You've got three unused slots. Use them for a 3 piece Aegis set in either Deflection or True Grit (depending on whether you want more S/L resistance or elemental resistance). Then replace the Obliteration set in either Dark Consumption or Soul Drain (I'd do Soul Drain since it has a higher end cost) with a Scirroco's Dervish Set. That get you softcapped to AoE for the loss of 5% Recharge.

Eh, you aren't exactly giving a lot of ideas. What powers do you you think each of them should have?
General reactions based on your descriptions:
Energy Consumption: Personally, I think Kinetics fill this particular thematic niche already both in terms of theme and power selection.
Earth Assistance: An interesting idea. The problem here is how to make it not conflict with Earth Control. It's a solid bet that any new buff/debuff sets will be released for Defenders, Corruptors, Controllers and Masterminds so it's necessary to factor that in. Your suggestion seems to lean towards soft control but Earth Control already has several powers that do that (Quicksand and Earthquake) so an Earth based Buff/Debuff set would need to avoid duplicating that to much. Making it a shield set with typed defenses instead of positional would be a thematic fit and provide an interesting option for support sets although I'm not sure how useful that would be.
Cosmic Domination: Sounds like a reskin of Radiation Emission. -
Of the three positional defense types AoE is probably the least important for a melee character.
NPCs tend to have fewer AoE powers than ranged/melee and they tend to be on longer recharge timers than other powers. That being said you shouldn't neglect AoE defense entirely. I'd aim for at least 35% AoE defense even if you have to sacrifice some Ranged/Melee defense to do so. -
The thing is that, to me at least, WTF makes a lot more sense as an acronym than WST. It is a Task Force that I do Weekly hence the Weekly Task Force. I realize that WTF has another meaning but lots of TLAs have multiple meanings. I realize that the devs used Strike Target since redside Task Forces are not technically Task Forces but you know what? I call them Task Forces as well so it is the Weekly Task Force regardless of what side I'm playing.

Option 3: Cheat.
The tactic I've used to get it is to use temporary powers to take Director 11 out really quickly. He doesn't start summoning mines for about 30 seconds so if you can take him out in that time frame it's easy to get the badge.
Basic strategy (originally stolen from Leandro IIRC):
1. Enter but leave the glowies until he timer runs down
2. Kill the three waves of warworks that come out
3. Clear all but 1 glowie (ideally one near his spawn point)
4. Summon temp pets (especially Shivans and HVAS if you have them)
5. Use Biological Mutagens temp powers
6. Grab the last glowie
7. When Director 11 Spawns drop Chemical Burn and Nuclear Blast temp powers on his head and lead the shivans towards him.
8. Profit!
Ideally you want at least 6 shivans/HVAS pets and 2-3 people with warburg nukes.
If you want to get it the "proper" way I'd advise a mostly ranged team and fly as much as possible. Kill the other malta quickly since their web grenades wreak havoc with this tactic though. -
Welcome to the wonderful world of post-I13 PvP where defense is useless.
The problem you are encountering is not a bug with PFF but the diminishing returns system. The short version is that buffs do not stack linearly in PvP but instead are reduced in effectiveness the more you stack (like ED but for buffs instead of enhancements).

Quote:For (de)buff sets the value of recharge is heavily dependent on the set. Most of them have at least a few excellent powers on longish recharges. Traps and Empathy are both good examples which have game changing powers on long recharge timers. In fact of the (de)buff sets I would say the only ones that don't get a huge benefit from more recharge are Force Field, Sonic Resonance and Storm Summoning (all three benefit from recharge but not to the same degree as other sets). For what gets the least benefits, I'd imagine the (de)buff sets would be a good starting point. Sets like Force Field don't really benefit all that much from +Recharge, since they've got lots of toggles you just leave on, or clicks that recharge, out of the box, far faster than you need them. Sonic Res would be similar, depending on how important you think Liquefy is.
EDIT: On the general subject I only have Hasten on one character (a Warshade that I never actually play anyway). I see the value of Hasten, I just don't particularly care about it. I tend to add a nice chunk of global recharge to most of my characters through IOs anyway and I generally find powers that I'd rather take more than Hasten. I prefer to take the CJ/SJ combo to cover my travel powers so I tend not to be able to fit in Hasten without dropping something I want more. -
The suggestion I made a long time ago for Ouro is that instead of the current TF based system selecting a flashback would add a "Flashback Contact" to your contact list (this would look like a regular contact but have the Ouroborus icon somewhere). You can get missions from the contact as if they were a normal with the following exceptions:
1. You are limited to one "Flashback Contact" at a time and must complete or dismiss one before starting another.
2. While inside a mission given by them you are exemplered down to the required level
3. They only give a particular story arc or badge mission after which they are removed from your list.
The obvious advantage of this is it allows you to do a flashback arc at your own pace and change your team for it at will as well as taking a break to do other missions (or TFs) if you desire.
Compared to the current system it would have the following downsides:
1. If a group wanted to do the entire arc together for merits they would need to use the "team completion" feature.
2. You'd be at your natural level for hunt missions and travel
3. You couldn't use Ouroborus for quick transport to certain areas (i.e. starting the Stolen Power Falshback for a free port to Cimeroria).
I don't think any of these are fundamental problems, the first has a solution which, while cumbersome, does work. The second would make some arcs easier but hunt missions don't award XP/Inf anymore anyway so it's not really a huge balance issue. As for 3, well I doubt that the devs intended ouro to be used that way anyway. -
General point, for the Detonator bug, when you did C&P you attributed it to Zamuel and not me. More importantly you might want to add at the start of that comment that it's about Detonator since that isn't clear in the list itself.

Quote:That doesn't change my core point: you need more recharge to get cold perma than Rad/Traps. With the Alpha slot it's become easier to get that recharge but using Spiritual prevents you from using one of the other alphas.Till you equip a rare spiritual
With not particularly high recharge (not even perma-hasten pre-Alpha), with just the rare spiritual I am perma'ed on everything; Heat Loss, Benumb, several applications of Sleet.
Quote:Actually a Dom's Drain Psyche slotted with good heals (5 Doctored Wounds set for example) + a Spiritual Core Paragon can take its -regen to over 1100%, just thought id throw that out there :P.
-
Useful trick here (for level 50s only unfortunately) is to use the crystal either in your base or Ouroborus to start a Flashback to Daedalus' arc (or the Villain equivalent) and then use the crystal to teleport to the contact.

Quote:In many ways I would actually say Traps is better against AVs than groups. It works well enough against groups (especially if you have a lockdown proc in PGT) but it is by nature a somewhat stationary set. It really shines in longer fights (such as against AVs) simply because you can start double stacking the traps. Additionally PGT is the strongest -regen power in the game with it's only weakness being that needs the AV to be relatively stationary to get the full duration. It also depends on what you are facing.
If you are facing AVs and hard to kill targets, rad, poison, dark, kin and cold are the best.
If you are facing large groups, storm, kin, TA, traps, and dark are better.
So in that regard, kin and dark are the "best" debuff sets.
Overall though I tend to agree that Cold Domination is probably the set with the best mix of buffs and debuffs. It's main weakness is it's reliance on recharge it has a worse native uptime than most of the other sets so unless you have an IO'd build or some outside buffs it won't have 100% uptime. -
A few Traps issues I know of:
Acid Mortar
Mastermind Acid Mortar takes Targeted AoE Damage sets while the Defender/Corruptor version takes Ranged Damage sets (no clue which is considered "correct" but it's definitely an inconsistency)
Force Field Generator
Has the same free upgrade bug as Dark Servant.
Detonator
Where to start? Ok, first off damage and accuracy enhancements in it do absolutely nothing. Secondly it behaves inconsistently between different sets. Near as I can tell (based on testing by myself and another forum poster) the power counts as being cast from your pet if you have non-human henchmen (meaning it uses their damage scale and level for damage) but is a fixed damage pseudo-pet if cast from a human-pet set (it might also be summoned at your level for human pets but I'd like more evidence on that before I could say and I don't have a human pet MM to test with). -
Anything that deals fire or energy damage will ignite OSA. A useful trick for characters without a suitable power in their other powerset is to use Technology or Mahic Origin since the origin powers from them deal energy damage.

Quote:If you want to actually prove anything you need proof so yes please do take screenshots. Make sure you show your actual sale prices.Actually, in blatant hypocrisy, I started one two days ago just to prove my point. Won't tell you which salvage type I'm targeting...... though maybe I should take a few screenshots.
Quote:With two inactive toons, and just over 1 million inf invested so far, I was able to clean out all standing offers under 3k inf. The total number of standing offers when I started was over 2700. It's now between 1200 and 1300. By the end of next week I think you'll see the effects. -
Quote:Except that the progression for vet rewards always includes a respec every 12 months starting at 9 months (just like you get a free character slot for all awards that are a multiple of 12). Now admittedly the 45 and 69 are the first respec awards that come with nothing else but if they hadn't had a respec we'd have got people complaining about that.Basically when it came down to the 45th and 69th month awards the Devs effectively said "we couldn't really think of anything unique to give you guys so we'll just toss another respec token at you". It's pretty much the laziest non-Vety Vet award we could ever get. *sigh*

Another option is to use ouroborus. Either flashback to an appropriate level story arc and run that or flashback to a story arc in order to lower your combat level and street sweep an appropriate zone.

The thing is, is the Incarnate system Disneyland? From my point of view it doesn't significantly differ from existing content except that it's slightly harder and some of it requires larger teams. For me it's a way to play my 50s without feeling like I'm not accomplishing anything.

Quote:I know we've had this argument before but I'll add my view here fore the sake of completeness. While your viewpoint has merit it's important to remember that everything comes at a cost. Softcapping the positionals without relying on FFG and Protector Bots means you need to make sacrifices elsewhere in your build either in terms of power selections (to fit in Weave), other types of set bonuses (primarily recharge) or cost (using a gladiator's armor global for example).1. I see no reason why not obtain defense cap without the need of Protector bot Bubbles. There will be times when trying to resummoning robots is like pushing sand against the tide. It just becomes impossible. The Protector bots trying to bubble you is not an instant thing. They bubble themselves and then your FFG. So either you will have to have FFG up and still not defense capped and wait for Protectors to bubble you or even have lower defenses without having FFG up in an attempt to have Protector bots bubble you that much faster. Either way I'm not crazy at trying to play against those odds.
There are advantages to your method but it is not the slam dunk you imply. -
@Jericho:
My main piece of advice would be to figue out some way to squeeze in Tactics or failing that go with Nerve for your Alpha Boost. Even with a level shift your lower tier minions will be fighting against +5s. Even with ED capped accuracy in the pet itself you're looking at a 60% to hit chance. Yes, you can counter that somewhat with defense debuffs in Acid Mortar but those are pretty much useless against AVs. Not to mention that the ACUs and BCUs have a 15% defense bonus which will halve the to hit change of your Drones. -
Quote:This is pretty much my opinion on the matter. Prior to the Incarnate stuff I would when I reached 50 almost invariably roll a new character. I played my 50s occasionally (mostly to get accolades or badges) but I didn't play them a whole lot simply because I like to make progress. The alpha slot reinvigorated my love of playing 50s because I can now make progress on them. I have 3 characters who are active incarnates and I can play them, essentially forever and never stop progressing. I've got a T4 alpha boost on all three and so now I'm working on their second T4 alpha boost. If I get that before I20 comes out I'll start working on a third so unless I20 is delayed long enough for me to get 8 T4 alphas on all 3 of them (an unlikely occurrence) I have enough progression to keep me amused for ages. And of course once I20 comes out I'll have another potential 32 T4 boosts per character to earn.I don't care about shard -> thread conversion rates, don't mind random reward tables, and don't mind inf costs. For me, the goal is the chase not the end. The journey not the destination.
I guess the short version (and sign of my insanity) is that I love to play my level 50s and I love to make progress. Prior to the Incarnate system there was very little I could do that allowed me to do both at once. With the incarnate system I can do both at once for a long, long, long time and as such I am happy. -
Quote:Well the point would be that the devs would presumably take what they've learned from this game in terms of power design, balance, mission design etc. and apply it to CoH2 from the ground up as it were thus avoiding some of the issues in the current system (for example the whole Hamidon Enhancement issue) alongside a new engine that allows them them to do things that simply aren't possible here.As for a CoH2...what's the point? I wouldn't switch to it unless there was a way to transfer my characters from CoH to it.
I'll also point out the opposite, allowing people to transfer characters over (as in actual characters instead of just a name reservation system) would mean that making CoH2 would be pointless since it would need to replicate CoH closely enough to use the same characters. -
Quote:I think it's perfectly reasonable. I both solo and team (although nowadays I primarily team) and I find that the gameplay is very different in the two modes. Soloing is a much more tactical game with a focus on resource management and positioning while teaming is more about rapid information processing. I enjoy both to a large degree but I could easily see that some people might prefer one style to the other. Now this attitude I find much harder to understand than that of a hardcore soloist. The hardcore soloists are at least playing a game that they like. You are playing a game you don't like, only because there are other people also playing that same boring game. Now that makes my head asplode.

Say what? How on earth are you blocking people from selling? You said that you were relisting yours at high prices so as long as they list for 1 inf less than you they will get the next sale. If your buying bids are still up they can opt to immediately sell to you and if not they can list for somewhere between your buy price and your sell price and they get the next sale.

Ah, but they were detached and Dimo admits that they have gotten "sharper" as a consequence. The rest of Jaegers are much more aggressive and less subtle.
