I suspect that we will at the very least get the options available ot masterminds.

Quote:Yeah, I've heard this from enough people to become semi-convinced that a dev did say something that could be interpreted along those lines but like you I've never seen the proof. That looks like a pre-I9 comment. I heard rumor that a red name had more-recently posted that the originally-unintended uses of Hamios are no longer considered an exploit, and are now considered a feature of the Hamios. Not that the comment was explained to me, but I'd assume the rationale is that it has been like this for years and years, and that Hamios have almost nothing going for them over IOs EXCEPT for things like this. Never saw the post itself, assuming there is or was such a post. It's just what I heard.
If for some reason it IS still considered an exploit, and is still some day changed, I'll need to change my build. Builds requiring changes is par for the course in this game due to nerfs, buffs and new IOs. No biggie.
Quote:I follow the dev digest fairly religiously, and I don't remember that, exactly. What I remember Castle saying was that this wasn't the sort of thing they were going to hunt down and punish players for, but if they could ever make it so that enhancers didn't work this way, they would, and so "slotter beware". I do believe he also said it wasn't likely to change anytime soon because it's at such a fundamental level in how the boosts system works, but that may have been a follow-up comment by a non-redname. -
The market forum is often a good place to ask this sort of question. In fact there's a thread in there about it right now.

Quote:HOs scale at the same rate as SOs. So a level 53 HO provides the same enhancement values as +3 SOs.I didn't even realize that you could get L53 EEs...how much do they improve over L50s?

The powers do stack without any diminishing returns. However there are limits on how much you can stack a particular buff.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Limits
Additionally both defense and to hit have soft caps where more bonuses won't help (unless you're fighting enemies with high debuff powers). For defense this cap is 45%. For To Hit it's a little trickier since it depends on your accuracy but assuming 1.00x Accuracy it's 20% against even con enemies and 65% against +5s. With 1.33X Accuracy (a single SO) the maximum useful To Hit is 0% against even cons and 41.5% against +5s. -
The end game is what you chose to make of it. In Lithid's case this apparently includes running PvE content with a possibly exemplared level 50 and PvPing. For others the end game consists of rolling a new character. Yes this game does lack the end game raid progression of a game like WoW but I'm fed up with the claims that there is nothing to do as a level 50.

I think the problem is that your search terms are to short. Most forum software packages require a minimum length to search terms (I believe it's 4 characters). Unfortunately this forum doesn't tell you that that is why the search failed. For comparison I just did a test, emp fails for me but both empathy and tank work.

Quote:I had to upgrade to Excel 2007 a while back due to the line limits in Excel 2003. At first the ribbon things really bugged me but now I love it. It takes some getting used to but IMHO it's a huge improvement over the old menus. They do? Urrgh (although this urrgh could be more to to with my inability to fathom it and to miss the older more normal menu systems). Pretty moot as well since I use OpenOffice, The Gimp and jEdit on every machine regardless of OS.
And on topic, isn't Mac OS Linux / Unix based now and if so could you use something like WINE to handle Mids? I'm guessing the answer is no but I've no idea about Macs so I figured I'd ask. -
I just ran a search (for the word scrapper if you care) and it worked ok so it sounds like a settings issue. What are you looking for?
-
No they were offering that price for the total of 10 rolls not for each roll so selling to both would result in 250mil. Which is still a nice chunk of change.

Yeah it's strange, I hate cooking in real life but it's one of the things I do like in video games. Of course given that most of our opponents are humans adding the ability to cook them might be a little much.... (anyone for a Roast Malta Gunslinger Liver?)

Quote:Well said. I use Windows for one reason and one reason only. It has the highest quantity of software that I'm interested in that will run on it natively (mostly video games). An operating system by itself is not interesting or useful, it is only useful as a means of running software.<qr>
Y'know... the whole OS wars bit was tiresome back when it was DOS/Win9x vs NT vs OS/2 vs CLI-only (or barely XFree, at the time) Linux vs Unix vs Mac .... yeah, when we had *more* choices.
I'll happily discuss advantages vs disadvantages. But that's *not* the same as OS snobbery. I'm running Windows 7 (and, on my work system, XP.) I've run, and generally like, OS X. Linux I've run on occasion, but not as a main OS, but do think it's getting to a point where more people *could* use it (and paving over some of the distro-fracture is good.) Is one better than the other? Is a hammer better than a paintbrush? They're tools. Something which some of the users need to *stop* being in these discussions. -
Good luck with that, there can't be that many left . Out of curiosity, do any 51s or 52s actually exist? I know there was a bug that made level 53s but I wasn't aware of any 51s or 52s.

Quote:Using your definition then I think you could make an argument for Recluse being Chaotic Evil. However your definition doesn't really match the D&D definition.Recluse himself is Chaotic Evil. The whole "survival of the fittest" thing is 100% chaotic evil. As far as "oh, but Arachnos is so organized", that argument doesn't hold water. Chaotic in this context does not mean "chaos" it means "the needs of the individual far outweigh the needs of the many". Think of Arachnos and then consider if one of their soldiers drank from the Well of the Furies and became just as powerful or even more powerful than Lord Recluse. If the soldier in question immediately started working their way up through the ranks using their new-found powers and stuck to the protocols involving such advancement then he would definitely be Lawful Evil. If, on the other hand, the Soldier killed everyone who had ever ticked him off then went gunning for Recluse himself so HE could run Arachnos, and (if successful) Arachnos ACCEPTED it, then we're talking a Chaotic Evil group of individuals.

Quote:I think BBQ_Pork covered it pretty well but I'd like to add this quote from the official background which I think illustrates why Arachnos is not chaotic. From the official website we have this:No way, Arachnos and Recluse SUPPORT chaos amongst their ranks. Note "Darwin's Landing". The entire ORGANIZATION is based on the chaotic notion of dog eat dog and survival of the fittest.
Quote:The Rogue Isles today are a land of opportunity for those with the ambition and villainy to seize the chances that come by. Lord Recluse tolerates the ambitions of others – to a point. Anyone willing to follow his laws, pay his “taxes” and accept his justice without question is welcome to Spider City. So long as you don’t threaten his plans, you can make schemes of your own. What does he care if a shipment of artifacts for the Circle of Thorns is stolen from the docks? Nothing – so long as the thieves are not so brash as to use them against Arachnos. If you can rob a bank and escape his security forces, then is it a good test of your skill – but rob too many banks, create too much havoc and the Wolfspiders will hunt you down. He tolerates ambition, but not anarchy. -
This. Both Archery and Assault Rifle are rather weak compared to other blast sets until you factor in the T9. RoA and Full Auto have a huge advantage over other nukes in that they don't have any form of end crash and have a short enough recharge that with slotting you can use them every spawn (or every other if you're on a very fast team). For defenders the lack of an end crash is particuarly nice since it means you don't have to worry about endurance for buffs/debuffs after using your "nuke".

I disagree. Arachnos and the Rogue Island Villains come across to me as more Lawful Evil than Chaotic Evil. There are some individual villains and some of the minor groups that are clearly Chaotic Evil but overall Arachnos and Lord Recluse seem to be Lawful Evil.

Quote:If you're hurting for set bonuses then that is an option however as LostHalo said frankenslotting and especially Lysomes are a much better use of slots from the point of view of increasing the power. In particular Lysomes have Accuracy, To Hit Debuff and Defense Debuff so you're basically getting 3SOs worth of enhancement for every one that you slot.Okay, good to know. Sounds like this will work better with a Tank or if I'm hovering over the enemies (which I have) and they're focused on me. Probably won't be too helpful on a mostly ranged team, like I had last time. I am going to get a set in there at some point... probably one of the accurate -to hit ones, as they have decent bonuses.

Only the mods can remove rep and they generally only do it in cases where the comment is in violation of forum rules.

Quote:As a side note, since zephyr -kb is a global you don't really want a level 50 anyway . I've ended up purchasing a few of them directly with merits due to my obsessive need to have the best possible level for my IOs and a complete lack of stocK of them at level 10.so i was bidding on blessing of the zephyr -kb pieces last night and they were nearing 100m at level 50, so i started looking at the lower level ones and grabbed a few for around 1/2 that price, each. this got me thinking, what if inventions didnt have levels attached to them? what if they just dropped in certain level ranges or to certain tasks etc..? how would that affect the market and the way things are priced? would stuff equalize higher or would prices come down because of higher perceived stock.

Quote:I don't think there's any real thematic problem, you just have to assume that heroes and villains aren't really trading for example:Really, I see this as a move to chop of their nose to spite their faces and will reward negative actions (switching sides to manipulate the market) instead of gracefully figuring out a way to make it thematic instead of "NO! NEVER! CRUD! THEY'VE RUINED OUR ROLEPLAY WITH THEIR EXPLOITS! HAMMER TIME!"
Hero purchases from a Villain:
1. Longbow makes a raid on the Black Market and recovers some stolen goods
2. Since the original owners have long since collected on their insurance the goods are the legal property of the insurance companies who...
3. Donate them to heroes for publicity and as a tax break
4. The hero's who receive the items lose influence since they are regarded as selling out
5. In order to preserve their reputation the Black Market covers up the theft and tells the villains that the items sold
Villain purchases from a Hero:
1. Several B-list villains stage a raid on Wentworths and steal some gear which they fence on the Black Market
2. Wentworth's reimburses the Heroes for their lost gear and collect against their theft insurance
3. The rates charged for Wentworth's theft insurance increase
4. Again. -
Well, I'm thinking I'll use it for a Defender. Probably either Storm or Dark since I want to try both sets eventually anyway. I might do Kin but I'm useless at remembering to buff so I don't know if I'm willing to tolerate the aggro I'll no doubt get from having an SB-less kin.
-
That's your prerogative, but I really don't think a rez is worth wasting two power choices on. Kinetics already has Transfusion and Increase Density so you won't get much use out of the other medicine powers. In general you'll be better if you use those choices for something use (leadership maybe?) and carry extra wakies.
