I've noticed there is an added 'trickle' option that is very slow. I just click 'download' and it bypasses it and gives me full speed..
Something tells me u've tried this though :P -
That sucks.. Try uninstalling just the ncsoft launcher and then reinstall that to see if that helps any.

Run an internet speed and ping test to rule out your internet as being the problem.
Also, please give pc specific information and drivers when you're looking for help; Cpu, Gpu drivers and stuff like that. -
When it seems like a lost cause something works (trial and error) For a few weeks I've suffered with low FPS. Come to find out it was a bad driver install. I originally had 280.26 drivers and was very frustrated and decided to drop back down to 275.xxish. The game was noticably better. A few days later my brother noticed my drivers were "old" when I wasn't home and updated mine back to the latest 280.26 and the peformance maintained itself.
Have you tried to disable SLI for gameplay to see if that alters anything for your benefit ?
p.s. i don't suffer from drops in frames when exiting buildings etc

Thank you for such considerable and informative information.
I didn't know what settings to choose with the Heaven Benchmark. I don't think I can upload the jpeg with the actual results so I'll type them in.
OPENGL
FPS 56.3
Scores 1418
Min FPS 16.8 Max 111.5 1600x900 Windowed Mode 4xAA, Shaders-High, Textures-High, Filter-Trilinear, AF-4x

The GPU usage meter from gpuz was mostly @ 98%, it did go as low as 96% once. Inbetween scenes the gpu usage dropped for a second or two when no visual was displaying. But was always at least 96% during the actual visuals.
Also, temp topped off at 79degrees celcius w/stock cooling. -
Please run the appropriate speed test and http://www.speedtest.net and list your results here.
THanks. -
I took your suggestion. GPUZ gives the same % for usage, but as you say the other has been known to cause problems.
What is causing my GPU usage to be low in the 40's and is this ever normal or common ?
If anyone can, please try and explain gpu-useage in general w/ this game. Is 99% ideal in CoX ? Is a dip in the 40's ever normal? Does this always mean a bottleneck?
Thanks so very much. -
Hello Community,
I'm trying to understand game performance and gpu usage in general and in particular with this game.
I currently have a gtx 580 coupled with an i5 cpu overclocked to 4.0ghz and notice that I lag considerably when gpu usage dips from the high 90%'s to 40's-50's.
Does the usage only dip when theres a bottleneck present ? What could be causing this ? -
Hi,
I'm very interested in performance within CoX, specifically with the trials having been introduced as of recent. Chiefly "BAFs"
Would anyone mind listing their average frames per second for these trials? I only ask that you leave certain specific info on your hardware/s as this may help others in the end.

i5 750 - 4.0Ghz
DDR3 2000mhz
stock gtx 580
BAF 60-30fps, very close to Nightstar and Siege I'll drop to about 27fps
Ultra settings on FSAA 2x AF 4x
Thanks in advance. -
The first thing that came to my simple mind was your cpu frequency. Do you have any Overclock on your i7 920? With my i5 cpu I've noticed a huge jump in performance from stock to 4.0ghz in CoX. ( I have one Gtx 580) Also, have you tried running your system and game with just one card on too?
-
I uninstalled the new ncsoft launcher without uninstalling the game. Then I reinstalled just the launcher, let it update and I'm able to access the game again.

I spoke to the lead Alien and he recommends that you upppercut yourself and take that 3rd memory stick and melt it down into an aluminum hat to wear immediately.
This will solve all your problems.. Simple fix. -
Yep, it'll play it.
If you have a "common" sized gaming monitor 22" + I'd get a much more powerful card for sure though.
It's paramount to balance your Power supply + CPU + Ram + Video card when considering gaming.
Good luck -
There is one issue with lag for me in BAF. The 'Escapee' part.. Other than that I do not suffer from LEAGUE LAG- even w/ most Ultra enabled w/ a 24" monitor

Please research DUAL CHANNEL mode for your motherboard and ram.
Example:
If I have 4 sticks of ram that equal 1GB stick each/individually and one goes bad I surely will have 3GB left. Although most pcs will run the 3GB in single channel mode. However, if I remove one more and now use 2 sticks I'll have 2GB in DUAL CHANNEL mode which will raise my FPS considerably in games. WHICH WILL BE SUPERIOR to the 3GB
Matching sticks and the correct DIMM slots are they KEYS to running in channel modes correctly.
Good luck -
With 3 ram sticks that equal 2gb each are you sure you're running in Dual Channel mode?

Have you tried a different driver ? I have a evga 580 and 270.61 often crashed my pc HARD! There is a beta 275.xx that I'm using now and most of my issues have left me.
Most feel 266.85 are /THE/ most stable though- I do feel when the 270 and 275 versions are working they offer a large performance increase so I kept trying to remedy the crashings -
Nvidia drivers 270.61 cause crashes imo. I've done some reading and found that a completely clean install prior to installing them helps some. This may not rule out all errors though, there currently is a beta driver on the nvidia website 275.xx. Try those drivers or 266.58 for the most stable driver.

LOVE THE GAME, BUT PLEASE FIX ur JUNK SERVERS
-
The information you mentioned is limited.
Keeping that in mind I'd still say that a modern win xp pc should accept Sp3 easily. Furthermore, I would do a clean install of Windows until the SP3 was accepted. I'd then do Windows Updates then install the latest drivers for my video card.
After the clean install I'd check the device manager to see if my card was recognized and also through each service pack installation.
(Note: Only adviseable if the card is in fact working properly) -
yes, it's a certainty, permahasten is easily attainable with +recharge based sets

I'm in USA and on a solid and stable broadband connection. 30Mb/s down and 5 Mb/s up
I also use a quad core i5 coupled with a gtx 580 and do not generally suffer lag or power lag on the ITF.
I'm only sending this out to let people know that it's entirely possible to not lag on the ITF in ULTRA settings.
Good luck resolving your issues.
