I run a task force a night, usually, and usually run one on a levelling character. Most of my characters level on task forces. Merits are relatively easy for me to come by compared to inf; I buy what meets the character's needs, roll the rest, and pass the enhancements on to my banking character. Only on that character do I try to accumulate inf.
Taking random rolls means gambling, and you should only gamble with stuff you can afford to lose. You might hit the jackpot and end up with a bag full of Numinas and Miracles. Or you could end up with sniper and pet damage junk.

A Lv30 Eradication quad costs 200 Merits or 50m.
A Lv50 Luck of the Gambler +7.5 is 200 Merits as well, but sells for 100m (recipe). So you could buy one of that instead, sell it, and buy two Eradication rares off the market.
You save 200 Merits, and avoid all the risk associated with random rolls.

I love this section of the forums. Solid, economical and sneaky advice, plus two or three other options that you wouldn't normally think of.
A.) Grab two LotGs to finance your plans, or
B). 500 merits amounts to, what, about 25 rare recipe rolls? If you can split 10 each between Fulmens and eryq2, you'll have 2.5B to spend on builds, and 100 merits to spare. 
Then you'll have to post your inf. cap screencaps.
