Quote:I don't mind that.Basically, the MM personal attacks are like the first three attacks you get for a Blaster or Defender. Then, for the rest of the attacks, you get henchmen that do those. So your nukes and burst damage attacks are being done by your henchmen. You're the foundation doing the little constant low damage attacks all the time.
I just ask that doing piffley damage doesnt cost as much as if I were using a cone and an AoE when its actually two ST attacks. They do so-so damage. So WHY do they cost so much damn endurance?
Answer; there is no good answer. -
Quote:I'm sorry, but;I think the IDF pieces should be for sale for Vanguard Merits, since Vanguard is the organization responsible for dealing with Praetorian invasions.
By that coin, praetorian enemies should drop VMs, too, like Rikti (once you're a member of vanguard, of course).
HELL NO!
They should be instant unlocks for people with GR. End. The Hell. Of.
Arbitary costume unlock limits can go to Hell in a burning handbasket.
Anyway, when do these come out? And how are they viewable atm? -
What Claws said. Also, the latter part of that post makes next to no sense.
-
Hmn, not quite true. They should give the automatons the snazzy new death animations from the Praet Clockwork, or at least something that sparked. Heck, have one or two explode on defeat.
I think once you take something apart you can tell what its made of. Also, even before the 'Error: Input!' generation of automatons, there were always subtle hints. I prefer that to blatant 'funny' stuff. Although the sort of stuff used in Flambeaux's tip missions and whatnot is ok, it just makes me despise her more

Give. Now.

I'm still stunned at how damn long this is taking to come through. -
Quote:Game and reality mechanics versus 'Looking Cool'See. You're okay with this game limitation, but not okay with swinglines?
You're okay with Mercs coming down on repel lines from no where?
You're okay with manholes appearing in office buildings so Thugs can enter?
You're okay with the Fire Blaster throwing a Fire Blast, that doesn't hurt any nearby players?
You're okay with weapons appearing out of thin air?
But swinglines to nowhere is the gamebreaker? o.O
That all said, if it's a game limitation. Okay.
But the condition that it would be a swingline to nowhere, as being the problem with the power, just seems odd.
And yes, I'm about 95% sure it was cited by a dev as being 'bloody hard to make work right'. I mean, stuff with physics enabled lines seems to be a pain (whips, anyone?) and this engine is pretty damn old.
Really, given all the hassle both code wise and possibly legal wise (thank you, Marvel...) it comes down to a case of 'is it worth it?' The answer seems to be no. -
Quote:Aye, stuff like that works fine. I mean, who wouldn't, as a villain, exploit every possible angle you could? This is why I love Eternal Nemesis, the Mender Silos Reveal, and the RWZ arcs.
Those are honest instances where you REALLY see Nemesis pull off an honest plot. Though somewhere in my mind I have an odd feeling that Nemesis himself knows about the memetic mutation about him, and revels in it. He probably loves sometimes tossing out random things to lead everyone on wild goose chases or just watch how badly people wet themselves because they don't know what he's really planning.
Send out a few soldiers who make vague mentions of 'a big plan/operation/order', they get arrested, set up a few buildings full or automatons and watch people $h*t bricks as they scramble like chickens with their heads cut off.
But when it comes to stuff actually getting in his way and wanting to execute bigger plans, I'd expect the sort of brutal efficiency and cold, logical execution. Not goofing around with automatons that click and whir and have errors. -
Ma'am, you are under arrest. Step away from the keyboard, and keep your hands in the air. The charges are fanfic writing, slashfic, illegal pairing, aiming to disturb, mental corruption and overuse of winkies. Anything you say will be noted and held against you in court. Get in the car. That is an order.

Building on what others have said, I kinda find the forced dialogue between Fusionette, Faultline and some of the Rikti very, very grating. In fact, a LOT of the forced Rikti dialogue actually just...it hacks me off on a creative level. The Rikti are meant to be badass, they are meant to be scary, even a little creepy. They comunicate via a giant hivemind psi network. They shouldnt speak. They shouldnt ever make lame joke comments.
The Freakshow...hmn. Some are ok. Some are, as others pointed out, lame. I kinda like the theme behind Miss Francines Freaks, in that some might actually realise that, y'know, beating other people up is ok...but beating up criminals to save people is actually kinda nicer. I even added them into a bit of Xmas fiction I did, which I was quite happy with.
Joke Nemesis creatively infuriates me. They have this Michaevellian Archvillain who can, at any moment, step out of the shadows and haul on some strings, endangering countless lives on a whim... and then turn him into a joke. I'm not talking about 'Everything is a Nemesis Plot', because people do that about governements and organisations in real life. Its believable. But he should be cold, calculating, the sort of villain who irrevocably believes he is right and you, you silly little child, are wrong. Like when he's talking to Lady Grey in the RWZ diplomacy mission. THAT is spot on. Some other stuff? Less so. Like the automatons....dear god, this guy is a genius, at least credit him with automatons that actually do their damn job. I know it could all be part of a 'He WANTS you to see them!' sorta plot, but even so...it's meh. Very meh.

Quote:Sir, you just made my dayAnd the answer is "very, very, very little". It's extremely difficult to do well, but very easy to use as a crutch to excuse bad writing.
Champions Online does that a lot, and that is far and away the absolute worst thing about that game. And that's coming from someone who rather likes CO.
Get throat cancer, Foxbat...

I salute thee. -
Quote:Well then, I have an entire word doc. page of facepalms and other expressions of my dissatisfaction with idiocy to post with extreme prejudice and gleeYeah, but they don't want to hear that. They'll dismiss it with the usual "Just because the devs said that doesn't make it true." argument or the "They said the same thing about power customisation." whine.

Quote:You, sir, have won *nods*Yeah, OK, next time you leap off of a seventy story building and it takes half of your life off, be sure to explain how it didn't feel super because of that to the normal human who jumped off next to you who's now a fine red paste with chunky bits on the pavement.
I think my eyes rolled so hard it hurt. -

That thread also has my slightly longer counter to why the above 'counter' is unworthy, imo anyway

Et Voila
Many options for powers? Uhm, same could be said for VEATs. Its called taking whats there and expanding on it. Its worked pretty damn good so far.
Costumes available? Have you examined the Rikti in-game and seen just how much diversity there is? Also, again, human/Rikti slot options, for ever slot. Problem solved.
And yes, as the only Rikti EU side (
) I use a Fortunata Build for him. Not perfect, but it works pretty nice for now.
-
Rikti make the most sense to make as the next EAT;
1) Branching storylines, one for Hero and one for Villain, i.e. Traditionalist and Restructurists. Huge scope for unique missions and story
2) Masses of powerset options. Swords, blasts and psionics, not to mention comm officer style portal summons. Maybe something like Gang War but Rikti-fied. Or Monkeys. Evil, evil monkeys.
3) Lots of costume options. Add in the more civilian Rikti options as well as battle armour, along with the choice of Rikti OR Human body options. Dont, for the love of pete, lock it to one slot like the VEATs. That would be stupid.
I can argue this till the cows come home. It just makes sense. -

Quote:No it wouldn't. Because, frankly, if your mates are doing sod all other than buffing and then sitting back, they are doing a little something called 'Doing it Wrong'. I never run into that 'problem' on my Emp/Psi. Why? Because I took attacks and leadership toggles. If everyhone is buffed and no one is dieing then, guess what? I'm attacking. I have Domination from the epic and Will Domination from Psi to mez targets of choice, with WD doing decent damage too....well, to be accurate the emps tend to complain there's nothing for them to do unless something unusual happens) while the rest of the team does stuff
however, you are right, too many people out there like the sets they do have...again, hence the title....
however, it would be nice if future defender primary and controller secondary sets were designed with this in mind
Again, there is nothing wrong with Buff/Debuff sets. The fault is with players not knowing how to balance them with doing other stuff well. -
Quote:Hiss! Mine!BB still does slightly more damage than Blaze on my build, and I've tweaked the colors so the effect is incredible. There is no other Fire Blast power that gives me as much joy to use as BB, just because it looks so cool. Blaze, by contrast, is pretty meh. Sure, it's an excellent power numbers-wise, and it's a huge part of what makes Fire so scary effective, but...it's a bigger version of the Fire Blast power. There's no fanfare or spin or anything sexy on it, whereas BB is a giant SPEAR of light and fire.
And you'll take my LRM Rocket when you pry it from my cold dead hands.
LRM isn't a snipe. It's a portable, crashless nuke with an interupt time
Yeah, BB is a nice power, and its defnitely my favourite of the sniper attacks. But Blaze comes up faster, fires MUCH faster, and is generally better for DPA and DPS. I'm usually not a number cruncher (read; I'm not at all) but if its going to be a power that does high damage but takes 3 seconds to actually wind up, compared to one with marginally less damage that fires in about a second flat and doesnt require avoiding getting hit... I know which one I'll take time after time.
And I still think that Inferno is the king of nearly all moves. Click....everything crashes and burns
I love that huge fireball effect.

What Sam said. I always feel a little pang of dissapointment when using Sniper Rifle on my AR blaster. I feel it should do something pretty horrible to minions and LTs and even phase a Boss. As it is, it just feels kinda...eh.
Blazing Bolt compared to Blaze, now, thats a painful one. Blaze is just a 'You all Die Now' button, and is so much fun to use. BB? Uhm....less so. -
Quote:Using 'Literally' three times in one sentance should be illegal...No you literally cannot nuke every minute. You would literally have to have 200% recharge.
Only the lower end nukes can nuke literally every minute. 100% recharge shaves off half your recharge time. So 6 minutes becomes 3 minutes. Even if you could hit 150% recharge...you would still end up with at least a minute and a half between nukes.
If I have this wrong...please feel free to correct me on it.
Anyway, maybe you can't get it to every minute. But you CAN get it down to every 90 seconds. Sure, I'm looking at a perma-hastened build (which may not even get rolled) but it is doable. If you want evidence I can post the build.
Besides, 90 secs is around the time of RoA/FA/HoB at default. So, for something that does about 3-4x the ammount of damage on that sorta timer? *shrug*
Oh and yes, snipers do suck. If they had their damage doubled they might be worth it. I still take mine, because an attack is an attack after all. But for how situational they are, they really should do the sort of damage you'd expect from a sniper attack. I think the only decent one is Blazing Bolt, and thats because the entire Fire set is awesome in a can.
