    do Aett.

    do it for mankind!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think I like where this is going.
  2. Effectively, they are. Higher level critters get an accuracy bonus, not a ToHit bonus*, which is where the Defense value goes in the formula. 45% Defense will floor the ToHit of enemies up to +5. They WILL have a higher than 5% chance to hit you, though, but adding more Defense won't help that.

    *Up to +5. A +6 or higher mob gets both a +Acc bonus, and a +ToHit bonus
  3. [ QUOTE ]
But as long as neither 1 or 2 is used against you having say souble the soft cap won't make you harder to hit?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope.
  4. Not exactly a great leveling build there, is it?

No Glacial Armor until level 32?

    Icicles before Stamina?

    Hoarfrost only at level 18?

I also don't think that a mostly solo build will need nearly that much Defense. Solo, you don't need to be at the soft cap, let alone over it.

    Tanker Offense?

    [ QUOTE ]
Oh and for heaven sakes make a real expansion and plan on having a real expansion at least once a year.

Yes you might actually have to hire more then 3 devs (shocking I know).

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, the Going Rogue expansion, where it looks like we will get branching storylines, and a new metric for determining how good/evil your character is, isn't enough for you?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
How could you even say such a thing! Unless... Wait a minute! :O

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOL!

That's hilarious. However, maybe having Photoshop still up in the background might not have been the best idea. :-)

Edit-> Is it sad that I kinda want to use that as my avatar now? Just for a little bit?
  7. From wikipedia:

    [ QUOTE ]
Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies)[1] is an informal adage coined by Mike Godwin in 1990. The adage states: "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

    [/ QUOTE ]
  8. Did you just invoke Godwin's Law in your own thread? And after only two other posts? Well done, good sir!
  9. The soft cap is called such because you can go beyond it, it just stops being as useful to go beyond it. Going above the soft cap has two uses:

    1) Helps protect you against foes that use Defense Debuffs

    2) Helps protect you from foes with ToHit Buffs.
  10. Yes and No.

Yes they make a good solo build. However, I don't know if it'll be able to pump out enough damage to solo an AV. Most times, soloing an AV requires some sort of debuff on the enemy to make it easier to take down.

A heavy IO build might be able to do it, but I haven't tried.
  11. Gonna have to disagree with you on a couple of points here, Kruunch:

    [ QUOTE ]

Leave off Chilling Embrace until your 30s (if at all). Skip Icicles altogether.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When facing enemies near your level, CE is better than your base armor at damage mitigation. Even if you don't need the taunt effect, CE still has it's uses in a Solo-focused build. So does Icicles, although with an AoE heavy secondary like Mace, it's probably less needed (remember, depending on secondary and how you play, Icicles can add up to more damage than any individual secondary attack.).

    [ QUOTE ]
Skip Taunt (if you're mostly soloing).

Skip Perma Frost (unless you plan on farming Portal Corps missions (Behemoths)).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    These I agree with.

    [ QUOTE ]
Go the Stamina route up through L20 (take Hurdle, not Swift).

    Get Hasten at L24(ish).

I suggest Combat Jumping / Super Jump.

Pick up Energy Absorbtion as soon as possible (L26 I think?) as this is what gives you your go power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with these, too. However, depending on playstyle, Hasten might not be so necessary. Take it only if you can fit it in.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Hibernate is definitely worth taking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Solo, I find that I have very little need for this power. With the base armors, CE, and Hoarfrost, it's very, very rare that I need a second panic button. With the heavy mitigation from War Mace, I doubt he'll find it necessary, especially since I agree with this:

    [ QUOTE ]

You will want all of the Mace powers (except Taunt) more then likely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can get away with skipping either the tier two or three attack. Personally, I like Jawbreaker over Pulverize. Take both in the low levels, then possibly respec one out later on.

    [ QUOTE ]

Try to fit in Tough and Weave for when you want to main tank for groups towards the end of the build.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe better for a second build that is team focused. A solo-oriented Ice Tanker really won't need those.

  13. Yes, you are still spending the full endurance cost of the power, despite it being suppressed.
  14. Aett_Thorn

    Tanker Offense?

    [ QUOTE ]
I agree with your points except your last one.

Sadly in CoH your character's future at L50 is of a very limited scope (more then in most MMOs).

    [/ QUOTE ]

How is it limited? You can, now, go back and do every piece of content in the game, on every level 50 that you have, as much as you want.

    [ QUOTE ]
On whole wheat white bread, and the crusts taken off. Cut into triforce shapes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what, pray tell, is "whole wheat white bread"?

(Edited out a diatribe against white bread which could have been construed as insulting and/or stereotypical. I never touch the stuff myself.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's whole wheat bread for white-bread likers. Basically, it's only slightly less healthy than regular wheat bread, but tastes more like white bread.
  16. LoTG = Luck of the Gambler. It's an Invention enhancement set.

Specifically, it is sometimes used just to refer to the +Recharge Global IO from that set.

    Hope that helps!

Edit -> Also, welcome to the game and to the forums!
  17. A few things:

    1) The PvE content is nowhere close to running dry. Just look at some of the content created by players with the MA. Think of that as just a fraction of what you can create in this game.

    2) I have BEEN playing, not I have BIN playing. Also, Riching =/= Reaching.

    3) As long as I don't have to choose an arch-nemesis, and it's an entirely optional thing, then I'm fine with it.

    4) How will you put the other player in your mission? Will it depend on if that person is online, in the PvP zone that you're in? Or is it just creating an MA-like being for you to fight against, with that player's main powersets?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    Might want Hasten no?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Possibly. I haven't checked the Stone Guides out to see if the high +runspeed IO builds also grant a good degree of +recharge or not.

It's certainly useful if he can fit it in, and it goes with the character concept.
  19. If you could post the actual build, I could definitely offer any suggestions I may have. However, I don't have Mid's on my work computer, so can't see it from here.
  20. Really? Hmmm...I thought it was 800. Oh well, my bad. Still, it'll be lower than 1000%.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Which armors does granite shut off? Also, does the auto resist power (stone skin or something like that) still work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Granite Armor will turn off all the other armor toggles in the set, EXCEPT Rooted, which can work with Granite on. Stone Skin will still work, and Mud Pots can remain active.

    [ QUOTE ]
If i IO slot for +speed, how close to normal run/sprint speed can i get while running rooted or granite? I would combine with swift slotted as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are a couple of guides in the Tanker Guide section that show IO slotting that can get you back up to basic run speed with Rooted or Granite on. Not sure if they go far enough to counter both at the same time.

    [ QUOTE ]
Brimstone & Crystal armors - Do i skip these? or take them early on until i can get granite, then respec out?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's up to you, but they can be useful on the way up, and if you exemp down below Granite at any time (remember, dual builds can be good for this).

    [ QUOTE ]
ight now i am level 13. So i have a ways to go.

    Current build is

    rock armor,
    stone skin
    earth's embrace
    rooted
    Mudpots
    Jab
    Haymaker
    TP foe

Any advice on what to take on the next couple of levels to make the grind easier would be a help.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, starting on the path to Stamina can be a decent help. Swift will be handy, or course. And of course Teleport (which you look like you're doing already. Then KO Blow at level 22, and Rage as soon as you can get it.

    Good luck!

Edit -> God =/= good, when wishing somebody luck.
  22. There is no way to, in-game, check your Vet status schedule.

However, your NCSoft account page should have your potential schedule in it. I don't know why it would have stopped.
  23. I'm betting that it would check on each mob hit. However, remember that there are damage caps for each AT, so you'd never see a +1000% scenario. For the Brute, you'd cap out at 800%.
  24. I am quite sure that it came from this post by Posi. However, I can't see that phrase being used specifically. However, in several places, he mentions that the support staff will play the arc to find out if it's an exploit, so that may be what they're paraphrasing.

I'll keep reading it and see if I find anything out.

    Edit -> Maybe this:

    [ QUOTE ]
    Q) “You say not to use the word “Farm” in the mission or description. Is that how you are blanket banning things?”
    A) We do not do blanket banning based on keywords or phrases. When customer service bans an arc, they are looking at the arc in question when they do it.

    Spam Emails

    [ QUOTE ]
I find it funny that there are so many people willing to jump in on a thread just to respond to move it elsewhere. Man it must really annoy you so much. But then again, your posts like that are as useless as the in game emails that are being complained about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ahhh...irony, my old friend.
