As stated, I will watch *this* episode. Love me some RHPS. When's it air? Oh. Oct 26th.

Be well, people of CoH.

From TVguide.com.

Also, apparently Dr. Carl will opt to play Eddie with an Elvis Prestley slant. I wonder why... Have mercy.

Edit: I was really hoping that Puck or Finn would play Frank 'N' Furter. Unfortunately, there's not really a story way you can justify Puck playing anything resembling non-hetero and Finn makes too much sense for Brad.

I am soooooooo looking forward to this one

Interestingly, looking at my musicals collection, I've just realised.....nothing from Rent yet! Surely that's illegal for a show such as this one?

Makes you wonder if they have plans for it, and perhaps other musicals in the future? Wouldn't Kurt make an awesome Lil Orphan Annie?!!

Rent being my favorite musical, this has struck me, too. Thing is, the songs that are the greatest in Rent are the ones that are the most offensive (La Vie Boheme, namely). They may need to be careful. Then again, "Take Me or Leave Me" would work with a couple of the couples.

As for "Seasons of Love", well that is to Broadway as Bohemian Rhapsody is to rock. As such, I imagine that they're saving it for a special occasion.

I'm still waiting on a Blues Brothers episode.

By the way, the reason why Puck isn't in the episode or last night's is apparently Mark Salling violated his contract and recorded an album on his own so the producers are "punishing" him.

It's not even that good of an album... >.>

It's worth the $10, but it's nothing phenomenal.

Fair point, I can see how La Vie Boheme might annoy the PC brigade out there, plus some of the songs have drugs references etc, but then again, Rocky Horror......transvestitism and incestous relationships?

Funny story: While I was in the shower this morning, I was thinking about this conversation and this exact point hit me.

Not my best point.

Rocky Horror has a big culty geek following (and a slightly more mainstream one here in the UK thanks to it being the home of Richard O'Brian).

The average American isn't going to even know about Rocky Horror.

Also, curse you Americans for getting this waaaaayyyy earlier than we Brits do.

Strange tangent...but it appears the the new Guitar hero is also tied in with this, since that is releasing a Rocky Horror download pack (Time Warp, Sweet Transvestite and Hot patootie) on the same date as this episode of Glee airs.

I also get anxious when I get those brief glimpses at how wide spread and coordinated commercial products are. Usually invokes paranoia and this brief reminder that all anyone wants is money, ya know?

Good thing this Coca-Cola is calming me down.

On a funny related note, I have Team America's song parody of Rent stuck in my head.

There's already been a student caught completely naked and masturbating in the school's library, I think transvestitism is a pretty small problem compared to that

I saw RH over fifty times in its original American movie theater release. There should be a badge for that.

Previews of the song covers. Warning: Very low quality.

I begrudgingly accept the lyric changes. It sucks, but... oh well.

Edit: Apparently Fox blocked Glee from going full force with Dr. Frank 'n' Furter. Hence Mercedes and toned down lyrics.

I had to get up and cover as Frank because the girl playing him was too drunk and got sick... the very first time I ever saw it in the theater. At 16 years old. Yes, I already knew all the songs, but improv blocking was a pain.

Gah...Sweet Transvestite...what did they do to you?!

Eh...sorry but most of those covers really kind of sucked, far too pop orientated for my tastes.

Edit:

Why was transexual removed from the lyrics if she says Transvestite the moment before...that makes no sense!

2nd Edit:

Also being played by a woman who still uses the term Transvestite has unfortunate implications moving Frank N Furter from pre-op transexual to post-op transexual, sorry just found that mildly amusing.

Gutted by censorship and moral cowardice. Ah, well.

No public high school would ever put on Rocky Horror just as none would do a serious subject musical like Rent. Too "adult" for the kiddies. An arts magnet school maybe but for normal public schools, the powers that run it are as narrow minded and budget driven as Figgins on Glee.

Also standards and practices at Fox simply wouldn't allow some of the songs unedited. So we get the Rocky Horror equivalent to the NA aired version of DBZ Kai with the turning halos into glowing dots and whatever euphemism they are using for dead.

The movie version is still rated R in the US and it's not just because of the nipple slip during the floor show.

Ah that does explain it.

The movie is rated 15 here (equivilent to your PG-13 I guess...).

But then Rocky Horror (both stage show and movie) are seen somewhat as an institution here in Britain.

Rocky Horror is actually quite a high pick for the 'end of year' Drama school production during the College years (we start College at 16 here in the UK).

Well it's was popular throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s here in the states. At least around where I lived. Really big with the college and post college crowd. However I only see Rocky Horror playing around Halloween lately as oppose to midnight every Friday and Saturday.

I think there was a special for the 25th anniversary of it on one of our cable music TV channels, VH-1 I think. But since then, nothing on standard TV here.

Now I have this very weird mental picture of Frank crossed with Tim Curry as Darkness in Legend - 8 feet tall with demon horns, a corset, fishnet stockings and F-Me heels.

Need more alcohol or some mental floss now.

Holy crap I demand a picture of that now.

But anyway, the Rocky Horror Glee Show will be awesome, even if it's disappointing simply because it's Rocky Horror and Glee together.

Also if I'm right, wouldn't this be the most mainstream pop culture exposure of the movie since it first came out?
