Because it reminds me of how I felt when I first started playing, and everything was amazing to me.

(The double shot at 1:37 captured back when we didn't know how to edit demos still amazes me)
Not to diminish that video's quality, but a couple of those toons had some rather bad costumes. Good video though.

Globus - Wyatt Earth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxS47H2nge4 (I was originally introduced to this song by a tribute to SWG in its final months)

Looking down at this barren land
Once known as home before
Destruction, all the world
It's an ending we have brought

The world we wrote a million times before
And what we allow to break this all down
The world we broke a million times before
What should have been stunned is now all struck dumb

Cities they fell, life's a choke
On bittersweet warnings took for a joke
Misspent days, spent in a haze
Pumped from our factories into our graves
They must know that they're so close to bringing nothing
So they show
They've brought success at bringing nothing

The world we wrote a million times before
And what we allow to break this all down
The world we broke a million times before
What should have been stunned is now all struck dumb
Struck dumb

Still looking down at this broken land
Once grass has turned to sand
Hindsight's broke, sky is smoke
We've passed this point of doubt
They must know that they're so close to bringing nothing
So they show they've brought success at bringing nothing

The world we wrote a million times before
And what we allow to break this all down
The world we broke a million times before
What should have been stunned is now all struck dumb

The world we wrote a million times before
And what we allow to break this all down
The world we broke a million times before
What should have been stunned is now all struck dumb

Pink Floyd - High Hopes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OTBK5HBx3M

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road and on down the causeway
Do they still meet there by the cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

****

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Rush - Time Stand Still : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGsQ5n9Qu0A
.
.
.

Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now.

Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away
Experience slips away.

Time stand still

I turn my face to the sun
Close my eyes
Let my defenses down
All those wounds
That I can't get unwound.

It's not really anything special compared to the last one - it's just one of the very old (note the old design for BaBs) launch trailers for CoH with the audio replaced with a song. What's notable about it is how incredibly perfectly the song syncs up with the trailer without any editing of either one. It was so close that at first I thought that this was the original trailer, until I ran across a version with the original audio (and I still like this version better, as the original audio includes a really bad voiceover).

It's also pretty good, I think. The official trailers for this game were always pretty looking, and the song certainly fits well. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a HD version of that original trailer, though there's probably one out there somewhere.
I've been looking at people's thoughts in this topic, clicking on links to see what songs people are choosing to express their feelings or listen to on what could possibly be a very bad day for all of us if our virtual world isn't saved. The spoken part from that one earlier by the Swedish band Turisas, "The Bosphoros Freezes Over" was very fitting, but when I saw this original trailer I hadn't seen in eight years and heard how well the song fit, I fell in love with CoH all over again. I have a feeling I will be watching this trailer for a long time to come.

Before the regen nerf I used to take my BS/regen into the storm palace and other crazy places and just go to town and see what I could get away with.

I played a mix of things, but almost always had this one in my playlist. Seemed appropriate.

Down the road, when I IO'd my first character, a fire/Shield Scrapper, I used these songs pretty consistently in my playlists during epic battles.

Well, this is the second MMO NCSoft has taken away from me. The first being Tabula Rasa, three and a half years ago.

TR at least got to keep some of its dev team the last couple months. One of the musicians (Tracy W. Bush) composed a song, Blue Turns to Grey (not the Rolling Stones song), that was used as the final mission BGM -- the mission we were all on when they turned off the servers.

It's a great song. Here are a couple YouTubes setting it to game footage from those last days:

...

Yeah, that's New York ...
The game storyline had just gotten to humanity trying to retake Earth ...

I hope my next MMO isn't from NCSoft. I'm not sure I can go through this again.

Should the worst come to pass, I hear the voice of the game itself in:
Coming Down - Five Finger Death Punch

The song that so closely matches my own feelings of how much I still have left to do... how much I may never have a chance to get to...
One Day Too Late - Skillet

Also making my playlist:
Hero - Skillet
Saints & Sinners - Flogging Molly (for my villians, who are mostly insane)
Rise Above This - Seether
Walk Away From The Sun - Seether
Seasons in the Sun

And the song that will make my heart ache if this is to be our end:
Holding out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler

Thank you, thank you Viridian for the introduction to Swedish House Mafia - Save the World!
And to Jack for the doggie video, that Golden needs a cape and a star on his chest!

I was waiting for someone to mention that one. Seems obvious.

I'd also put up this ditty.

Ready for more fight music.

Dunno if I'd call this fight music, but I might as well bring this up now. SOMEHOW, back in the beginning of '06 when I started playing my first serious character (spent a few months just experimenting with everything), I went looking for inspirational music to go with her. And somehow during this process, I stumbled upon Gamma Ray, a somewhat campy, classic metal band I'd somehow never heard of before. Well... just about every song I could find by them somehow fit the feel of the game for me. It was heavy and fast enough for fighting, but with a lot of hope, which made it perfect for superheroes in my opinion. And then the lyrics. Lots of repeating themes such as freedom, destiny, adventure, etc. Gamma Ray quickly became the centerpiece of my playlist for this game, and never really got taken off. With this music so ingrained into my memories of playing this game, it'll always serve as a way for me to look back and remember what it all felt like.

A lot of the music just works for heroics in general. And a number of the songs from their "Somewhere Out in Space" album reminded me of the Kheldians.

Here's a sampling of some of my favorites.

This is a good one Swedish House Mafia - Save The World

But this seems to fit better Snow Patrol - Take Back The City (ALBUM VERSION HQ)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RayPL...ature=youtu.be

Can not decide but these seem to be the ones that would have the most appeal not to hard too soft a good middle ground area
