Power change tokens
I believe They should do it because all the nerf over years broke some of our older toons. As example, I think of all energy melee toons deleted after E13.
|
None of them are "broken." I'm not fond of EM on a tank, but those have nothing to do with the changes made to EM.
and when they change a pool power we should be able to change or not that pool selection. |
Thanks to read and be aware that some good spenders/customers are starting to be really fed up ! |
Before everyone trounces you for this idea, which continues to be brought up time and time again, I suggest you use the search function to find all the previously written answers to your question. With as often as it's brought up, there's a lot of replies.
In general: The Devs have said no, as it goes against their concept of making the game "Alt friendly". They've also looked at the code to even see if it's "feasible", and have stated as recently as April that they couldn't do it, even if they wanted to without breaking things horribly. |
As to the OP, I'm still all for it if it puts the character back to level 1 and all they get are the badges.

While that maybe true about the mods, there were several threads suggesting this idea or something similar within the last month or two that wouldn't have been "necro'd".

thats why we get 48? Character slots slots.... plus servers to move toons to..
I've always thought that selling (for a hefty price) a 4th "mutant" build that allows a character to keep badges and accolade powers and such while choosing new powersets within the chosen AT might be a reasonable compromise. I would think the build would require a total releveling to 50 to keep the game active at the lower levels. But maybe the incarnate unlocks could carry forward. There would be no loss of enhancements as a build add-on. The cooldown period between switching back and forth from the 4th build would need to be crazy long. And adding a build might be technically easier than other proposals.
From a "choice" standpoint - the developers already allow us to rename, re-costume, change genders, change body size, change from hero to villain and back again, add wings and tails, add & subtract all sorts of side powers like invisibility, flight, healing, etc and so on. It appears the devs would like to offer as much flexibility and choice as possible. So allowing a swap from say, Willpower to Bio Armor doesn't seem like a huge deal to me game-wise. If it is technically challenging or impossible then that is another matter entirely.
I'm not sure there are many, if any characters, that I would spend the money to change in such a manner. But I don't think the idea is terribly inconsistent with all the other options given to us as players.
Twice a year? Try twice a week.
Lots of people want it, but it's just not happening.

I'd still like to see it. There have been so many times I wish I could change a secondary powerset to a newer one that matches the primary better, or a newer primary that matches the character concept better, and keep my character intact without deleting and starting over that I can't help but wish for it.
People can wish all they like but it's still not happening.
OK. So we have some things that are somewhat commonly requested that we know some dev stances on. Hoping to get this (a) stickied, perhaps, and (b) updated by players as the stances change or get expanded on.
The purpose of this, of course, is a common resource with *specifically* what the dev team has said on certain issues. (Not things like my copypastas on things, JUST dev stances.) I am going to ask that if you want to update - especially if a dev has just said something - you put in a link. This initial post is missing links, of course, since I'm *just* posting it and haven't found them all. Comment, add links, etc. if there's anything I've missed (which I'm sure there is.) Full respecs/AT/Powerset respecs Dev stance: No. Doesn't fit their game philosophy. Also extremely difficult. <Links needed> Reason: It would counter all the work the devs have done to make it alt-friendly. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=powerset+posi Regarding being able to respec your primary and secondary: Posi: "It just breaks my brain to think of, say, all the enhancements that you can no longer slot and just gimped yourself." Synapse: "We'd have to have it like the respec, or the character transfer, but even more expensive." http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=powerset+posi "Positron, could you again clarify that "power-set" and "archtype" respecs are not a possibility for the future of the game?" Posi: "They are not on the schedule. They are a lot, A LOT of work. Some people in the office were asking about them. AT respecs seem impossible, and powerset respecs are easier, but still very very hard. I don't know what we'd have to price them at to make them worth the effort." |

This thread again?
Well, I can see something similar happening in the future.
This and maybe even origins tokens.
Another way to get money from players: instead of rerolling, which can be tedious after a while, people can change existing characters over and over, buying those powerset tokens, origin tokens, rename tokens...
They would make some money for sure. Even if this idea go against the alt friendly nature of this game...

But just because I can see it happening one day, doesn't mean it's ever going to actually happen.
So yes these threads will keep appearing.

I believe if a player is pver it doesnt really make a difference to have common set while playing. Pvper have to have some purple and expensive set so main customers for these are pvper in my opinion BUT i can tell you after playing many years my toons that now are fully IO +5 i will not unequip them again (because i did already for some new alt) to equip another, we pay for the boosters (and we loose them if we respec) and when they change a pool power we should be able to change or not that pool selection.
I decided to spend no more money in PP until they ll finally give a POOL respec for every toons that have major changes over years in their powers. That should be in game since E13 that would may be avoid less people to leave in that time.
Moreover they gave us some purple ATO modifier drops that can drop instead of purple IO so i am sorry but as far as a toon can have only 6SATO we SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRADE EXTRA ATO MODIFIER INTO ANY PURPLE IO TO SOME CONTACT !!!
They might want to do business but THEY HAVE TO DO IT FAIR !

They've given everyone free respecs each time they've changed a power so players can fix their builds. Everyone, not just the people with characters that were affected by the changes.
Furthermore they've added extra enhancement trays that once purchased allow players to pull 50 enhancements off of a build during a respec, and Enhancement Unslotters that let us pull individual enhancements off of builds without even burning a respec.
