Just curious - did it also insult your pride when they changed the level where a character gets XP debt from level 4 to level 10?
Or when they smoothed out the levelling curve to make the 30s and 40s more easily passed through?
Or when they added the inherents? I am going to guess you play scrappers, but perhaps you play blasters (who got Defiance, and then especially Defiance 2.0) and Defenders (who got a change to their inherent to dup their damage when solo or on a very small team)?
Or when they added IOs, which can boost your powers higher than SOs if slotted correctly?
The devs have added many, many things that made the game easier. So if having Patrol XP insults your pride, perhaps you should have started being insulted much, much earlier than now.
I hope that the "insult" is just hyperbole. Otherwise, you are just too thin-skinned and sensitive.
Plus LOL at worrying about "pride" in a game, fer goodness' sakes.
I don't care whether the Devs make a switch to turn Patrol XP off or not. Options are good, so I'm not against it. But I am also firmly in the camp that if it takes development time aways from other stuff I want, then no thanks, it's not a big enough deal to waste time on.
I know your preference in this thread is to not allow people to feel this way about wanting Dev resources spent on stuff besides your pet project/peeve, but there it is. You don't get to mod the thread or restrict what people feel or say. -

What are the level ranges for those two TFs?
I would like to work with Brighid but she is only 43, almost 44. So anything level-gated at 45 would be a no-go.
If the consensus is with something 45+, I could bring Maurya (energy/elec/elec) and I promise not to KB too much.
Of course, we might just go see Harry Potter that afternoon anyway. I throw that in for IB's benefit, since I know he has such a high opinion of HP -
I'm with Bill.
But that being said, as a fellow altitus sufferer, I used this strategy -
I chose a character that I really enjoyed - in my case, my very first character, modelled on a PnP Champions character I really loved from a now defunct campaign. I made it a point to play that character at least every other time I logged on and set myself an interim goal. In the 30s, the goal was to make a level every other time I played her, then in the 40s, it was "x" bubbles of XP per session. I also found a static group (a Saturday afternoon TF group) where I would always play her - great XP there.
Now - not to discourage you - even so, I didn't get her to 50 until I had been playing almost 3 years. Of course, I didn't start my strategy from the beginning - I only played her like this for the last 4-5 months when I decided I wanted to finally get a character up to 50. Another thing that delayed her ascent was that she dated back to before *all* the XP smoothing and reduction of debt. And as a Blaster, she had most of the debt badges by the time she reached 50, since she dated back to the time when XP debt started at level 4 and you could have more than 1 level's worth of debt accumulated.
Basically my advice is to set a few interim goals, find something you find fun (I'm partial to Blasters, but I also have a Scrapper almost there), and then make a personal commitment to have that character on "heavy rotation" so that you play it just a bit more often than the rest of your alts. -
I've never seen that tab in that menu before. I don't know whether I never tried scrolling over that far, but I somewhat remember that the final choice there was Ceiling Trim.
I know that we have been asking for ages to be able to edit the doorways, so I am going to hope that it is something they are adding <crosses fingers>
p.s. I had to go into one of my bases to see what you were talking about - the answers above are from memory. -
Quote:Nope. It's a fixed size - in fact all of the rooms are set, although there are some variations of the same type of room (like 3 different sized workshops).Ok, I have recently begun construction of my Supergroup base. I have a couple minor questions though. I have searched the forums and been unable to find answers, so at the risk of sounding stupid I'll ask.
1: I noticed the base entrance room is a 2 x 2 room.. is it possable to make this bigger somehow? Like a 2 x 3 or 3 x 3 room?
Quote:2: When I try and change the style of my rooms I notice there is only a handful of style options such as sewer, tech, factory... yet in some screenshots I see people with bases that look like caves and office buildings.. How do I get these other style options?
Quote:3: During the style selection I see a catagory for doorways, but when I click on it, it is empty.. Do I need to unlock these somehow?
Quote:4: Is there some way to remove the floor trim panels on the walls so they match my doorways?
Quote:5: Can I change the graphic or effect of my entrance portal?
Quote:Please forgive me if any of these are stupid questions.. I have not come across anything that answers them yet, and no one I've spoken to has been able to tell me. -
It was very profitable for me - I got a Numina's +Regen, +Recov on a random roll.
Thanks to all my teammates! -
I will be there...
Looks like I will bring some damage - either Brighid (fire/ice/elec blaster) or Maurya (energy/elec/elec blaster). -
Quote:Head down to your server's forum and ask what are the best global channels. A good bit of team recruiting happens on the globals, NOT in broadcast.I'm curious about this topic as well. I've only recently returned after having left the game roughly about 4 months after release. I have since got my level 32 dm/regen out of mothballs and now am up to level 38.
I do find, though, that the levelling curve solo seems a bit steep. I am probably doing something wrong, I have no issues with accepting that fact. If I play solo, set at +1/ with bosses, I am finding levelling to be a bit of a grind. I don't stare at the xp circle constantly and just enjoy the game, but it does get a bit disheartening when I can do 4 or 5 door missions in a row fighting reds, yellow, oranges and some purps only to look up and see that I've only progressed about 2 bubbles. After a few hours of play. That would put my per level rate at about 8 hrs plus, solo. That, to me, seems a bit slow.
I do progress faster when in a group, and I have joined an SG, but my server seems fairly low populated so I still end up soloing quite a bit. Is there something that I can do given my AT and power choices and difficulty setting to speed up the levelling a bit?
Open to all suggestions.
thanks
Remember that most of the game is instanced and your requests in broadcast aren't visible to anyone in an instance or another zone. Messages on the global channels are visible in instances and across zones (even across factions). -
Quote:I can agree that using desks was the "original" way to stack and that there are now other ways to do it - but I can't really agree with your evaluation that using desks is "noob" or "lazy". I have rooms in my base made by stacking desks that I haven't changed since making them YEARS AGO, because I like the way they look and changing them is unnecessary. I'm not being a noob or being lazy - I'm just satisfied with the way the room came out.Desks are flawed because of the following reasons:
1. There's only one level on a desk that you can place the tile.
2. If you stack desks, and then want to delete a desk in the middle of the stack, you cannot just delete it, you have to drag it to another room to delete it.
3. Stacked desks causes some texture overlappings. This is that graphical issue you see between the desks that occurs when you move the camera about. This promotes a lot of lag within your base if done frequently.
4. To me anyways, it looks like noob base work. You can do the same thing and have 12 more options with lamps and avoid texture overlapping. When I go into a base, and all I see is stacked desks and no other forms of stacking I either assume the builder is lazy or just does not know the better options.
And also - stacker stated in his post above that he still uses desks from time to time.
So your statement that using desks is noobish or lazy or "don't know any better" comes off as a bit judgemental and arrogant. -
I have several friends that play on and off - in fact a group of them made a SG based around membership in our other shared hobby (the SCA, Middle Kingdom - Draco Invictus!).
I've also been to 2 Meet & Greets at Origins, with some of the same players from year to year (Hi, Hyperstrike! Hi, satorisan!).
On-line - I have been a semi-regular member of a Saturday TF group and other members of that group play together when we happen to be on-line together at other times and look each other up fpr teaming. -
Same here - not subscribed to the newsletter, been a few CBs, usually find out by being able to see the CB forums, not by getting an email (though I got an email first the last time).
Sounds like an urban myth to me, someone add it to the list, right alongside clicking the glowies in the blueside respec. -
I know that generally, there has been no way to change an SG name, and I understand all the reasons why and agree with them (for the most part).
But in a case like this where the name change is only in spelling (and to correct a misspelled word, at that) - it is certainly worth asking a GM if it can be done.
If they say no way, you aren't out anything for asking. -
Quote:There are indeed reasons to move other than performance - like not particularly caring for the general atmosphere of the players community on a particular server. For reasons other than server performance issues with higher population?
I ask as I went on to mention perceived server performance issues as a reason for moving to a less populated server.
It's interesting news to me if people moved because they actively wanted to be on a server with lower population but not due to perceived performance issues. Is that what you're saying people have done, according to anecdotal evidence?
Anecdotally - I had a character on Freedom I created to see what the fuss was all about. I played her up a few levels, then decided I didn't like the tone of Freedom PuGs (since the character was an experiment, she had no support structure in place (friends, sg, etc.) so the only teaming was PuG). I have moved her off Freedom to a server where I had those support structures in place.
So, there's an anecdote for you. -
There are three types of lies out there - lies, damn lies and statistics - to paraphrase Mark Twain.
Game is busier than it was (at least in some zones), new people asking questions here on the forums, servers showing yellow and red.
As much disdain as OP has for this game, one wonders why he is still here and paying for a sub. -
Pretty much what M_B said.
But NO CUTSCENES! Hate cutscenes. -
Pretty good day, for the most part. Kinda slow at work, due to it being the first of the month and my customers have better things to do than to call me with questions.
-
Oh, pooh!
It looks like this is a no go. -
I voted for Brainiac 5, 'cause of his mad people skillz (yeah, he makes people angry!)
Seriously, I've been a LSH fan for years and missed this rebooting. Thanks for the heads-up, H4L! -
The number 1 reason I don't put a cape on a character is whether I am using longer hair that clips badly. Yes, all my characters are female, so hair length is a consideration.
I also didn't put one on my one natural scrapper Jazzercise, because she just left the gym and nobody wears a cape at the gym.
Travel power doesn't really enter into the decision, since 95% of my characters Fly. -
Quote:I kinda like the category idea - but we also may need a "Misc" category (for things like myths & legends - unless those all go under books, but then I won't be able to use both a myth/legend/folk tale/fairy tale pick except by losing my "awesome" book pick.)Might as well sign me up too. I luvs me some drafting.
edit--Do the standard 4 picks but separate it according to genre (book, tv, movie, games). It helps narrow down what you need to select and we can easily find 16 of each.
So setting up 4 categories might be too limiting. -
I'll play!
I thought of several bad parents reading that thread as well. -
I'm not really sure who John Wick is and why we need to pay atention to his pronouncements on the topic of the decline in tabtletop gaming.
But as someone who has been involved in organizing some of those conventions with declining membership, I have to say that the economy has LOTS to do with the declining amount of money spent on things that can be considered "extra" like purchasing new games and more importantly, attending conventions - which can easily cost a single person a few hundred dollars (depending upon hotel expenses mainly), let alone those with families who may want to attend.
When you are worried about making rent or the mortgage payment, spending $40 or more on a hardback game book or $200-300 on attending a convention are generally one of the first things to go. But if you are a gamer who enjoys tabletop games - that just means you go back to what you already have sitting on your shelf, be it Vampire: the Masquerade or DnD 3.5 or whatever. -
Quote:Now I have this very weird mental picture of Frank crossed with Tim Curry as Darkness in Legend - 8 feet tall with demon horns, a corset, fishnet stockings and F-Me heels.I had to get up and cover as Frank because the girl playing him was too drunk and got sick... the very first time I ever saw it in the theater. At 16 years old. Yes, I already knew all the songs, but improv blocking was a pain.
Need more alcohol or some mental floss now.
