The problem here (I believe) is two-fold:
(1) Bases were rushed out the door to meet the CoV publication deadline. The base code wasn't completely Ready for Prime Time yet.
(2) The person who did the original coding is long gone.
Together these two problems combine with the need for any new base changes to be backwards-compatible and create a real quagmire. Its unfortunate, to say the least. But the devs *did* try an overhaul not too long ago... but they scrapped it after a lot of work was completed because they didnt like the final result. (This happened awhile back, as you may recall, with the Skill System.)
I too would love changes to bases. Just getting a handful of generic shapes to play with in the editor (spheres, cones, cylinders and rectangles of various shapes and sizes and colors) would really open up a lot more possibilities for creativity.
But currently priorities are elsewhere. -
Thanks so much for the info, everyone!

All,
I want to post pictures of my SG base. However, in order to completely appreciate it, I really need to show the floorplan first. When in the base I open the map window and press [Print Screen] to take the screenshot. But when I open the image file, it doesn't show the map window (or any other window - inspirations, power trays, etc.). Just my character standing there with the surrounding scenery.
I know that some people are able to do this, as I've seen screenshots that include all these other windows.
Any idea what setting(s) need to be changed? -

Yeah, he went down like a cheerleader at a frat party. Seemed like a looooong build-up for < 60 seconds of beat-down.
Now about those photobucket pics, Shay... -
Quote:This. It's definitely working, several of my characters have it. Try re-logging your character, as I frequently come across a bug where day job progress may not show up upon logging in your character, even though it's been properly accumulated and tracked -- the progress bar doesn't seem to properly update sometimes. Re-logging the character fixes this problem.
It affects all of my toons, all of the time. But re-logging isn't necessary for me. Try simply zoning. -
Quote:So people say the devs are too busy doing GR to change the old contact introduction missions, but there *is* a much easier solution. Just raise the max number of missions in your queue to 5. Then having one or even 2 dross missions sitting there is no big deal. The only difference between a regular contact introduction and an introduction mission is that with a contact introduction, you pick when (and if) you want to go, whereas with an introduction mission, you do it NOW, or it clogs a spot in your mission queue. And unlike a lot of other MMOs, here you only have three. One down is a big thing.

Quote:Also,if you see a swastika nowadays you immediately think of persecution and intolerance. Very few people realize that it was originally a symbol of peace and harmony that was perverted by the Nazis for their own ends. They apparently figured that using a symbol associated with good things would blind people to their true intentions, and it didn't work. So, now a symbol that was originaly a good thing is irrevocably tied to one of the most evil and distasteful things to ever occur in our history.
The "reverse swastika" (with the right angles pointing left, and not right as the Nazis did) is used in Japanese on road maps to denote Shinto shrines. It is called a "Manji" in Japan.
The "regular" swastika has been used by Native Americans for centuries. In fact, if you go to the big, old hotel in downtown Rapid City, SD (forget the name), you'll see chandilers (sp?) with this symbol picked out in decorative tiles.
Just FYI, Zube showing off the trivia dust bunnies kicking around in his head. -
Wow... you really ARE just another brick in The Wall...!

Quote:I am trying to build a telepad, I have all the salvage that I need that was listed to build one. I have a basic worktable, and a combo unit to power it. But I can't interact with it at all! No little blue hand appears, I can't even click on it when I'm not in edit mode. Its been a long time since I've built a telepad, now it is invention salvage used, so I tried an invention table, but that didn't have any spot for telepads. Anyone know what is going on??
Do you have power and/or control?
Go into edit mode. Make sure that your power and control are both in the green. And make sure rent is paid up. -

Quote:It's a TEST.This is not a whine as such but why so short of a test. Some of us (I'm Speaking for the East Coasters) who have jobs, family's or other responsibilities till late afternoon will get very little time with the event if any.
Unless they are planning another test after this one, it seems to be mighty short for finding problems. Something along the lines of last years CoT ghost debacle comes to mind. Especially since it seems they are adding some new things to the mix, which is deeply appreciated.
I guess I'm asking would it hurt terribly to leave it going for the weekend? It seems to me that a lot more feedback would be available to the devs.
2 cents and all that...
The EVENT will run for longer than 6 hours, and you'll have lots of opportunity to play. -
The player, without any shadow of a doubt whatsoever.

Quote:This.Any hope of getting an Arc rated several hundred times amidst the sea of of hundred-thousands is slim unless one actively promotes and runs full teams repeatedly through their own missions. I have no patience for this behavior.
I had several ideas for stories, but my first (down there in the sig, thank you for looking) was really fun to work on, took a long time to write, even longer to polish, and even more time to fix when anti-farming nerfs screwed it up. And then I spent a lot of time trying to promote it. A LOT of time.
For all that effort, it still sits with less than 200 plays.
The idea of going through all that again with another arc, only to end up in Law Of Diminishing Returns Land and see it sit at fewer than 100 plays...? No thank you. If the Devs had not TOTALLY lost interest in picking out arcs for Dev's Choice, I might be encouraged to try it in the hopes of getting a DC nod, which would mean more plays.
In short, I am very disappointed with MA. Since the Great MA Badge Nerf, I have little to no reason to play MA arcs. And with the mathematical near impossibility of getting my arcs played no matter how good they may be, I have even less interest in creating arcs. -
Quote:OKie DOkieThanks everyone who came out tonight. We still need more arcs to go through, so please submit them ASAP!
29973 The Running of the Bulls
This one is humorous, but there is a story to it as well. So be sure to read all the clues. And bring a pitchfork.
... a BIG pitchfork.
