Try a Fire/Rad that should rock your boat I have 1 at lvl 35 its great for teams and for solo.

1st thign to say is WELCOME TO COH!!!
Play which ever u hav the most fun with . ATs are more segregated in COH then in CoV i feel.
I like playing support toons mostly; and almost never solo. Team lots, SG and PuGs alike.
Also to note - I think there are often different stages of maturation of a toon, and L11- u prob arent getting to nice juicy bits of a AT.
The 1st interesting level is L14 and travel powers.
Next is around L24 (usually this mean something significant eg stamina, or a grp hold etc)
And finally L32 (again another significant point to gain mucho power eg Pets for trollers, granite for a stone tank)
Found L41 and above - a bit of a grind really.
Personally - i hav found the following pretty intersting
(1) stone/anything tank
(2) nrg/elect blaster
(3) ice/rad troller
(4) ill/kin troller - agree with u; mine is only L17; absolutely loving it!
(5) used to love empaths, but got bored at L41 (sigh - wot a waste huh)
I am also interested in (but not played hte follwoing ATs)

Playing CoX is a learning curve and noone can tell you what to play and what to enjoy as it's very personal.
Personally started out with a kin/dark defender which I played till roughly lvl 40 before I rolled a controller...and I have never looked back since
One thing I will say is: If you like controllers at lowlvls...then just wait till post lvl 22 where you will be OMG!!1!...and then post lvl 41 where you will be ZOMG!!1!!1....or something

For the past few days i have been try'in to adapt to CoH after my recent upgrade, i was wondering if there was any advise on archetypes n powersets that would help me ?

I'm really into the illusionary powers set it rocks so far.
so far between both servers i have made:-
illusion/rad controler (i luv this)
illusion/kin (i luv this)
electric/electric blaster (loosing intrest fast
mace/inv tank (not bad)
bs/sr scrapper (good but seems slow)
dm/regen scrapper (good)
ice/ice blaster (loosing intrest fast)
ice/axe tank (i think this is really [censored])
sonic/rad deffender (pretty good)
all these r LvL 11 or less tho still, plz any advise is helpful
