Why in the world would anyone in his or her right mind buy a NCSoft game after August 31?

First they took Tabula Rasa away from me. Now City of Heroes. Never again.

Right mind? So anyone that disagrees with your personal preferences in terms of where to spend gaming dollars is not in their right mind?

Talk about hyperbolic BS.

I don't plan on giving NC any cash anytime soon for a number of reasons, but just because someone does does not mean they no longer think clearly.

Agreed NCsoft must think we are idiots, they keep selling products in hope we develop amnesia. NCsoft, "Oh give it a few years they will forget we pulled the plug on games, stupid Americans will continue to buy."

I refuse to join any more NCSoft games. Why bother when they'll kill what other people love?

I won't play NCSoft games either!
Not that I'm boycotting it is just I didn't like the first GW and all the other games have no interest to me. But glad you found something.

That's not what was said.

NCSoft has proved that participating in one of their properties is dancing on a razor's edge.

If you want to set yourself up for this again, that's fine. But, for those who've been repeatedly burned by NCSoft's decisions, going back to them after being kicked so many times is crazy.

At this point I don't trust NCsoft enough to play any of their future titles. They remind me a lot of West End Games in the early 90's, who had two of the best selling RPGs at the time, (Torg and Star Wars) but went bankrupt due to the forty or so unsuccessful titles dragging them down.

I just don't trust NCsoft to be around much longer, let alone their track record for painfully disappointing titles.

I suppose, in fairness, I should concede that City of Heroes was and is a success, and an excellent game with a loyal fan base that... oh wait. That's the game they're closing next.

Well, heck, I might as well...

Me too, no more NCSoft here.

Backdraft quote? Impressive.

NCSoft is a business and the only thing they understand is money. So I won't give them another blue cent.

Melodrama up in here.

Guild Wars 2 is a good game. Arenanet are awesome devs who do good work. Choosing to not reward them because you think that will somehow stick it to NCSoft is silly.

NCSoft made an incredibly ****** decision. So it goes. I had a lot of fun with CoH, much more than my moneys worth. This isn't the way I'd have liked it to shut down, but all things come to an end.

Lisa walks into thread....darn.

I am not sure what I can say that has not already been said.

I am happily playing Guildwars2. It is a quality game with Devs that love it, and care about it, as much as our Devs love and care about City Of Heroes.

Yes, it is an NCSOFT game, which is worrysome, but I can only hope and prey that Guildwars2 is their new direction, and thus will be allowed to live for years....and...maybe, maybe NCSOFT has learned their lesson about closing down games that are still profitable and well loved.

....so many things to do and explore in Guildwars2...and you are not stuck to one land either. My Warrior and Elementalist are world travelers..so much so, that am going to try my hand at the craft of cooking and become a chef

what you say is all fine well and good, but none of it gives me any reason to think that NCSoft has learned any lessons, and I have every reason to think it is only a matter of time before they kill off Guild Wars as well. If you would like to invest your time and hard-earned money there, it is your decision. My decision is clear: NCSoft has a proven track record of killing off profitable games for their own (unexplained) ends, and I have no more money to give them. End of story.

All the more reason to enjoy a game while it's available, no?

If you had known that CoH would get shut down in 2012, would you never have played it? Nothing lasts forever, you guys. CoH had an excellent run.

Of course it's a matter of time before GW2 gets shut down, but refusing to play it (or some other NCSoft game) because it could get shut down is some ridiculous paranoid Sword of Damocles ****. CoH ran for what, like 7-8 years? That's a long time, you guys.

But you know, whatever, play what you wanna play, don't play what you don't want to play. Sure, almost all consumer choices are based off emotion but we should at least try to be rational and reasonable.

This is not the point. The point is we can't trust them anymore. The point is: we disagree to NCSOFT conduct and COH don't need to end this way. They could set it to any console like DC ONLINE in PS3. Because it We could pay to play COH, but we will not to play GW2 even free.

I have my reasons for not wanting to play Guild Wars 2. To be completely honest, this debacle with NCSoft killing off City of Heroes is not the main reason.

Simply put, I don't really care for the "fantasy" style games.

Which is kind of weird considering how much I like The Lord of the Rings and a couple other fantasy books. Shoot, the LotR MMO is f2p and I've never even bothered to download it.

So considering there is a game out there that I actually may have even a slight interest in, is completely free for me to play and I haven't even given it a look, why on (Middle)Earth would I PAY NCSoft to play their game? Not going to happen.

NCSoft could pay me and I probably wouldn't play Guild Wars 2, although it would depend on what kind of stipulations would be involved.

To those that are enjoying Guild Wars 1 and/or 2, I wish you nothing but the best. I won't sit here and hope that NCSoft closes your games down anytime soon. I hope they stay running for as long as even 1 person enjoys them.

As for me, I'm likely to never play an MMO as a subscriber ever again, at least not on a permanent basis. If one comes along that does grab me then cool, but there hasn't been one yet.

City of Heroes was my first MMO. It won't be my last, but it will be the last that I get as invested in as I have here.

If I knew COH was closing in 2012 and it was even a year before shut down I would have felt better about it. I would have known way ahead of time, not within 90 days. Even then after all development was completed and NCSoft would say it was time to move, I would have accepted that.

I can't trust NCsofts product anymore. They have built the reputation of pulling the plug without proper notice. 90 days isn't proper notice.
