After playing around with the pack... well, it has issues for me.
Female Heads:
1: Detail 2 'Victorian Steampunk 01' I feel needs a version without the broach.
2: Hair 'Victorian Steampunk 01' does not take a blending second colour, so my character who usually has White/Pale Yellow hair for a very light blonde can't use it, as I can only have white or straw coloured hair.
3: Hat 'Classic Steampunk 01' needs a version sans goggles, and I would love to see the ringlets hairstyle without a hat.
4: Face Classic Steampunk has make-up, which means that applying lip colour does not work properly. Same goes for Victorian Steampunk face.
Female Upper Body:
1: No Sleeveless Jackets option.
2: Classic and Victorian Jackets don't have the same texture as the Classic Steampunk Sleeve, making it look slightly off.
3: There really needs to be a Wrist Victorian Steampunk option to go with the Victorian Steampunk Sleeves. Or even a longer Victorian Steampunk Sleeve to compensate. Also, a version without the lace.
4: Chest Detail Classic Steampunk 01 could do with a version with a longer corset part.
5: Gloves Classic Steampunk really needs a Victorian Steampunk counter part, with the rows of buttons that the boots have.
6: Belt Classic Steampunk 01 and 02 need a version without the timepiece.
Female Lower Body:
1: A Classic Steampunk dress is not present, leaving only the not quite suitable Victorian Steampunk dress for an outfit. Something with ruffles and thigh-concealment would be nice.
2: There is no option to colour the inside of Victorian Steampunk Dress, which is odd considering there is no other colour option to it.
3: No Boots Smooth/Classic Steampunk option, or a knee high Victorian Boots option.
Male Head:
1: The secondary colour affects the colour of the Detail 2/Classic Steampunk Beard.
2: The Classic and Victorian Steampunk facial hair do not accept a second colour, thus no blending.
3: There is no hair colour change option on Hats/Classic Steampunk 1 or Victorian Steampunk 1.
4: Hats/Classic Steampunk 1's components look glued on, with no rhyme or reason for why they are there. It seems to be take hat texture and stick on bits.
Male Upper Body:
1: No Sleeveless Jacket options.
2: The Sleeve options do not match the Jacket options texture.
3: Mandatory bow Tie on Classic Steampunk 1 jacket that can't be colour changed.
4: Mandatory crevat on Victorian Steampunk 3 jacket that cannot be colour changed.
5: Victorian Steampunk Jacket 1 and 2 are colour locke in the gold edging. Secondary colour on Steampunk 1 jacket does nothing.
6: Victorian Steampunk 01 Sleeves do not have an option to change the gold edging. Secondary colour does nothing.
7: No Time Belt Option for Male characters.
8: No victorian glove option.
9: No smooth/Victorian or Classic Steampunk Glove option.
Male Lower Body:
1: Classic Steampunk Boots have no option to change gold or silver parts. Secondary colour does nothing.
2: Victorian Steampunk boots have no otpion to change gold part, secondary colour does nothing.
3: CLassic and Victorian Steampunk options only exist for tucked in trousers, none for pants.
I have not noticed any differing issues with the Huge options, so they apply to Male as well.
Would like to have:
An end to the jacket gender divide. Long jackets (Victorian and Baron) for female characters, bolero and the short victorian/classic jacket options for male. They'd work, they could be used. I can get a martial artist outfit for a male character in mind using the female jacket, almost a little Foreshadow style. -
Is there any way to do it without redownloading the entire client, like we were able to before? Because I currently want to tear the new launcher up as it made something apparently simple a whole lot more complicated and bothersome.
ETA: Downloading it anyway, but trying to make it use the EU Test Folder (now deleted in rage) resulted in it throwing errors at me saying that there was already one in there, so it couldn't install it. -
Quote:But... but... we need to come together, to eradicate the zombies and then rebuild!I don't understand what any of these terms mean. When the zombie apocalypse comes, I only see two distinctions: you're either infected, or you're a liability. And I don't truck with either of those things.
Be part of the wolf pack, don't go alone like the lone wolf sans pack! -
*Takes off Roleplayer hat* *Puts on Zombie Survivor Hat*
Kids, let ol' Auntie Zortel teach you a few things about Zed killing and chainsaws.
Don't do it.
While you're gibbing the deadheads, think of all those droplets and chunks, that may be teaming with biohazards of all sorts. You're putting yourself and your fellow survivors at risk.
Chainsaws are noisy, use energy that would be better used elsewhere, and you could hurt yourself in the commotion.
Auntie Z's Recommendation:
You want to fight in close range? Motorcycle leathers to protect from bites, and something with a good heft and point to it. A simple hammer would do. Use the weight of it to knock ol' zack back, drive the narrowest point into the forebrain. Use goggles and facial protection to minimize risk of infection, and scrub up afterwards ASAP.
Better yet, keep at a distance, or don't engage at all. And only fight solo as a last resort, you could easily be overwhelmed during the fracas.
Auntie Z's tip: If the gloves are good for heavy duty work, from stoking steam engine fires to preventing animal bites, it'll afford you some protection.
Auntie Z's tip: Working in pairs, sweep and spike. Have one taking the zack out by the legs, with the other keeping watch, then switch roles to deliver the final blow.
Auntie Z's tip: Breaking and Entering, even in the zombie apocalypse, is a good way to get yourself:
Shot by the property owner
Shot by looters
Shot by Law Enforcement Officers
Play it safe, break into zed skulls, not homes. Get supplies now, for whatever emergency might fall upon you, be it natural, man-made, or a zombie/robot uprising.
So Sayeth Auntie Z, prepper, health and safety aficionado + fan of Apocalyptic Fiction. -

Hang on... slight... slight headache. Think I need to sneeze.
Aa... aaaah..... aaaah..... ACHOOO!
Sorry, rage makes me sneeze. :<
(Other than that, I'm really looking forward to this pack, and it will definitely be a day one purchase. I just want more awesome female jackets. ... And maybe the curled hair sans hat) -
Quote:Female characters have Sneakers, with the option of Sneakers with Socks (One colour does Sneakers, the other does Socks) and Sneakers without Socks (One colour does sneakers, other does nothing)I'm already using sneakers without socks on my main. So what's the suggestion exactly?
Male and Huge characters just get the Sneakers option, which means if you were to make a shorts wearing Male or Huge character, they would have knee high socks on.
One of the many costume option differences between gender that I hate and wish they would resolve. -
Quote:Signed like an autograph. Do want.It would be really nice if we got to do this now. Preatoria is okay and all, but sometimes you wanna start in the old zones.
Epic AT's can be exempt from this.
Sometimes I go "Great idea for a hero!" and then I realise I'll either have to go through Praetoria or the Isles till 20, and the characters aren't supposed to be Praetorian or so on. -
Little bug I've noticed:
Dual Pistols Blasters: I can't seem to toggle Incendiary Ammo on, the other two work, Incendiary just won't click. Tried this is 4, 3 and 2 column view modes.
Dual Pistols Defenders: There is no Incendiary Ammo button.
It does however, work with Dual Pistols Corruptors. -
Quote:I just checked Regen out now. 1 SO in Fast Healing, 1 in Health, 3 in Intergration: 498% RegenZ, my brain called. It wants you to remove your [Hivemind] cluster. It just needs the space. Because the ideas are all /signed
With 3 Heal, 3 Recharge in IH: 1488% Regen, but only for 90 seconds, with a recharge of 650 seconds brought down to 333.45 seconds (245.35 seconds with Hasten)
Willpower, same slotting, with 3 Heal SO's in Rise to the Challenge:
0 Enemies: 253% 1 : 497% 2: 546% 3: 594% 4: 643% 5: 692% 6: 741% 7: 789% 8: 838% 9: 887% 10: 936%
Meanwhile, Willpower gets Auto Res +all and HP, S/L/Psi Res, Psi Def, Foe -To Hit, +Per and S/L/F/C/En/Neg Def, a rez every 300s that also buffs recovery, damage, to hit and recharge (but a 45 second damage/to hit debuff after 90 seconds), and a Res/Rec/Mez t9.
Regen is to Willpower what Super Reflexes is to Shield Defence, sadly. -
Damn Matt Smith's trembling bottom lip. Damn it.
-
Energy Melee + Energy Manipulation's 'Stun':
Give it the Clobber/Cobra Strike treatment, to up the damage it does.
-
Regeneration:
A WP character can out-regen a Regen with a certain number of enemies in proximity. Regens have to use a 600 second recharge click power to get ahead, that lasts for only 90 seconds. It also has very little mitigation other than heaiing.
Give Reconstruction the 40 second recharge of Fire's Healing Flames, than it's current 60 second one.
Give Resilience Res to All and +Max HP.
Bring IH's recharge time down to... 450 seconds? 400?
Give Quick Recovery a small +Recharge bonus (a la SR's Quickness and EA's Lightning Reflexes) to distinguish it from WP's Quick Recovery.
Maybe tweak Fast Healing a little, to give a chance for healing as well as the regen component.
-
Traps/Devices 'Time Bomb'
What about giving it the SoA's 'Omega Manoeuvre' treatment, where it is placed to attract enemies to it as it counts down, before exploding.

Quote:One thing I noticed after the forums merged... I was expecting a huge influx of threads from Virtue and sundary other servers, but it never really happened. It seems like us Euro types use the forums a lot while across the Pond it's more in-game (I assume).
That's a good point, actually.
As I recall, the original RP threads were in the Union Forum, because back then the EU boards did not have a Roleplaying Forum, just a creative board. The thread that lead to the events that created the 9pm @ GG Thread was there, and any fiction written went in Creative.
When the EU boards gained the new forum subsections, we had threads moved from Creative and Union to the new Roleplaying section, and as Union was the unofficial RPing server, and the highest concentration of them at that, we developed our own methods of doing things, with heavy forum use. Our in game chatrooms on Global Chat worked more to remove OOC from the Local chat.
When the board merge happened, we continued to use the Roleplaying board the same as we always did, and as we can see today from the first page, we have these EU-centric/EU-Player made topics:
Handbook of the Union Universe, An Introduction to Union Roleplay, Roleplaying Supergroups, Roleplayer's guide to plotting, hints, tips and tricks for new RP'ers, this thread, IC story thread, GG thread, Pocket D thread, Liberty Force, Praetorian Surge (Fiction and OOC), Name Loss Support + Steampunk.
Open RP thread were also much more rare on the EU boards compared to the US ones when they were separate. What EU Open RP threads there were tended to be for events rather than ongoing story. We've seen things a little more mixed now, such as with The Crossing.
Rather fascinating, isn't it? Would love to hear the counterpoint to this progression, of how things were US side pre-forum merger. -
Quote:The wrong side :P It's still an American city. (Which is why early EU beta calls to replace the US flag with an EU one were laughed at.)Forget about the global channels, I just want to know which side of the road cars drive on the Union server.
As for a thread for open channels, that is a grand idea. -
Hello, dear roleplaying tourists! So, you're thinking of visiting Union, the EU's unofficial RP server since 2005?
Welcome, then! We're glad to have you visit, and if you decide on settling, that's excellent news! We hope you enjoy your time here however brief or long! Feel free to join the OOC channels 'Union Roleplayers' and 'GGOOC'. They're great ways to get information, get to know people, chatter about the game, life and other such things, and we've got some great people who run teams there. And yes, you can find out where RP is happening too, or try to stoke up some interest for it.
It's a little mad at times, it sometimes gets a little heated, but we're passionate, and that's what happens when passions clash. Still, it's rare that everything blows up, so it should be fine! If you're looking for laughs, RP, teaming and a good time with a veritable feast of people, this is the right place!
Welcome to Union. I hope you have a ball. -
Quote:Paragon's a pretty good name I think. Short, snappy, meaningful. So Paragon Studios want to make a sequel to the highly successful City of Heroes, but it doesn't simply want to make a sequel, it wants to raise the bar by creating a whole new game that eclipses and improves on everything that they have done before. So they have decided to come up with an entirely new name for the project and drop "City of Heroes 2".
I think it will simply be called "Paragon". (You heard it here first!)
If you had a choose a new name for this (hypothetical, of course) revolutionary new comic book themed game, what would you name it?
(Edited to bold "hypothetical")
I don't think I could top that. -
I saw about the same increase in ping, but a marked decrease to the number of packets lost and dropped.
-
Quote:The European Servers used to be in a data center in Germany, they were moved over to where the over servers live a while back. If the West Coast servers give you issues, then it's likely that the West Coast is where the four EU servers were put. Would seem consistent with the ping times you have noticed.I live in Eastern Europe, and I refused to make the move to the EU version of the game when that came out despite much conversion. Because I'm an ocean away from the US servers, I usually see quite a bit of ping time on my end, usually upwards of 250ms. As such, I've limited my character-making to only the East Coast servers, as trying to play on the West Coast servers slaps an extra 100ms of ping on me, so I'm looking at something on the order of 350 ping and above at most times. Right around there is where ping delay starts to get noticeable and grating for me.
So now we have the European servers added to the list, and though I seem to recall hearing that those were actually not in Europe, I still kind of hoped that they'd give me better ping, or at least NOT WORSE ping. Well, I just made a test character on Defiant and I'm seeing anywhere between 320 and 350 ping, and this is not something I want to play with. Is there something I'm not aware of, or am I simply not going to be able to play on the former European servers? -
The new Launcher (That's the NC Launcher) updates your games much more quickly, and applies patches faster as well.
The NC Launcher can be found here: http://us.ncsoft.com/en/launcher/ncsoft-launcher.html
You also get the Wisps aura for using it. -
Quote:Pretty similar. It's been interesting talking with American players, and teaming with them, but... the server things? I've spent 6 years on Union. I can hardly see me moving from there. The character slots thing? 120 slots aren't useful to me if I can't have them on Union. Even 12 or 24 more slots there would be nice.Yeah, I'd celebrate too, then.
As it is, I got nothing. Except losing the global I've had since globals were launched, probably to an inactive account. Obviously, that makes me unhappy, but I'll live. No cause for gleeful celebration though. The merge is not something I wanted and, actually, I don't see anything good coming of it.
The name thing is pretty important to some people. A is A, and Dante is Dante, even if he is now something else because we were merged. I'll likely still call him Dante, still call Ravenswing Ravenswing, so on and so forth.
Hell, I'm Z away from the game and forums. I've been called Z and Zortel at gaming conventions, meet ups of friends, wedding receptions...
If the GSA is benefiting you now, hurrah! The real pay-off has yet to be seen.
Wait... Global Server Access... GSA... Genetic Security Agency... Paragon Studios is Genomex! Run, New Mutants, Run! -
Current Synergy Gaps in Hero EPP's (That currently are represented in other power pools):
Scrappers:
Electric Mastery
Blasters:
Psychic Mastery
Controllers:
Electric Mastery
Defender:
Ice Mastery
Tanker:
Electric Mastery
Dark Mastery
Ones I would like to see:
Scrappers:
Kinetic Mastery, a set that carries on the look already present in Kinetic Melee, with an AoE bolt (Like Focused Burst that delivers a Targetted AoE of Burst) a self buff of something neat (Maybe Speed/REcharge, a Quickness Lite?), a scrappery version of Siphon Power and Siphon Speed, and maybe a stunning Cone AoE?
Spines Mastery, with Spines version of Fling Thorns, Thornatrops, Thorn Barrage, and two other things.
Blaster:
Archery, Sonic, Radiation and Pistols Mastery.
My brain has turned to mush now, but these sets would also find place in the Villain power pool choices. -
I've tried everything, but the slots just won't go to Union! I've coaxed them with chocolate, little teddy bears, kittens, but they stay on their own servers and don't add their emptiness to my 36-character filled server of choice. :<

Any thoughts yet on as to whether we're going to focus the attack in fiction taking place in Atlas and Peregrine only, or maybe expanding it a little?
-
A laggy mess that I've logged out of. Just not fun, waiting up many magnitudes of time than usual for my powers to come back up. And this was in Peregrine Island, rather than the chock-a-block full Atlas Park.
