Quote:excellent use of the word "boni"Thanks for the kind words.
Manny, that is exactly what I was trying to encourage with this guide. I hope you enjoy your tankers as much as I do mine.
Fulmens, your quite correct, but for a intro to AT guide I had to keep it very general. covering the high points of building a wad of cash and/or spending it most efficiently is easily a guide unto itself. Even if limited to the one AT. The more tanks I level the less the build cost worries me. I think it is because you have a better feel for how much bonus is "enough" and don't waste billions on IO boni that do almost nothing in actual game play. -
i think the ability to email inf will increase prices on just about everything, as long as there is something to buy. People will say "hey, I've only got 10mm on this toon and that's not enough to buy what I want. I'll send some over from one of my 50s"
-
Quote:I agree with you , but then again, we have marketers using up a valuable slot with a "pointless" bid. I sometimes do this, but I put in a way low-ball bid. I need to get paid for my time.Bingo.
If you want them, bid on them so sellers know there is an interest and at least make it a decent bid.
People who use the market don't generally waste their time and slots on "garbage". Casual players may, but it sucks to put something useful up for trade and nothing transacts over a two month period. -
Nice!!!! Everyone talks about inflation, but very few people actively burn inf (i.e., take it completely out of circulation) like this. You have inspired me. I'm going back to one of my old money-losing schemes because of it!

Quote:Why in the world do they go for 75k, when components go for a fraction of that.I'd agree with this. At 75k you'll get 1.5 mill for every 20 you sell. Use that 20 on a random roll and odds are you'll get salvage that will sell for 2-5 million. The down side is that you might get a low level piece, and those sell for much less. Still, the odds are in your favor as there are only 12 pieces of rare low level, and 24 pieces of rare mid and high level.
Oops did I say that out loud? -

I did not like the introduction of MA, much like I did not like the introduction of PvP, namely because it put the burden of content creation on the paying subscribers, and that's just plain lazy. Hire good arc creators, or give them 3 months free game time, but don't just say "make up your own adventures." That said, reality television is extremely popular, so who am I to judge...
Anyhoo, personally I'd be fine with removing XP from MA. I use it primarily to take out 50s for a spin and see some content I've never seen before. I'd appreciate a better search interface. I'm not sure how the drop rates with tickets correspond to drop rates in regular missions, but they are a bit less random and the ability to pick your range gets you drops you could not get otherwise on a 50 short of Ouro. -
Most profitable would be to convert to random rares, in my opinion. I've been making a good living buying up base salvage and converting twice, so converting once should be ok as well.
I've noticed a lot more flux around rare prices lately, so you can usually get off your high sales. I'm surprised no one has tried to lock down the positronic matrix market, since I think there are only a handful available on the market. -
Back to OP, I suspect that the main change coming to the markets is an interface that lets you sort crafted enhancements more efficiently. There may be a "bid across a range" change, but I hope not.

Normally I don't store much salvage, but since I've been on a crafting binge lately I'll pick up blocks of 10 of whatever I think I'll need and storing it in base rather than on my toon as my recipe orders fill. The exception is mid-level commons, which are so volatile that I try to keep a few on hand (I'm a cheapskate and cannot stand to pay buy it now prices).
For recipes, I vendor commons. For sets I check last 5 prices and if it's worth less than 100k, I'll usually delete it. If it's worth more, then I'll check the crafted price and see what turnover looks like. I used to craft everything "valuable" but if the turnover on the crafted is much lower than on the recipe, I'll just sell the recipe in order to clear up the market slot more quickly.
Generally, when I need something, I'll bid on ten of them at what I think is a "sell it now" price and play another toon for awhile. Generally, by the time I get back, I've bought a few of the items, I use the one I need and post the others at a "buy it now" price. Usually buying three and selling two breaks me even. -
Quote:Well, we already have a price cap of 2bn, why not offer everything in your store for 2bn?I'm not talking about removing the Market. I'm saying leave the Market as is and add a Store that has everything for sell. The price of items in the store would be set so that they would be the "cap" for that item. You could still sell stuff for a profit on the market, but it would make no sense to list anything above the store prices.

Quote:If you go to PMs let me know so I can sell my popcorn futures. If you wanted this to go to pms you could have started with the above post your actions refute your statements.
As for the rest I am still waiting for you to say where external changes in the game stop being changes in the status quo of the market.
Please dissect the above word by word making the claim of lack of reading comprehension after each one again -
If you were buying 10 @ 2bn apiece, I'd be slightly more impressed. I'm pretty impressed already, by the way.

Quote:I would burn it for my SuperEbil(tm) badge. This makes me wonder - what is the practical limit of wealth in this game, given the 2 billion inf limit per toon?
Can anyone hold on to a trillion influence?
If you can save 2 billion inf in every WW slot and you have 30 toons with 17 slots, thats somewhat over a trillion, but very impractical.
How would you store your trillion and has anyone made one yet? -
Quote:ha! nicely done!Well to me 1 billion is still a lot of Inf. I've been playing off and on for 3 years. Never before had I acquired more than 600 mil or so. I don't play the market. I don't hoard my inf. I spend it. It is play money after all.
I came back to the game after a forced 6 month absence (PC issues). The beginning of Double XP was my first day back and within 2 weeks of selling my drops I picked up 1 billion. An astronomical amount to me. The character I was using is pretty much IO'd out so I wasn't worried about spending it so I shot for 2 Bil. Today I hit that mark.
I know that to those who play the market 2 Billion seems like pocket change. To some of us it's still a special little milestone.

LOL
1bn IS a lot of influence. I'm not sure if I've ever had over 1bn liquid inf on a toon, since I tend to reinvest it in a lot of stuff. I suspect I'd come out over Fat Cat and well under Ebil(TM) once I liquidate. -
My search comment on a few toons is "not looking. leave me alone." and I still get invites. I profusely thank those who send tells first saying, "I know u said ur not looking, but are u looking for a team?"
No means no, people. Don't make me go hidden! -

"I hear you Fulmens. In your honor, I think there should be a vendor in Pocket D whose only purpose is to dispose of inf for badges
10,000,000 -- Spendthrift -- Keep that inf coming
100,000,000 -- Profligate -- You put the "disposable" into "disposable income"
1,000,000,000 -- Big Spender -- Spend a little time with me
10,000,000,000 -- Fat Cat -- You're rolling in it and you don't care who knows it
100,000,000,000 -- Ebil -- Your ability to amass and dispose of inf is unparalleled. You are truly Ebil(tm) "
I'd say that 10bn is pretty impressive and I'd like to see someone burn 100bn. If Smurphy is willing to buy story arcs for 20bn, I'm betting he/she has a couple more tens of bns tucked away. -
Of course! If I'm going to give up a slot for selling a recipe redside, I need to get 8 figures out of it.
-
Quote:The problem, as I'm sure has been hashed to death on these boards, is that for every buyer there must be a seller. I delete snipe recipes on sight redside, because I have better use of my time and slots than to put them on the market. I feel that most redsiders feel the same way.Yep. It took me about 3 weeks just to get a full SNIPER ATTACK set. Last time I did that blue side, it took me a matter of minutes. All the pieces were there at reasonable prices (hundreds of thousands at most).
I can't explain why blue siders waste market slots on selling snipes -
Quote:I heard that they are raising the fee to 13.5% so Back Alley Brawler can now pay for the health care for his servants at his island retreat...*sigh* While the basic premise of listing at one inf so it sell immediately is not wrong, the second part of your statement is completely and utterly wrong. You are not saving ANY inf by listing for 1, you are simply shifting when you have to pay it.
When you list an item you pay 5% of the price as a listing fee. When you sell an item you have to pay 10% of the sale price as a sale fee. BUT the inf you already paid as the listing fee is subtracted from the sale fee.
For example, lets say I list a widget for 50million but it sells for 70million. I would pay a 2.5million listing fee (50mill * 5%). When it sells I would pay an additional 4.5million (70million * 10% - 2.5million), my total fees would be 7million. Now suppose I instead listed it at 1inf but it still sold for 70million. I would pay a 5inf listing fee and when it sold I would pay an additional 6999995 inf (70million * 10% - 5) and my total fees would still be 7million. -

In which case, you do that instead of converting. However, supply of lvl 20 miracles are rare as hen's teeth, and some people may be willing to pay 200mm to have their lvl 40 converted now without waiting for someone to post one.
At 1mm per level, every single miracle/lotg/etc. will be bought, converted to their lowest level, and raised to a higher price. Buy every Miracle 40 at 150mm, convert for 20mm and list at 300mm? Sure. Then we have the same supply issue as today instead of it being one modal point at 40, it is bimodal to 20,40.
Make it really expensive to convert levels and you will get the big spenders coughing up the cash to tweak out their builds. It's not to hard to replace a lvl 39 Trap of the Hunter with a lvl 50 or vice versa, so a 1mm/level cost would already put it out of the price range of most sets.
Very interesting idea, and I would not be surprised if at some point it was instituted for a minimal cost (under 1mm), but I'd prefer it to be onerous.
