Captain Mako Week.
At least, that's the only one I can assume direct responsibility for that comes to recent memory. -
-
I'll be around as "phocks" in most games, if you're ever interested in finding me. Playing Guild Wars 2 - the folks at Arenanet are incredible developers, even if the people at NCsoft aren't the brightest. I might give Champions another whirl, but man oh man is it just not quite the same.
Hopefully, someone might have enough love for CoH to maybe their own server, SWG style. It's a long shot, but I can dream, right? -
Really sad right now.
CoH was my first MMO, and is still to this day my absolute favorite. I remember all the excitement and hype back from the old beta forums, the first Rikti invasion, getting a frantic phone call from my best friend telling me he'd gotten into the City of Villains beta, breaking into Atlas Park, all the community run events, seeing Praetoria for the first time and just being amazed that it actually looked like a city...
I always felt like we were some big dysfunctional family here, grouped together by a common love of FREEM and shark captains. I know there won't ever be a game quite like City of Heroes in the near future. Not one that meshes everything just right, and has a great community to boot.
So, thanks everyone. To everyone at Paragon: best of luck wherever you end up. I know any studio would be privileged to have your expertise and experience. You're some of the best devs I know.
To the community: thanks for being continually awesome. I was never a particularly loud voice in it, but I always around. You guys are some of the most dedicated and loyal people I know, and I've made some good friends being here.
Though, if I do get a parting question, what was that "insert Kickstarter URL here" bit for in one of the old coffee talks? Probably getting my hopes up (I know Zwill likes to goof around some), but uh, if there's something you guys wanna tell us... -
Thanks so much for everything you've done, man. From putting up with us, to running the events, to handling our at times... erm... "concerned" reactions over hot issues.
You've done an incredible job, Zwill. And a personal thanks for making my stupid idea of Captain Mako Week a reality.
Gonna miss you, and CoH. Wish there was something we could do, but I know how these situations go.
Best of luck. -

I think it's reasonable for people to express concern over maintaining their current look. As much as I like the change, I wouldn't call it a bug fix. When a majority of the pieces are labeled "done" and put to live servers looking like they were, I have to imagine that was the intended look with the dulled colors. As much better as I think it is now, my taste (or yours, or his, etc) isn't everyone's. An option would be the preferable solution, but barring that I think the fully colored versions are an improvement.
-
I gave some thought to a Seer themed Water/Mental Blaster.
"Drink your Enriche, citizen."
Trouble is, I don't know what color Enriche is. -
I'm quivering with anticipation for this one.

Marauder's smile is kinda creeping me out.

Seeing those "I'm too far away from my mentor" messages...
oh god the horror
Yeah, that's one "feature" Ye Olde CoH can keep. -
Including this one, there's 3 Tuesdays left. One for Nature Affinity (which we'll probably get a direct 1 week notice for), one for the SSA, and one for random stuff on sale that nobody really cares about. Haven't gotten the official 1 week notice yet, so, take your pick I guess.

Slightly unrelated, but I do like the idea of proliferation "passive" powers obtained from taking a given pool power, to all of the existing power pools. Sorcery works a bit like this with the flight/teleport combination. Supposedly it's also a paid set, so it might be a good idea to round out the existing sets with some additional mild utility, lest the whining encroaches.

More specifically, pseudopet summons (which is what LR and Shield Charge are) have a damage cap of 400%. That's 100% base, nearly or more than 100% from enhancements, and full Fury can make up the other 200%. That wastes the potential damage buff from Against All Odds in two of the best powers from the combination.
Scrappers benefit from damage buffs like the one in AaO more since they have higher base damage. Brutes have inherently low base damage because they make up for it with Fury. Scrappers generally won't be brushing up against the damage cap for pseudopets as often. In situations where they are (say, with a kinetics character on the team), they still benefit more from extreme buffing. -
I noticed this too going through EA's power list, and Entropic Aura doesn't list the taunt component, which I found a bit odd. City of Data suggests that for Scrappers and Brutes, the taunt component (and the -recharge on enemies) is supposed to be turned off by a StealthOn flag which is activated by Energy Cloak.
Even though the flag is there for the Brute version as well, it's a tad irrelevant because of the Fury issue mentioned in the thread. For Scrappers though, it should work, or else I don't see much purpose for the flag to be there at all. It might be what keeps the taunt and -recharge components out of the info listing too. I'm not entirely sure taunt auras can be suppressed, since it's been said a few times Stalkers don't get them because of their interference with Hide. Oddly enough, that rule seems to apply to just taunt and not other status effects. -
Well, considering Stalkers have Blaze Mastery and not Heat Mastery, I don't think they would get another fire based APP. Theirs are mirrors of the Scrapper version, who don't give Rise of the Phoenix either since they have it in Fire Armor.

Quote:Personally, I've never been "disappointed" or "angry" or ever in a position where I wasn't happy because there was too much stuff in a game I like to play. I could imagine there being some discontent among the playerbase if they were to release everything that they possibly could (meaning, it's on live servers, waiting to be purchased/unlocked) all at once, and then for months at a time there was nothing to speak of at all. But to the best of my recollection, that really hasn't happened, or if it did, your memory of those complainers was far more vivid than mine.Yea ... I really need to stop caveating things when I know I'm right. Sorry, that actually has been people's response in the past when they've released too many 'good' things too quickly.
And yes, you should work on that.
