Adeon: If you have a damage set with debuffs you are going to be debuffing while you are actively trying to deal damage, unless you take a set without any. The difference here is that when I build a defender I try to take a set that has debuffs, rather than a pure damage set like archery.
Quote:Wow! What a shock, if only I had mentioned th--Last I checked Assault Rifle isn't big on debuffs. Ya take it for the damage.
Haha, oh wait.
If I want to have a support character that deals gobs of damage I'll roll up an Ill/Cold (or Rad) or some sort of Corruptor. I take my attacks, I use them, I slot them as an attack, but I pick the sets for the debuffs over the damage output. -
Quote:I gave up halfway through the thread so I don't know if this was covered, but...I've ran plenty of times with and without an emp, and just like when i run with a FF or cold, i expect buffs first, damage second. If i wanted a damage character, i'd invite a blaster or dominator to the team. When i invite an emp (or really any buffing powerset) i expect buffs first.
You don't take defender blasts for the damage, you take them for the debuffs.
There are a few sets that are negligible for debuffing, but between those that have significant debuffs you are offered: -RES, -To-Hit, -DEF (lol), -RECH, -Speed, -END, and some sets offer options for control. -
Not to be rude, but I was looking for PVE input. I'm not sure where you got the idea that I was PVPing on this character or even looking to do so, especially given the lack of +per bonuses, stealth and that I wasn't going to take a travel power initially.
-
I ran multiple BAFs and Lambdas last night. The BAF lag was excruciating. It made MSR during peak hours on weekends seem tame. Lambda was perfect, zero power lag and other issues. I've been crashing more on zoning recently, though.

Does this work in Incendiary Swarm Missiles from Bots? It might make up for them breaking the power back when they fixed burn!
-
This is the Kat/Inv I came up with after chatting with Elegost for a while last night.
Original goals:
Softcap without DA (sort of met)
Complete optimal chain (GC>SD>GC>GD, I think?) with no gaps. (met)
Capped HP (met)
I haven't played /Inv on scrappers in a while and wasn't sure how lofty it was to cap SLFCEN w/ 1 on them. Apparently, too lofty for this set up. I instead went for 1 small purple w/ 1 and capped w/ saturation, which I met.
I believe there is enough recharge to run the above chain seamlessly.
HP is capped with perma-DP and accolades without any set bonuses required. Unfortunately, there are some set bonuses for HP present, but I couldn't really get around them.
Things I could change off the top of my head:
Drop Hibernate, Spout, travel power mule.
Pick up Caltrops, Stimulant, Aid Self
Put in a 3% DEF PVP IO*
*Okay, so basically, if I spent the 2b on this I could really rework a lot of slotting and maintain the numbers above. I'd gain back slots from brawl, could change an aegis set out, possibly drop the kincoms, etc.
For Incarnate slots:
Alpha - Spiritual Core T4
Interface - 75% fire proc 25% res
Destiny - Ageless core (very important, see light recovery slotting)
Judgment - Ion or Void depending on theme. I like the -50% damage debuff in Void, though.
Lore - Cheatworks.
Questions:
I haven't played */Inv in a while, as I said. How survivable will this be in trials? My current main is a Warshade so I do not notice exotic damage types.
Would another set (NOT SR NOT SR NOT SR) suit my goals of Kat without DA better? I really like the perma capped HP.

Thank you. I'll just fit another power in elsewhere, never was big on Unstoppable anyway! Guess it's a travel power mule for Slow RES.
-
Putting together a Kat/Inv build. With Ageless I don't see the need to take Body Mastery, so I'm considering picking up Levi pool for Water Spout & Hibernate. I normally skip Unstoppable since I hate the crash, but will popping Hibernate at the last moment negate the crash?
If not, I'll probably just take Vengeance over Unstoppable. My other pool consideration was weapons for just proccing caltrops and stacking them under AVs.
EDIT: Actually, with consideration that the build already has 5 spots for lotg rechgs, I could just pick up a travel power and put a slow RES IO in it. -
-
Wonderful insight, thank you! I was fairly sure I'd be going with Spiritual, as I'm not too interested in spending billions in purples. The confuse set is cheap enough to justify it. It also means I have a crazy heal of 55% on a 16s recharge.
Overall I'm happy with the way this came out, it isn't incredibly expensive (a-merits, ho!). I just need to get it up and put it together. -
Thumbs up from me. I've played on and off since the beginning (clearly, not with this account), and while I love the variety in character building, my issue was that once an IO build was done, the character was 'done' unless I wanted badges. Now I have something more to do with them, and I like that.
Quote:I just came back from a hiatus of about, I don't know, three months or so. I jumped on my WS and got into a trial in about five minutes the first day back. I can't recall who the leader was, but they gave a good explanation to me and basic instructions. I did my job, I got a v.rare, and I was happy. There was no anger or yelling involved, I said I was clueless and people gave me the low-down.Plus, if you leave the game for a period of two weeks.. you are out of the picture for learning the new content. People are using short-forms and speeding everything, and if you have no idea what to do.. you get sworn at and told you are a n00b for not following instructions when barely any were given. ::cough cough:: THAT game much?
But, I try to stick with people from the global channels, friends or their friends. I've run like, four trials with Zatch3 that went nicely, for example. I'll hop on his stuff any time I see it advertised and I'm not in one.
Quote:Now the bit I don't like. When the game first came out, and all the way up until about Issue 11, there was a fairly low power level ceiling. Sure, you could always tweak builds and choose certain powersets to be a bit better than the average player, but the difference between an average, low-time-investment L50 and a min-max, tons-of-hours-invested L50 was pretty low. The benefit to this was that players who didn't play much were more-or-less on par with those that did, at least if you compared only one character at a time. Those that did play a lot tended to end up with a lot of different characters.
Ever since the introduction of purple IO sets, and especially now with Incarnate powers, the game has been heading away from that. Now the power level ceiling is extremely high. The difference between a L50 with non-IO build, a L50 with a IO-set-backed build, and a L50 with high-end IOs plus Incarnate powers is huge. Those who play a lot mostly have fewer characters which are at higher power levels, and those who play less don't reach those higher power levels at all.
On the subject of power level ceiling, I'm sorry, I've got to disagree with that. This stuff isn't overly hard to get, and while it is very powerful, it isn't an unobtainable goal for players. Compared to a number of other MMOs where the power ceiling is very high, or infinite, the power ceiling is accessible here.
Mabinogi and EVE Online are wonderful examples. EVE can be a nightmare to start in on as a new player without a massive corp to back you up. Why? Because you're going against other players with fully developed skills that took much time to obtain. Mabinogi is even worse than EVE. If you missed a week of play in that game, you're now behind the curve of those who didn't. Mabinogi has a near infinite power ceiling that can only be obtained with years of investment and constant play. These are extreme examples, but my point is that while it may seem daunting from the perspective of a long time COH player, compared to what else is available on the market, this game is accessible. I'd say more accessible than ever, with a-merits and such added. -
Put this together a bit ago after being inspired to try one. Thanks due in part to Microcosm's guide.
Highlights:
Positions capped.
143.8% recharge w/ hasten going (10s down time)
2.56/s end recovery after toggles.
95% acc on all powers vs +4s
Do I have enough recharge to run CI>CB>JL>CB? It looks like I don't, but it also appears Spiritual would fix it.
For other Incarnate slots:
Warworks Pet, Void w/ -50% dam debuff, Interface w/ 75% proc, don't know what to take with Destiny.

I've recently come back due to finding free time and did my first BAF/Lambda last night on the WS. Fun stuff. I'd love to get in on these, Hew. Warshade is 50+1 and fully IO'd, no other slots unlocked.
Also, that awesome BAF i did last night got me everything but Keep 'em Separated and I'd love that if it's not being too selfish. -
I've got a lot of personal stuff going on in my life that has cropped up over the past week and has no predictable end. Have barely been able to log in and play anything at all.
So, unfortunately, I'm going to drop out of this one. Maybe next Isos I'll join in if I have a consistent chunk of free time. I was really looking forward to this, too.
Good luck and have fun, folks! -
Just found out this morning that my aunt and uncle are in town, and they're taking us out to dinner tonight. Will miss most of Isos tonight, plan on playing catch up later this week.

Quote:I've got my 'final', currently live build on the Kheld boards. You commented on the non-final build in the past, but not sure about the current one. I updated the OP in my thread to reflect the one I run in game.Hrmm, I haven't experienced that, not that I bring people along often. I believe that thing about AE was changed; I remember reading something about it and I definitely remember inviting someone while inside an AE mission.
You can actually get some good defense numbers and still have your recharge with the very rare spiritual alpha. But WS defense builds are also really easy to mess up if you are not super comfortable with your powers and the dance. +HP will serve you well, though.
I will do some tweaking and see what I can do. My concern is that the def would all come from set bonuses and not amount to a whole heckuvalot due to not running any defensive toggles.
I'll try the AE thing later. -
From what I was told +X/x8 without bosses turned on will spawn bosses as soon as you bring a second person into the team (unless the mission is already open), and since you can't bring an outside person in during an active AE arc...
Also, I can't see building my triform WS for Defense and getting any reasonable return. Do have some HP bonuses already. -
I don't use Gravitic Emanation much in actual play, I was considering swapping that for Inky Aspect with the same slotting. I'd rebind my Alt+Q from just dropping forms to dropping forms and toggling on Inky Aspect.

Quote:http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Attack...Streak_BreakerThanks to Combo Breaker (certainty to get hit after x amount of deflects) he will get hit
See this bit: 0 -.2 : 100
From my understanding, they'd have to miss 100 times before the streak breaker will force them to hit. (0 - .2 is 0-20% chance, iirc)
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm not, and something that isn't an AV has made 100 attack rolls, you are afk or something is wrong. -
Quote:Quantums are easy. Run up in stealth and Gravity Well for a hold and chunk of damage. They are not dangerous after the first few levels, IMO.Re: The MFing Warshade. I just can't stand the thought of finding a Quantum on one my levels and getting destroyed. I also quite like builds to have perma hasten, and this doesn't seem achievable on a WS.
I find my Warshade (post-eclipse) very, very solo friendly. I can run the common farms, including +0/x8 fire ambush with bosses. I have yet to try +2/x8 without bosses which should be faster/smoother. I can do tips x8 if I cherry pick the groups, also. He's also permahasten, with tier 1 spiritual (without, it was down for about 1.25 seconds or so). There isn't much she can't do, and it's even better on teams. The problem is that the WS takes, at least for me, some time to mature. But the points at which it matures are really game changers.
@Griff: You're just doing your best to summon Dechs, aren't you? Too bad he isn't like the King in Yellow. You know, say his name three times to summon him? Like, 'HASTUR, HASTUR, HASTUR'.

Dear God, what have I done? -
Part of me wants to play Elec/Energy now. Too bad my character slots are tied up and needed for other projects.

Quote:Thank you for confirming my suspicions about no bosses. Darn shame I can't do that with a second person on the team, wouldn't mind farming my alts up via leveling pacts.Generally you will get the best return with your shade out of no bosses. I have farmed with both my SS/Fiya broot and my Warshade... a lot. The Warshade, with enough recharge, puts out more aoe damage, but the brute is able to really whack those single targets between footstomp and burn. I usually do something like +2/x6-8 on the shade. The trick is keeping the aggro on your squid and off of the fluffies. And go with Spiritual Alpha.
How much recharge is enough? My warshade (the build is on the kheld boards) has 171.25% + tier 1 spiritual, hasten being permanently up.
