Quote:Are our points and tokens etc free now? Cause if so, then I got scammed cuz I paid money this year that is ostensibly being applied to my account to gain the stuff. But if the stuff is free, why are they keeping my money? Or are you mistaken about our subscription benefits being "free"?My free stuff arrives based on confusing and conflicting algorithms! I want my money back!
--NT
And I am still waiting on delivery. While waiting I cannot access the benefits of paying that money. However, if I had not paid them that money and had held on to it until now, I could enjoy the benefits of paying that money at the moment AND over the next several months. Instead I will spend the next several months waiting for the rest of what I purchased months ago to arrive. Thus when the point do finally arrive over the next several months I will acquire less playtime with the items I purchase. -
The thing is that the money I spent, a yearly subscription, which is now being applied to Freedom, was spent in a chunk.
I am receiving less value for that money than if I had held on to it and spent it today.
The decreased value comes, in part, from having less time to enjoy the fruits of that expenditure--I could be playing w/ w/e things from the Store atm if I had not given them the money in advance.
But, because I gave them the money in advance, the amount of time I have to enjoy the items from the store is decreased because I cannot purchase the items for months to come even though I paid for the points to spend before the people who waited until now to pay.
So, annual subscribers are getting less value for their money than those who waited until now to give NCSoft their cash.
I may be mistaken, but I think that this is, in part, what the OP was addressing.

I haven't done any of the new stuff yet. But I know where I will start now.
For hero stories, you can't have a good story w/o a great bad guy. -
Wasn't it on beta server twice?
-
I still don't think it's a question of what "fair" or "right."
Most places make these sorts of policy decisions based on more pragmatic principles. -
Quote:Because once you use something like Street Justice, they can't just re-wrap it and put it back out on the shelves for re-sale?Big places like WalMart can do it with physical inventory because they can absorb the costs of the refunds and/or place items back on shelves.
With electronic media, it's a bit different.
Or because a day or two is all the longer the set is intended to be used anyway, so it's like getting a refund on a concert ticket after the concert has happened?
Or, how exactly is your wal-mart analogy supposed to work? -
tbh, I "own" a lot of stuff i have no idea that I "own" because I bought packs for one or two items in them.
I can't tell you what all costume parts or auras or emotes that I already have.
I have held off spending some money on the PM because it seems I need to engage in a multi-step process to keep myself from making purchasing mistakes in a system that doesn't offer easy access to refunds.
Sure there're work-a-rounds and other stuff. But, I will not be bothered to go through that.
So that leaves us where I can be content with what I have, or the PM can be adjusted to make it more likely that I spend more money. -

Quote:I assume you're right about what you posted.I'm not disagreeing with you, but Sonic Resonance doesn't do any better at resistance debuffs than other sets with also do a number of other things. I suppose on SOs it may, but once you get into an IO build and can double-stack Tar Patch/Sleet/Freezing Rain, other sets are doing just as much -res along with everything else.
Add in outside recharge buffs and those sets can even triple-stack their debuffs, while Sonic Resonance doesn't benefit from recharge boosts in any way other than greater uptime the T9 and perhaps the ability to spread the Siphon to more targets.
I was just pointing out that -res is underrated. I strongly suspect that in a lot of regular game play situations it has a significantly greater impact than +dam when it comes to the, "If you killed things faster, you might not've taken that damage in the first place," assessment. -
Quote:pretty sure that this is untrueOne person says "if you redraw, the rest of the animation goes faster to compensate".
Quote:Another says "nothing changes; redraw is a straight loss to damage".
I am not sure what this means -
How important is or how much of an impact does "deserve" in this instance?
For many customer interactions, deserve has nothing to do with it. The issue is decided on some other criterion/ia. -
Quote:-res is an unsung hero.If you killed things faster, you might not've taken that damage in the first place.
unless I am mistaken
1% applied -res > +1% dam
the +dam % could probably be increased noticeably above 1% and the sentence above would still be true for a number of ATs and builds. -
It does make it harder to figure out where your account stands when compared to a system where all items are accrued on the same date. I am beginning to suspect the reason that this is not as simple as it seems it could be is one of conscious design.
Yet, as they say, one should be cautious attributing to motives to actions that may be adequately explained otherwise.
What is the very good reason for splitting things up so that some of them arrive at the end of the billing period and some arrive at the beginning of the period--give or take--instead of having them arrive on the same day as the bill for the items?
Obviously there must be a very good reason for doing it, or else it wouldn't have been done this way, right? -
Quote:Yes. Let's say your billing date is October 5.
1. Sever Transfers are awarded on the first of the month. (i.e. October 1)
2. Paragon Points are awarded on your billing date (i.e. October 5) - however, Freedom launch was frontloaded with extra PP, so if your account was active during launch, you got extra PP. Therefore, if your billing date is before October 11 (according to a GM), you won't get your PP until October 11
3. Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded at the *END* of your billing month (i.e. November 4)
Yes, this means that anyone whose billing date is October 1 through October 10, you won't get your PP until October 11.
Yes, that means the rewards are all on a different award date. Yes, that is kind of dumb.Quote:Hey guys,
I'm being brought up to speed on exactly how this is all working. We'll get an official post explaining everything ASAP. As far as I was aware, PP were to be awarded on your billing cycle date, which is what I originally communicated.
I do apologize if there was confusion caused by the rewarding of Paragon Points on differing dates and we'll work to clarify this and the Reward Token schedule ASAP.
But this October is a fluke and I shouldn't expect October's points until the 11th?
But on Nov 1st I'll get October's token?
And then on Nov 2nd I'll get November's points? -
I am beginning to think that no one really knows
-
Quote:Someone in another thread said we wouldn't get our awards until the next month--October's awards in November.September's points were applied at Head Start instead of renewal date.
Starting October 1, you should get your Points on the renewal date in October.
Tokens are awarded at the end of the current paid playtime. In other words, Tokens are backloaded at the end of each paid/played month. So, you should get a Token 1 month after your first renewal date after the launch of Freedom. -
Super Nigel: You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at damage cap. You're at cap here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're at damage cap on your brute, on your blaster. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiSpider: I don't know.
Super Nigel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven?
Super Nigel: Eleven. Exactly. You get -res. Then your team goes to eleven. -
sonics is useful
it's under rated
people are ignorant
water is wet -
I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my points. I am very interested in the content in this thread.
I had been hoping that the points would arrive at the beginning of October.
Then I hoped they would arrive on my billing renewal date, which is today--which is not over yet.
Some people are saying that we won't get our points for October until November. Which is fine. w/e.
I am not sure what's going to happen nor what's been said should happen.

Quote:So no more points until Nov?From the sound of what I read in various other topics, your rewards are applied at the END of your month for the previous month (still on the billing date), but the rewards from September were applied during the VIP Head Start.
That's disappointing. -
Quote:I use this method too. There are lots of ways to skin a cat. But if we all start in on different methods, we'll end up with shredded cat. For convenience's sake, I let the person with the start do the picking. IT's just quicker and easier than having a discussion and/or vote for every PUG.The one rule I always follow when joining a group is this: If I'm not the one who put the team together, then it's not my place to lead or to question the leader's strategies.
Quote:If I think a leader is being a jerk to the team, then I have no qualms about just leaving the group and finding something better to do.
I just said that I was going to go and do something else for a while and quit. -
Energy melee is very, very average and unexceptional. Except it may have the longest animation times, idk.
You should probably stay away from secondaries that require you to mash buttons, like regen as a fair amount of your combat time can be spent waiting for animations to finish. Since it can be >3 sec from start to finish, you don't want to need to activate a power to stay alive during that period.
So, one of the set-it-and-forget-it secondaries may bring you more playing pleasure.
On the plus side, the animations are a good time to take a sip or a nibble, and a good time to do your in-game chatting. -
