Now that we've seen it, we can say:
A League is simply a way to group separate teams, up to 6 of them into one interface to which a League Leader has special controls.
This League can, as a whole if it wishes, do a Hami Raid which is in an open zone. This League can, as a whole if it wishes, enter an instanced raid, like the CoP.
For some instanced events, like the new BAF, those who sign up for the BAF as individuals, or as separate teams through the Queue/Turnstile will automatically be thrown together into a League as they enter the Trial. Or, a League can first be formed, and then enter the Trial as a whole simply by the Leader entering the Queue/Turnstile.
Could there be an instanced Hami Raid that uses the Queue/Turnstile? Sure. It would have to be coded to become one first, though. Then it could either supplant the open zone one or exist along with it. If that's what you want, let the Devs know.
Remember, the Queue/Turnstile is a separate mechanic from Leagues. A full League, already made, can go through the Turnstile. Individuals who go through a Turnstile wind up in a League in the raid instance. -
If these were the final numbers with no other option, then my reaction would be....
That needs to be prepended to every post in this thread since these aren't Live, nor are they Open Beta, nor are they even Closed Beta numbers. The *pre*-Closed Beta is still in progress and numbers are always in flux. -
Quote:No!Now I'm wondering whether someone could deliberately mess up the raid at its final stage by attacking when they shouldn't.
We don't balance instanced events around what griefers might do. Griefers can ruin any content with any power.
Instead, griefers get kicked. Serial Griefers get /petitioned. Period.
This temper tantrum brought to you by watching my powers get nerfherded and then in some cases actually nerfed because of 'It can be used to grief!'
The new content is designed so as not to need Healer-Tank or any other specific combo. If that's not the case after you actually play-tested it -- instead of this non-sensical arm-chair quarterbacking -- then give your feedback that it's not living up to design goals.Quote:Well it sounds nice in theory, this new content sounds like to me:
PUG turnstile group will create unbalanced teams (oh joy)
We have a SLAP IN THE FACE! Can the comparison to nazis be far behind?Quote:Another slap to Controllers and Dominators will have a significant portion of their powers made useless or negated making them 2nd class citizens once again as there will be a significant portion of the mobs that cannot be controlled.
A Player(s) have to take one for the team and sit out of some of the battles (looks like some kinda dimensional shift power) Oh wait that is the new job for controllers. Starting BTF team need sacrificial lamb! Only controllers/dominators need apply<Sarcasm off>
If you play-tested the BAF tonight, instead of slapping the Devs in the face with your pre-emptive and uninformed complaints, you would see that the non-mezzable critters are one out of ten. The mezzers are definitely needed to deal with the majority of foes.
Umm... the turnstile you dissed above is there to help out low pop servers and people who aren't in guilds.Quote:Low population servers will really be hurt by these type of missions, especially non-prime time.
I dunno this stuff sounds like more of the same of catering to the uber guilds.
Criticism without experiencing it. The definition of ignorance.Quote:Killing 2 AVs within 10 seconds....yea that is going to be easy, and maybe it will be once everyone is tricked out incarnate powers but it sounds like only dedicated professional players will be able to pull this off. Casual TF players can just forget about it. -
I'm certainly not going to walk under any power line with a flock of bulls on it.

Quote:They could link the WST rewards to defeating U'kon Gr'ai.How would they distinguish between who gets the Notice of the Well and who doesn't. Does a person that started the raid 10 minutes before the raid ends gets the Notice and the merits? Also they could have Hamidon as a WST since it is basically the same as far as being an outdoor event that grants shards.
I doubt Hamidon and Mothership Raids will ever be a WST. There are far more TFs/SFs to do. -
Quote:That's exactly what the patch note means. If you look at the wording a "League" is described as a "team of teams" so I suspect that only your personal team of 8 will fuel the Kheldian's buffs the other 5 teams will not.
Powers that affect or affected by *teammates* will still only care about the other 7 members of your *team,* and ignore the rest of the League.
Powers that affect *allies* will affect the whole league (if they meet any other such requirements such as being in range or line of sight).
Also many powers have a limit to how many that can affect. Warburg Missile buffs affect not more than two teams worth of folks (I forget the exact number).
And you can be sure that if we find any power that stacks 48 high and gives us an automatic "I Win" will be immediately 'fixed.' -

Quote:/em facepalm and /em doublefacepalm are both in the game. You just need to be flagged with the AuthBit 'facepalm' to unlock them. So far, there is no known method for a player to have that unlocked. The emote is currently in game, but you can only see it via demo editing. I believe it's MOV EMOTE_FACEPALM, but I'd have to switch computers in order to check.
If I recall correctly, that was one of the last animations Back Alley Brawler did, and he just got fired before it was given an actual emote name. -
Quote:Ah, but does that mean there will be a Trial that requires 48 people to do it? Extrapolating from the first Trial, any future 48-player Trial would probably be set for 24-48 players. And compared to Hami and some other MMOs, 24 is still 'smallish.'And before someone goes "This is not Particular Other Game", it's important to point out they've given us the ability to put together FORTY EIGHT PERSON groupings.
48. You don't set a limit that high unless you're prepared for people to hit it.
The other question that will have to wait on is whether if there is such a monster Trial that requires more than three teams, that such a Trial would be necessary to 'progress' in Incarnacy? Or would doing the smaller one or two team Trials be sufficient?
Given what was said about the solo path, I wouldn't think so. This means that no one will be 'forced' to do the truly big Trials. Just like no one is 'forced' to take out the Grandville Flier. -
Quote:The patch notes have the wrong Costume Change information. The costume change emotes are:Not sure if it's a bug or not but the /cce commands do not use any intuitive translation of the four new cce's.
/cce 0 featherburst
/cce 0 furburst
/cce 0 featherspin
/cce 0 furspin
are all not working. Might want to get those strings changed to avoid the /cce 0 podpeople thing again
Feather Spin: /cce # CCFeatherSpin
Feather Burst: /cce # CCFeatherBurst
Fur Spin: /cce # CCFurSpin
Fur Burst: /cce # CCFurBurst
With # = costume slots 0 - 5
I see the same thing with Feather Burst. I've seen it a few times on Feather Spin, but then it started syncing again.Quote:The Feather Burst costume change emote doesn't sync correctly going from costume to costume. Sometimes the costume will change and then the animation will play, while other times the animation will play, and then a second after the *flash* the costume will switch.
New Costume Change Emotes replaying power up Animations
When I had Hasten running, using the new CCEs cause the Hasten sound FX to play again, which it shouldn't since it's one of the most annoying sounds in the game (and in the top ten requests for "How do I silence...?").
This also happens when zoning: the animation from Hasten and other running buffs (like the Fortune buffs) will replay when zoning. Don't know if that's related to what's happening when activating the CCEs (and this isn't even with changing a model, just 'clothing').
If you can get Hasten to stop replaying with the new CCEs, can you get to also stop replaying when zoning, too? (Thanks!) -
I agree that the ;Savage emote is out of place (unless there's a freebie simian set coming in I120). I would save it for the debut of a simian head and add in looped versions of ;Hiss and ;Sniff.
The feather Costume Changes look great because of the physics of the falling feathers. The fur Costume Changes, however, look mushy grey, more like a dirty water splat. The falling fur is just an animation which doesn't look that good. I realize the physics engine can't do hundreds of falling individual hairs, but maybe clumps of hair, like the ones when getting a hair cut? If it remains just an animation, then it need better animation... have the fur fly up a bit before drifting down.
Beast Run is cool! I like how it *doesn't* have a flip. However, it's mid-air animation is very stilted. Even normal jumping in the game has more fluid and pronounced changes in body position especially when transitioning from going up to going down. I would like to see the body be more lateral than upright in mid-jump. I would also like to see either:
1. On the upflight, a more elongated body that becomes more crouched (knees to chest) on the downflight. IOW, just like how normal jump animation works, only more pronounced. Or...
2. A more 'four-legged' mid gallop pose with the right hand and left leg outstretched and with the left hand and right leg retracted.
Beastly Rage aura is cool! Flea aura... not so much. You made the 'fleas' big so that they can be made out to be bugs, but, they're still not big enough to clearly see that they're bugs. So, they look like the exasperated projectile sweat-drops from the Kathy comic. Color them orange and they look like good lava drops for molten rock characters. But they're nowhere in the same continent as anything resembling 'fleas.' Quite frankly, I can't think of a single way this animation can be salvaged except to rename it 'Fountain Drops' and reshape the 'fleas' into drop shapes so that they can be drops of oil, water, or lava.
If you want 'pests', just take the fly aura and reduce the amount of bugs.
Or, as a substitute, resurrect the dropping feather aura that Wings were supposed to have. Add in a 'shedding' aura with physics hair. -
Quote:Those are not the correct slash commands, nor are they the correct names of the emotes as they are currently appearing the costume change window dropdown menu.
Costume Change
Activate the following animal-themed costume change emotes using the costume change interface, selectable from the main Menu.
Feather Burst (/cce FeatherBurst)
Fur Burst (/cce FurBurst)
Fur Fly (/cce FurFly)
Feather Fly (/cce FeatherFly)
The costume change emotes are:
Feather Spin: /cce # CCFeatherSpin
Feather Burst: /cce # CCFeatherBurst
Fur Spin: /cce # CCFurSpin
Fur Burst: /cce # CCFurBurst
With # = costume slots 0 - 5
For those who edit the quickmenu or popmenus, the Authentification Bit that allows these to unlock is: Authbit AnimalPack
Speaking of the Quick Menu, when will you enable the Costume Change section which exists, works, but is placed in the part of the file such that it doesn't appear on our clients?
More FYI:
New Ninja Icon now in game:
New Beast Run Icon will be:
Beast Run has the same exact mechanical stats as Ninja Run. Just a different movement animation. -
Quote:Is that why Ozone had an anti-TP field in it for so long? The check for in combat actually is checking if you were hit by a hostile power recently. There is a special map-wide power in Ouroboros which technically counts as hostile as the result of a minor unrelated technical limitation. In Issue 20 we made a fix to the limitation and can now flag powers like these as not counting as hits for purposes of things like suppressing Hide or triggering the in combat slotting check and related cooldown. Ouroboros is on our list of places to make this fix, but if you know of other maps that are causing this it is probably the same cause and the same fix, so we would like to know about them. Thanks in advance.
Your bud in the high-powered armor,
Black Scorpion
And is this related to how the use of an Ouroboros TP interrupts other zone TPers such as Pocket-D TPer, Mission TPer, and Base TPer? Cause it would be nice if that got fixed too. Pretty please. -
It means that an all-female league of Martial Artists would be the League of Women Footers.

His so-called 'monthly' letter was a day too early!!!!

It died six years before its inception with the death of all collectible card games that weren't Magic: The Gathering or YuGiOh.

This ain't a Mo..TF, so, don't forget a Shivan, HVAS, and nukes from orbit. You do want that Notice, right?

Quote:Well, with the side-switching of GR, there was a lot of activity in Recluse's Victory for getting the signature NPC of the 'other side' on Virtue a few months ago. We had more than a full team on our side and could have used a League interface to band forces and deal with the gankers on the other side slowing down our acquisition of tasty badgeses.I haven't seen one of those (Multi-team PvP Zone battles) in ages. I rarely see multi PLAYER PVP zone battles. (As in, the last time I ran across someone to actually *fight* - or actually in the zone besides me - was a month ago by now.) Last time I've seen full teams in a PVP zone was... eh, IO farmers. Last time I saw them actually fighting, it had to be pre-I13.
I miss those.

Nope. Not at all. Because the letter explicitly says that there is a path for soloists to access Incarnate abilities. It's not the way you want it to be. It's not ideal for soloists-only. But it is not the case any more that solo-only players are barred from Incarnate progression.

Quote:Well, if the League is truly separate from the LFG/Turnstile; then that means it will be useful for:They specifically mentioned using Leagues for Hami raids, but not the "Turnstile," LFG system. However, I do hope that they can/will implement a way to use both new systems for Hami, CoP, and maybe even Task/Strike Forces.
- Zone Giant Monster hunts
- Coordination of Banners (Deadly Apocalypse)
- Invasions (Rikti and Zombie)
- Hami Raid
- Mothership Raid
- Praetorian Zone Events
- Steel Canyon Fires and Skyway Troll Raves (these really need to be updated to use the Praetorian event tech)
- Cathedral of Pain
- Multi-team PvP Zone battles
- Lord Winter's Realm event
- Costume contests
- etc...

Quote:So, there's now a route for Incarnate powering up that's solo, which is essentially turning all content a level 50 does, solo or teamed, level 50 or exemplared, into a chance to advance Incarnately.I'm really not sure why some people consider it unreasonable for other players to expect the end game - the "stuff to do with your level 50 characters" - to resemble the rest of the game. Seriously, why is this unreasonable?
This isn't like just adding a few TFs and giving team players things to do on the side. This is shifting a 99% solo game into a 100% team game just because it's "end game".
And, there will be other content besides Raids, which, presumably, like 99% of the game, is soloable.
And there's a good probability that sometime later there will be soloable Incarnate-specific content (like Ramiel's arc is).
Is this sufficient?
