Horrible Performance
What resolution and Settings have you got enabled?
Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field start to kill framerate... as well as high AA settings.
Resolution: 1920x1080
AA: 4
Ambient Occlusion should be set to high, and I never tweaked Depth of Field.
Could it possibly be an issue with SLI?
Don't be a mindless farm toon, we may need you on a non-soft SF someday. =)
Average "in game" fps can vary alot actually. The new pratorian area is much more graphic intensive, than say an older zone with less detail textures. The difference for me can be almost 15-20 fps. If your not happy with the FPS, start by turning down AO some and see if that helps.
I do run with AO at performance level, as it seems to be the most impact, AA is around 4-8. Higher isn't that much difference visually vs the performance. Oh, and 200 world detail, I like the vistas.
My specs, I7 920 oc to 3.0, 12 gb ram, win 7, and a gtx 460. Since the game wasn't really coded to take full advantage of SLI, only a slight performance gain for 2 cards really.
I am getting terrible framerates in-game...
With ultra settings enabled I get an average of 40 FPS, with them off an average of 60 FPS. My specs: Intel I7 920 Quad 2.6 GHZ 12GB of DDR3 memory. 2 Super-clocked GTX 580's running in SLI. I understand the graphical update may have some performance issues, however this is insane. |
Many games which are not designed to use it will run slower with it enabled. However I wouldn't call 40 fps terrible.
The other thing to watch is your disk performance as lots of paging will kill fps. Make sure you have at least 15% free on yor windows partition and the partition CoX is installed on if that is different. Also try clearing out temp files and then defragging.
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
In my experience of CoH the known laggy graphics combinations are:
FSAA + AO = Having both on and set high can drop your frame rate ~30%.
FSAA 8x ~15%
AO Quality set to Super High Quality ~15%
Try this:
/showfps 1
Tweak the above settings, checking your frame rate.
/showfps 0
And if your performance improves enough save the settings.
Other than this if it's slow powers etc check the netgraph.
