. My mother board is a TA785GE 128M.
I've been running this game with the onboard gfx this mobo comes with. I can run it in quality mode and with the slidder on recomended with minimal issues, untill a trial or ship raid or other large gathering. It's time to finally get a gfx card for this rig. I do manage to run multiple instances on this rig but that's only on minimum gfx.
What kind of gfx card should I get that will play ultra mode, I'm not looking to run all the bells and whistles. How big of a psu should I be looking for? I have 4Gigs of ram should I get another 2gig stick or 2 more?
If you need to know the specs I can post a cpu z readout.
Thanks all. -
Well maybe the RNG just doesn't like me right now or something.
-
Well the end result doesn't have to steal the drops from the players that don't have IO access. It would instead not give them a chance for a recipe drop. That in turn would make it so that those that do have IO access would get more chances of getting a drop when teamed with those that don't.
-
It's too bad the devs didn't make some sort of thing that would not give them the chance for the drop if they don't have access.
-
Has anyone else noticed that when teaming with free players that don't have recipe access your recipe drops seem very limited?
I've run the demon farm to PL a couple secondary acct recently and I've noticed that when running the farm solo to go for purples I get a normal drop rate. When I get the other accts fired up and logged in my drop rate is severely diminished, like by 75%.
Am I the only one seeing this? -
Has everyone forgotten that they recently replaced the HARDWARE for all the live servers?
I imagine they're still working out some bugs in the new tech.
I've been having the same issues as the other ppl in this thread and after remembering about, what was it last week, the hardware upgrade that's what I'm chalking it up to. -
So after doing a little testing on the training dummies I found out a couple neat things. I used my 50 plant/fire dom for testing purposes.
Seeds of confusion generates dom.
Vines generates dom.
All the vet attacks I have generate dom, and I do have all of them except the ghost slaying ax that's about worthless IMO.
Fireball from the fire epic generates dom.
Rain of fire DOES NOT generate dom. Not sure if that's WAI or not. My guess is since it's a pseudopet it won't because it's the pet doing damage not me.
I don't have any craft-able temps to test this out with but that will be my next test.
That's all I have for now. -
Ok so lets try to narrow things down on this topic then.
We already know primary and secondary powers, most of them, generate domination. Brawl does as well.
Does anyone know any other powers that build dom? -
What powers qualify to build domination? I know damaging attacks from primary and secondary do it and brawl but do the epics build domination also?
I'm asking because I have the fire epic but I'm not seeing my domination bar fill when I use ANY of the attacks in the fire epic. -
Your 1st toons must be playing themselves now! lol
-
I sent in a support ticket to NCSoft and they have in turn sent it to the COH people.
*fingers crossed* hopefully I'll get to see the shiny soon and help flush out any bugs. The first closed beta I got in on was for the Issue when they turned the MM upgrades into AoE's. I was testing my nin/pain MM and discovered the upgrade icons weren't sticking, the power wasn't sticking I believe. Yeah I know whoopty doo I found some obscure bug but it made me feel like I helped make the game better. -
Well I'm still being denied access. I'm pretty sure it's because I don't let my credit card sit on my account for more than 10 minutes anymore. I'm a little disappointed about this. I've been a faithfull and loyal customer since I4 but I guess that doesn't mean I've subscribed to this game.
-
All I'd like to do is change my resolution so I can check out the shiny while I play live.
-
I seem to be stuck in this same boat. I resubed last week but I always take my card back off the account so I don't forget it's on auto and have to get it refunded if need be. I have a feeling that could be why I am not able to get in.
-
Quote:ROFLMAO That pic of Kojak just cracked me up!I come bearing tidings of good news:
For the purposes of the VIP Beta (and the VIP Beta only, so no, you can't keep them when we go live), we will be seeding all currently active accounts with 10,000 Paragon Points, so you can spend to your hearts desire in the Paragon Market.
This will be live when Beta comes up tonight (fingers crossed, knock on wood, spin around in a circle and spit over your left shoulder).
