  1. Hey all

    Just wanted to pop my head in and say good luck.

    I would advice some/all the illusion controllers go in a bit early or even set up a practice run before the raid.
    PA dropping is a bit tricky after I7 hit so for maximum aggro coverage I would suggest some practice.

    And again...good luck everyone.

    I'll totally be there this time.

    I appreciate the advice, but I was really going for a more solo-able build. If this one won't work, how could I improve it for soloability?

    [/ QUOTE ]Pick another secondary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Constructive as ever.

    Energy/Cold

    Cold is a team set...that's how it is.

    My ice/cold is atm lvl 39 but below is my 50 build. I've tried various builds where some where more solo friendly but have ended up with the below. This can still be used for soloing...a bit slow though.

    Can't comment much on the nrg side.
  5. Your build looks pretty good.

    a few things:

    I would advice against Dimension Shift. It will more be an annoyance than helpful...if you want to pick up a cage go for Sonic Cage instead.

    Disruption Field is a very nice power but won't really work with your Sing because of it's repel but if teaming with a scrapper or tank it's very good! Be prepared to take a lot of aggro because of it though...and it's pretty end heavy.

    Liquefy: Must admit I've only seen a defender use this and....it's utter pants! The knockdown is neglible at best. Maybe it's better for controllers?

    Other than that it looks good.

    (I'm sure Okton will jump at this thread at some point )
  6. Hotfeet is absolutely fantastic and it will do more dmg than imps.

    You should be a bit careful about choosing it though seeing it has a massive end use...so coupled with /storm it can be a bit tricky. If you have an empath or kin with you then definately go for it.

    Slotting would be:
    PvE: 3 end red, 3 dmg
    PvP: 3 end red, 2 dmg, 1 acc
  7. Archy

    Energy/Cold

    It's by no means gimped...far from it.

    Builds for ?/cold are very hard to make and really depends on playstyle and how you wish to play it.

    Basically every power in /cold are great and because of that it's very hard to make it all fit in there.

    So? what's your plans? Solo? Teams? PvE? PvP? Hybrid?

    Personally have a lvl 39 ice/cold which is built primarily as a buffer for PvP so that means he only has 2 attacks and Aim from the primary and every power from the secondary.

    I figured that in full on frezied mode, 3x Super Speed and Hastened I would be burning end at an enormous rate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Clickfest is the word your after

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And you will but with Transference it isn't a problem.

    Slot it either 2 acc, 1 rech, 3 end mod or 2 acc, 2 rech,2 end mod according to your playstyle.

    An important point. Why is Speed Boost slotted with Recharge Reduction?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Soz, I'm completely ignorant about Speed Boost and the slotting was really a bit of an after-thought. I pressume that End Mods are the way to go and that the recharge on it is pretty reasonable if I don't need recharge redux in there?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes. 2-3 EndMods is all it needs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ....which is the typically way of slotting it. For PvP I would probably go 2 end mod, 2 run speed, 2 range....but as Okton said...the end mods will do fine

    One thing I don't understand though...why all the end reds in your powers? I can understand up till Transference but after that theres really no need.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
    well I for one agree with Amellie, as ud expect.

    and as u will also i expect i couldnt give a damn if u wanna pvp or not, just leave ones that arent the feck alone! >.<

    AHAHAHAHAHA.....thats funny
  11. Archy

    The Cage.

    Yup...very fun map for duels...it may replace the office map as the most annoying for team fights though.

    EDIT: Thought it was the other more dreaded CAGE!!1! this thread was about
  12. hehe....damn you and your concepts Carni

    Well....if it's between Primal and Ice it's really up to playstyle.

    Ice wins on the single target blast

    Primal wins on the armor.

    Hibernate is awesome.

    Power Boost is normal circumstances awesome aswell....but not as much for this combo.

    Conserve Power is good. Quite handy with /storm but a long recharge.

    Ice Storm is ok with freezing rain and snow storm and maybe spec terror...ok...but not great.

    If you're comfortable with Hibernate I would probably stick with Ice.
  13. Personally I would go for the Fire epic when you're /storm.

    Fire shield is brilliant combined with Steamy Mist and the obvious Fireball/Fire blast and to a lesser extent Consume are great.

    /Storm doesnt benefit much from PB as Gen 2 and Okt has said so Fire would definately be it for me.

    Hibernate is a nice power though

    if your wanting to drop toggles use repel

    [/ QUOTE ]5% Chance to drop one toggle, WAY too unreliable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Toggledropping got nerfed badly. Only reliable ways of doing it now is mezzes.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    Hmm how about Accelarate Metabolism i believe it has mez protection for sleep,hold,stun,immob so thats like having aid self's stun rez acro's hold rez Cj's immob mez and well extra sleep mez. so hehe.

    Gin

    [/ QUOTE ]

    AM gives resistance to said mez's but not protection ie it will lower the duration you are affected by a mez.

    Can I just ask, why do we have a GM team now, when the initial idea was rejected?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    The idea of a public one was rejected for various reasons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Which was?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Mob mentality. Plight Trawler is a close friend of the Inner Monkey and The Paragon Defenders. What's more, he's on Teamspeak, assembles the team only from those that we trust and is pretty much private about what he's doing where.

    It is highly risky to have a forum organised team that may or may not broadcast about attacking GM's and then have some of the Hold group peeling off to deal with them or have mass attackers in the jelly. What's more, we can't be having with needing to send /tell's with lag flying around.

    It's just too risky.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I can see where your coming from, but, with all them spare tanks, scrappers and blaster etc. Just standing around wouldint it be good to give us something to do?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This isn't just during the holdphase....it's during the whole raid.

    And I have to admit I'm a bit tired of people saying they haven't got anything to do...the holdphase lasts 10-15 mins!!
  18. Playing CoX is a learning curve and noone can tell you what to play and what to enjoy as it's very personal.

    Personally started out with a kin/dark defender which I played till roughly lvl 40 before I rolled a controller...and I have never looked back since

    One thing I will say is: If you like controllers at lowlvls...then just wait till post lvl 22 where you will be OMG!!1!...and then post lvl 41 where you will be ZOMG!!1!!1....or something
  19. Looking forward to tonight...time for some more jelly

    Please respect Plight's wishes...if he needs help it will be called for by Plight, White Magus or Xanthus.
  20. Yes, isn't maturity a funny thing?
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    Villains don't show up as heroes are generally a lot stronger in PvP. Getting pounced on a pounded to the floor repeatedly by toons who attacks you can't hope to combat or resist is not fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...which is...of course...not true.

    I agree that heroes generally got the advantage in the 40+ fights seeing epics are generally better than patrons and maybe because theres more of them? There's plenty of ways to "combat and resist", as you say, heroes in PvP.

    Union ones tend to be more dispersed than the Defiant ones, as we have no prominent player who organises them

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You dont have to be prominent.

    Most of the people who turn up turn up for the hami raid dont have a clue who the raid leader is.

    Most raid leaders have their heads bashing against the wall with the amount of uncooperative, poor listeners in the raid.

    Most raid leaders dont try again the following week which is not offering more opportunity for people to get better and better as a community on it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Never been to a Union raid since my highest is lvl 24 there but on Defiant we've been running with Xanthus and the recent addition of White Magus as raidleaders for, roughly, the last 10 raids.
    The different teamleaders are more or less always the same aswell.

    We've written a guide which we urge people to read (of course not everyone does).
    Before the raid starts the leader(s) will explain to people the different phases and whos responsible for what.

    Just to mention an example: The last raid we had, when White Magus called for everyone out of the bubble...within 30 seconds everyone was at Cowards Hill!! We we're flabbergasted on teamspeak to say the least

    That is such an absurd comment it doesnt warrant a real responce.

    My posts were meant to be useful, and based on my experience with /rad (including a lvl 50 controller), playstyle and personal opinion. It seems that the OP feels otherwise, so I think it's time for me to drop this thread. If you look at my first post, I did make a suggestion about where to slot an EndRdx (which was I think your main question). And it's quite clear from your posts that you don't fully understand how RI works: you can't slot ThT_Bufs into it, it's mainly ThT_Debuf (crucial, as other have pointed out in this thread) or Def_Debuf (less so for PvE). Anyway, good luck with your toon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Totally agree with Okton here.

    Power enhancing and Power synergy are 2 different things.

    For the record: Just because it's on the US forums doesn't make it true....not by a longshot.
  24. White Magus on his first 50 controller White Phantasm...proud to have you in our SG man.

    Mazos on her first 50 tank Sexy Siren...keep all the Icons going!!

    Psy- on her first 50 scrap Psy-Kick....keep besting/trying to best Maz' cossies

    Boomer on his 50 controller Wind Chill...it took a while, but you got there in the end

    and of course our very own Disruptor on his first 50 scrap Paragon Law...impressive considering your altitis

    Big GRATS!! again all
  25. well....acro or hover/fly is essential for me because I absolutely hate being knocked back.

    Knockback resistance isnt needed on any AT/toon but very handy to have. I went with fly in this build because as I said Fly goes really well with ill and you can get a nice speed on hover with siphon speed + the fact you would need to drop some handy powers such as deceive and flash if you wanted to go the ss/sj route.

    a ss/sj PvE build would be something like this:

    ---------------------------------------------
    Name:
    Level: 50
    Archetype: Controller
    Primary: Illusion Control
    Secondary: Kinetics
    ---------------------------------------------
    01) --> Blind==> Acc(1) Acc(34) Rechg(34) Rechg(37) Hold(40) Hold(40)
    01) --> Transfusion==> Acc(1) Acc(9) Rechg(9) Heal(17) Heal(17) Heal(31)
    02) --> Spectral Wounds==> Acc(2) Acc(3) Dmg(3) Dmg(5) Dmg(7) Rechg(7)
    04) --> Siphon Power==> Acc(4) Acc(5) Rechg(43) Rechg(46)
    06) --> Hurdle==> Jump(6)
    08) --> Combat Jumping==> Jump(8)
    10) --> Siphon Speed==> Acc(10) Acc(11) Rechg(11) Rechg(15) Rechg(15)
    12) --> Group Invisibility==> Rechg(12) Rechg(13) Rechg(13)
    14) --> Super Jump==> Jump(14)
    16) --> Swift==> Run(16)
    18) --> Phantom Army==> Rechg(18) Rechg(19) Rechg(19) Dmg(25) Dmg(27) Dmg(31)
    20) --> Stamina==> EndMod(20) EndMod(21) EndMod(21)

    24) --> Acrobatics==> EndRdx(24) EndRdx(25)
    26) --> Spectral Terror==> Acc(26) Fear(27) Fear(46)
    28) --> Hasten==> Rechg(28) Rechg(29) Rechg(29)
    30) --> Super Speed==> Run(30) EndRdx(31)
    32) --> Phantasm==> Acc(32) Acc(33) Dmg(33) Dmg(33) Dmg(34)
    35) --> Transference==> Acc(35) Acc(36) Rechg(36) EndMod(36) EndMod(37) EndMod(37)
    38) --> Fulcrum Shift==> Acc(38) Acc(39) Rechg(39) Rechg(39) Rechg(40) EndRdx(50)
    41) --> Fire Ball==> Acc(41) Acc(42) Dmg(42) Dmg(42) Dmg(43) Rechg(43)
    44) --> Fire Shield==> EndRdx(44) EndRdx(45) DmgRes(45) DmgRes(45) DmgRes(46)
    47) --> Fire Blast==> Acc(47) Acc(48) Dmg(48) Dmg(48) Dmg(50) Rechg(50)
    49) --> Increase Density==> DmgRes(49)
    ---------------------------------------------
    01) --> Sprint==> Empty(1)
    01) --> Brawl==> Empty(1)
    01) --> Containment==> Empty(1)
    02) --> Rest==> Empty(2)
    ---------------------------------------------

    No Flash and Deceive in this build as theres simply no room....matter of playstyle.

    Note that Blind and Flash are the only wasy to set up containment for an ill troller.

    If we're talking damage controllers you would be best off with either ill/rad, fire/rad or fire/kin.
    Ill/rad is good from lvl 1 and onwards and quite safe. Fire/rad is the same but a bit slower at first but really takes off at lvl 32 when you get imps.
    Fire/kin is quite slow to begin with, takes off at 32 when you got imps, all your end problems are solved at lvl 35 and theres no stopping you from lvl 38.
