Quote:Myeah, fair point.Revamp Calvin Scott? Now that is what I would quite honestly call a waste of resources.
They do look different.
And how do they look different? They really don't. I've fought the, pardon the pun, damn things enough to know they are the exact same models, albeit with cheaty powers.
And yes, I do mean cheaty. The Hellions and Skull run as thus;
Minions: Run of the mill, suitable for levels 1-5
LTs: Single attack, higher damage, still suitable for 1-5
Bosses: Lol pwn u n00b. LOTS of attacks, all with high damage, fire and neg energy damage and DoT/other effects. A very steep upswing in the 'hard' factor for 1-5. -
I build my arcs for story.
Im also dissapointed that they are buried behind a wall of one 5-star rating arcs that are, frankly, utter dross.

Quote:"Fine speech for a hypocrite," Vix snapped at the hologram. "Blowing holes in walls with robots, thats very helpful to contributing to the general evacuation. And what's more helpful; trying to organise chaos, or trying to stop the source of it? So, unless you've got something useful to say, I've got what looks like a case of trauma to deal with..."Well then off you go, try not to let Mollys death threats get you down. Mister Rogers smiled his familiar smile She probably wont try and kill you, not after I leak this fight to the media and webhost it, even shes not dumb enough to kill someone, after saying shell do so.
The force field dropped, at least it did from Chimera, the multiple bodies of Giant Killer, were still encased in their protection bubbles. The assault bot stood with its arm held forward, devices humming as it kept its most powerful attack charged, just in case.
I will be writing to the F.B.S.A with a report of the goings on here, firstly a flamethrower? Are you mental, youre firing off such a device when civilians are present? What type of tard are you?. Then weve got the so called hero who deliberately aimed for a killing blow, on a sentient life form, you dont hit something in the temple, if youre intending on bringing it in alive. Of course the general failure of everyone who just rushed the beast, come on people its hero 101, you evacuate the civilians before you even attempt to fight the villain... sheesh, its people like you guys who make for ten issue angst fests while the hero whines about his mistakes. Mister Rogers lectured through loud speaker. -

I hate this so damn much. The ammount of times I've had to ask for an invite back to a private channel due to deleting it from my tabs due to spaztastic right mouse button is rediculous. Glad Im not the only one bugged by this. -

Frankly, the whole melee versus range arguement only holds any water at all if the Enemy isnt trying to get within melee range. Which, if they have melee attacks, they invariably do. Just to pick Council/5th, they do a LOT of damage at range, and those that have less ranged attacks, the wolves, will, without fail, head into melee. Due to being nigh un-lockdownable, they tend to make it, too.
'But you'll be at range' is only ever true if you use hover/fly. And, even then, Sky Raiders? Longbow? Goldbrickers? Not to mention ranged -fly abilities. -
Quote:The Chief stepped in front of Molly, moving to block Julia whichever way she went to go."Huh?" Molly glanced behind her to see what the Chief was on about when she caught sight of Julia on the approach. Her eyes were fixed on The Pink One as she attempted to storm past the scene on the stage, either oblivious to everything that went on or ignorant. It was hard to tell. "Julia! Oh my gosh, are you okay?"
"...Monster..." Julia simply uttered as she continued her approach.
"...Julia?" Molly asked again. Something wasn't right. She looked around quickly. Who was the monster she was talking abou- "Oh. Aw nuts. Stop her! Don't hurt her, just stop her!"
"Miss, please...calm down," he urged quietly. "No ones going to hurt you..."
"She...wants to k-kill Molly...though," Vix managed, pulling herself upright and staggering back towards them. Fox once more zipped to her side, supporting her with one arm and helping her towards Julia. "Why, I don't know but...but it's practically c-consumed her."
The Chief glanced from one to the other, before moving to scoop Julia up in his massive arms, something that would certainly stop her from going anywhere... -
She's gonna get fielded anyway, so it's not a huge obstacle =]

Quote:I do agree with this ^I agree up to a point. I believe low-level content needs a "re-write" in the sense of technical upgrades. Mission structure, mission objectives, mission locations, briefing quality (both in terms of narrative and proofreading) are all badly lacking and in need of some TLC. I don't believe low-level content needs a "re-write" in the sense of changing or updating the storyline. The actual stories are great as they are, and I'd be really sad to see them go. The stories are good. They're just delivered poorly.

Srs sggstin IS srs?!
Is that even legal?
Still..it...it actually sounds quite good. A bit daft, maybe. But interesting XD -
Im assuming that CD didn't want her locked down, and so simply took the gun off her. At least thats how I read it. *shrug*

Quote:Vix pushed herself off of Fox, staggering and then running past the two Stiletto members, headed straight for where Masha was, along with the strange reptile and the Julia. The brief pause, along with the commotion, had given her time to catch her breath and to spot the source of the pain.
Masha laid face-down on the floor. The shock of seeing Julia pull a gun on her and open fire did more to keep her frozen than the open flesh wound below her right ear - thank goodness she heard Julia's mutterings in time to look behind her, ruining the girl's chance of a lethal headshot.
Fear and the horrific realisation that the shy girl in the canteen, the one who consider Masha her closest friend, tried to kill her did more to make her breathing almost impossible than the non-fatal but otherwise still nasty-looking wound that girl just dealt her.
"No more monster..." Julia quietly chimed. Despite losing her gun to the strange reptile's field, she seemed to be under the impression that Masha was on Death's door. Assuming she had gotten what she wanted from the Russian, she simply proceeded to skip past the reptile.
One monster down, another five to go. Find something to kill them with.
"Move!"
It wasn't so much a word as a spoken and mental order to the reptile, the doctors eyes already glowing as she skidded onto her knees beside Masha. She cradled the fallen woman carefully, hissing between her teeth as she inspected the wound.
"This is gonna take a bit..." she muttered, before resting her fingertips gently on the skin.
The wound began to knit and mend instantly, skin and bone repairing as if in fast-motion, blood multiplying to restore that which was lost. Eventually, it was as if the wound had never been there.
Vix slowly slumped onto her back, breathing as if she had just run a marathon, clutching at her arms like they had just been put through a blender. In the upside down view she had, she spotted Julia, making her way towards the stage. She could feel the fury there, the driving urge, no, need to kill.
"Chief!" she managed to shout, or at least croak loudly.
Fortunately the Kaarinian Hero had sensetive audio receptors, turning to first Vix then, when she gestured weakly, Julia.
"Friend of yours?" he asked Molly as he strode past her, en route to intercept the glassy eyed young woman approaching them. -
Drones, for me, always flew to whatever handy ledge, corner or just damn open sky, and ping me from range, with the equivelant of robotic laughter.
If they are now attempting to melee you with, I dunno, their stabilisers or something, I think something is very borked. -
Quote:Yes. And it STILL doesnt make any damn sense.Yeah, it's almost like they've spent the better part of the last decade or two being forced to interact with humans. Humans who they might find strangely familiar. That's all I'll say without a big SPOILER tag, though honestly anybody who doesn't know what I'm talking about at this point... meh.

In short, my impression was very different from yours, in that I saw it as the Rikti actively trying to sound more human, in their interactions with humans. I didn't really notice them talking to one another.
The Lineage of War shouldnt WANT to be human. They are 'superior' to the lowly Earth scum, and will conquer them without mercy. Why the heck would they want to bring themself down to that level?
The Traditionalists, what little you see of them, I guess makes a tiny bit more sense, in that they want to ease out the relationship with humanity, but even so, bad humour is not the way to do it. Thats just bad writing. -

Quote:Perfect time to give it the Posi treatment then?I've always found it a bit ironic that people clamor to have the Calvin Scott TF put back in via Ouroboros. While I'd never say no to adding more content to the game, the Scott TF is in fact an example of those older, unpolished, and largely dull arcs. Literally the only thing special about it was that it was temporary, and it's likely it was designed to be unremarkable due to that.
In general though, I pretty much agree with Sam. The timeline aint perfect, and there are lots of glaring errors that we were told would be fixed but never were ("2nd Rikti Invasion" arc), but hey - it's a comic book MMO. Timeline confusion is par for the course, I'd say.
People (Sweeping generalisation, not aimed at anyone) seem incapable of grasping that Updated content is new content, by dint of it being polished, changed and having all the shoddy bits cut off. It wont play like the old junk anymore.
As for the gangs, more variation would be great. Hellions and Skulls always puzzle the heck out of me; the Deaths Heads and Fallen are meant to be partly into the death/fire magic zone...and yet all they get is machine guns and shotguns. Its...a little lame? Really? They dont even LOOK any different from the Boss models. I know you outlevel them kinda fast, but people tend to level really fast in part because the lower levels are just that; dull. -
Quote:Ah, the failure of humour, againNo, Soldiers of Arachnos. This is the generic term for ALL arachnos troops. Widows, and spiders.

But, meh. By the definition usually used, I would equate 'Tankmage' to 'OP'.
A character slotted to the gills with IOs and purples is, for me anyhow, the exception, because such characters are not the norm. Its a char that is a 'Tankmage' right out of the box that is OP to me. Which none of the CityOf AT/Sets are. -
Quote:"Enough," The Chief snapped, stepping up to Dave and looking down at him, something hard to avoid while being around eight foot tall. "Two wrongs do not make a right. While it it is true that peoples indifference only leads to greater problems, that does not excuse your actions here today. Whoever was the father, more carnage will not bring him back. It will only lead to more children without parents, more without brothers and sisters... And that cycle never ends."The Forcefield kept Chimera penned in and the heroes thankfully away from her.
"We need the forcefield lowered if we're to use her Arachnos medical teleporter...don't worry we are under instructions to leave for Mechano himself...despite what you think he isn't a cruel and callous man...he's a compassionate and brave one...pushing the boundaries of science...and Paragon city has proven that it's just not ready for it yet..."
David raised a hand to halt Steve, "We're leaving Executive Steve...we clear for teleportation as soon as this forcefield lowers..."
The armed scientists had lowered their weapons.
"You've proven yourself admirable today heroes...Chimmey only wanted to kill the people that killed her father...no wonder your justice system doesn't work..."
They waited for the forcefield to lower.
David glared at the one who had been shouting obscenties and throwing shoes, "Ever stop and think about what these people say, first it's the metas but you wouldn't speak up for them, then it'll be the scientist but you wouldn't speak up for them either, eventually it'll be you...and nobody will be there to speak up for you..."
He glanced around briefly, before looking back at Dave.
"Yes, the system of Justice may not always functions as perhaps humanity would wish it to. But, while it may not be perfect, it is the ideal behind it that matters. While there are those who say 'kill the criminals', it is those who show compasion who spare them. While there are times when there is no other option, and for the greater good lives have to be taken to prevent greater suffering, death creates nothing. It only destroys. And the ideal of the system is to save. That is something worth fighting for."
The Chief took a step back, still keeping a cautious watch on the hulking, glowing form of Steve.
Vix, meanwhile, had recovered somewhat, but was still leaning against Fox for support. She looked about, trying, despite the unpleasant sensation, to pin down where the shock of death had come from...around a door leading outside...
"I thought you were used to that sorta thing?" Fox asked quietly.
"I am...when I'm ready for it, like in the Warzone," she replied, not looking at him, "Not when im somewhere like here..."
Seomthing was wrong. She could sense it. But the sharp twinge that the unexpected deaths had left was making it hard to focus. So she kept looking... -
/Signed. Drives me loopy. Sometimes I click on the trainer and it lasts for a blink of a second, then its gone again. Really irritating.

Quote:Except that wet haddock is more use in PvP than an AR Blaster.Hmm just thought of something that would technically make AR unique... instead of an aim power how about something similar to another old, well used mmorpg power such as 'Paint Target' ? Animation wise, you would fire something similar to a luminiscent paintball at your target, it would also be a good 'anti stealth' power, considering AR is usually teamed with Devices on blaster it would go with the stalker killer idea in PvP which is commonly how devices are used.
Instead of giving +damage boost, it gives a -res on the target instead for the whole team, which would help with single target damage and also give AR more usefulness in teams as well and make them godsends in PvP
Trust me, I've tried, and suffered. -
Quote:Gotta disagree on certain points there, such as the arc where you 'Prevent the Second Rikti War'.I'm sorry, but I disagree with you. In City of Heroes, time passes not with real-world time passage, but with level progression. When you're level 15, Jim Temblor is still just barely coming to grips with his father's fate. When you're level 35, time has past, he's confident in his powers and he's acting as a legitimate hero. That's how time passes. If you zoom back to level 1 on a new character, you zoom back in time back to 2004, back when Vahzilok was still alive, when the Clockwork King hadn't been beaten, when Countess Crey was still a free woman, when the second Rikti invasion hadn't happened yet.
I don't like CHANGE to the game, I like ADDITIONS. Instead of messing with what has been working just fine over the years, I say we add to it. New groups, new missions, new stories, but there's no reason to mess with the old ones. The change of name of the 5th Column to the Council (and that's all it was) was easily the WORST thing to happen to the game's content and lore, bar none. There was NO REASON to outright remove an acting, existing, cool enemy group. You complain about them being the same as the Council now, and with good reason - they're the same god damn group with a different insignia. The change accomplished nothing but pissing a bunch of people off.
I like a time-static world. There's nothing I hate more than old content I enjoyed removed. I could stand to see it tweaked, but only to fix bad writing, NOT to ret-con old stories as suddenly having happened differently. I like a time-static world exactly because nothing in it is ever lost, and so I can relive every moment of it. I like that. Our world is still not COMPLETELY static, as it's level-dynamic, and I feel that's the best stat to hook time to. Level progression is practically the only type of progression that we can control the pace of.
Personally, I'd be greatly disappointed if old stories were swapped out for new ones all of a sudden. Fix crappy arcs, by no means, but don't mess with the actual stories, please.
....Uh...Stop Check please!
Instead of having Ourobourus as JUST a flashback system, why not make the crystal have all the 'alternate timestreams' e.g. the stuff that got taken out. Calvin Scott TF, the arc mentioned above, stuff like that.
Or, better yet, add them to a City/University 'Archive' System. Just use one of the empty buildings in the University campuses, and add a smaller version of an AE portal, along with some terminals.
Heck, we could even get other, non US based content, like the Paragon Universe WW2 D-Day, Brass Monday, stuff like that.
And, hey, it'd still be new content that people keep clamouring for (myself included now, actaully. Although not as much as I would rather they revamp the rusting dross that there is out there...) -
Quote:To be honest, I dont really find the damage 'low' on Kheldians or VEATs. Again, because its balanced. I might not be as fast as a Fire/Fire blaster, but I dont die as much eitherAnd... they get lower damage modifiers too! Yeah, imagine that.

I'd be one of the ones to call foul if an Assault-Ranged/Armour AT was made and it DID have Blaster level damage. It'd be cool, yeah...but way overpowered. Balance is as Balance Does. Etc. -
Oh god, you're right... My eyes must have skipped over that part to save me the horror...
Yes. Pistols for Scrappers is a HORRIBLE idea. No, shush. It is. Its right up there with Shield Offence and Dual Archery Defence.
A new AT which could have Dual Pistols/Super Reflexes as a RANGED set, that is made of awesome. Which is the idea that people are suggesting here.
