Imperious and Romulus...
Good because it was never funny. And at this point I think you're just being obstinate.

Let's be honest, here, States and Psyche were culled out because they were the last vestiges of Jack's presence in the Game. We KNOW that. The Devs know that. Just no one is admitting that's the whole reason behind this godawful cludge.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

a can of worms in the time contin. has been opened with removal of those two. But yea, most people heard of or about the actual believed and or true reason behind it.
-Female Player-
Not so much obstinate as 'The so called logic behind all this is so fething stupid it makes my brain hurt'.

It's a hamfisted point trying to call out about Statesman and Pysche and that IS a pretty silly situation, but it's not really analogous to THIS situation except as a tangent about characters dying (not BEING dead).
Uh, no. We're talking about Imperious. The whole point of this is the OP is trying to make an awful point that since States and Psyche died, Imperious should be removed the same way because he dies but the situations aren't simila. We've never witnessed Imperious die.

Technically, States and Psyche don't die, if we're going purely off a level basis as a timelines (which I hate, but whatever), until the player gets to the right level for the final parts of SSA1.
HOWEVER, they got removed wholesale from the game, from level 1. Despite all the problems that causes. It's as bad as saying "Well, Imperious dies at X point, so let's remove him from all the other stuff too!" i.e. it makes no sense.
Removing States and Psyche as they did also makes no sense.
Not only does it screw up the timeline, but why on earth should new players care about a character they now get no connection with whatsoever. You might as well kill of Faceless Cape #359.
Basically, the whole thing is one giant cludge, and I'm personally doing my best to just forget about the whole thing, before my inner editor commits suicide on a pencil.

DM: "Hey so, [name of unpopular person] quit the game. What should we do?"
Players: "Let's kill his characters. We've spent a lot of time out of game discussing how to do it, so we're all in agreement on what to do."
DM: "I see your point I guess. Well, I disliked the guy too, and his first character was really obnoxious, so I'll allow you to arrange them to be killed in a way that breaks their character's personalty."
<player mayhem, the offending players rejoice and burn the character sheet.>
DM: "OK, I see your plans for how to take out the second character. But it would take a series of almost improbable events to occur. So it is a really difficult roll."
Players:
DM: *rolls dice, sees that it comes up as anything other than the results to do it... ignores the actual roll/bumps dice* "Hey, you made it!"
<players get lighter>
DM: "And now we shall never speak of the characters again. They never happened, so lets' just pretend anything associated with them never happened."
Keeper of Forbidden Lore* near by: "You know it would take Yog-Sothoth grade time shenanigans to pull that off last one. I can see about a half dozen ways to bring the characters back if you'd like to fix it."
<everyone in the other group>:
Keeper: *shrugs* "Well, at least I got some atmospheric smoke and sulfur reeking of ancient, unknowable horror. So you're approaching the temple of the Black Pharaoh..."

As a completely unrelated note: I can think of about a half dozen ways to bring States or Sister Psyche back. But I'm pretty sure no one in charage of plot would listen to me.

And of course he's still there. You're -told- they die. You're not -shown- they die. You're traveling to a point in Cimerora -before everything in Cimerora goes down-. let's map out important points in a rough order: A: First arrive in Cimerora B: Sister Arlia's/Daedalus' arcs C: Imperious Task Force D: Handling Mot & Cimerora burns E: Imperious and Romulus kill each other We never get to E. As far as our personal timeline goes, we make it up to D and leave Cimerora to the present to deal with Mot. We're -closer- to E than we were, but we never make it -to- E. We're only told E happens at some point while we're thousands of years in the future. So when we go back into Cimerora, it's still -their- past. In fact it may not even be E at all, it may be F or G or H and we don't know because we haven't experienced it yet, there could be more stuff that happens between our leaving after the Mot fiasco and the two of them killing each other. Really it's honest to gods time travel. There's no monkeying about with what's present, what's leveling, what's anything. it's time travel. We travel in time to a point prior to their deaths and have yet to reach the point where they die, we're only told they die. In fact we always knew they'd die, as said, Cimerora is gone, Statesman and Recluse possessed the incarnations of Zeus and Tartarus, and it's -thousands of years in the future-. Of course they died. We only didn't know how and at what point in time, a time we've yet to reach. It can't be spelled out any clearer than that. |
Like how in Faultline I'm in a point of time before I was in IP, as Penny proves.

The idea behind SSA1 was to update the game world and meta-story - it wasn't meant to be a kill Washington/Cleopatra kind of "what if" situation - it was done in the same way as the removal of old Galaxy City and old Dark Astoria and the defeat of the loyalists.
Those are all basic building blocks for the foundaion of the meta-story - there's no "maybe" about any of these major events, because without them, writing the meta-story becomes impossible. |
When your newly-created character first steps into Atlas Park or Mercy, Statesman and Psyche are already dead, and have been for quite a while. That means that SSA1 already happened, which means that Penny Yin is an adult member of the Freedom Phlanax, and Darrin Wade is a "guest" at Vanguard.
Then you meet Penny as a contact, and she's a teenager. Which means you're running missions for her literally years before Statesman and Psyche died. And yet they're still dead. Somehow.
Or if you're Redside (hypothetically, I know you're never redside), there's Darrin, still standing in place and dreaming his small dreams, and he hasn't even started plotting to kill anyone. Yet Statesman and Psyche are still dead. Somehow.
So the problem is not that they removed Statesman and Psyche from the game world, the problem is that it's the only change they made, even though other things also need to be changed to make the whole thing make sense.
Yes you get to IP before States and Sister die... but it would be weird to see them in IP AFTER they die..... Someone may not do the TFs until level 50 for what ever reason and do the SSA1. Then decide to do Sister and States TF... "Hey didn't you die already" :P
Did they really kill them off forever? Including from SSA1? Seem a little crazy to make the SSA1 to delete it. : P
Seeing as how I don't want to disappoint those who came here for other reasons!
*Note: I don't claim to be a good writer at all, nor is this extremely thought out*
The Imperious and romulus slashfic!
...
Imperious let his helmet slip from his fingers and drop to the ground as Romolus pulled him in closer.
They'd been at it all day. A savage foreplay of brutal beatings upon each other that had lead to nothing more than ripped outfits and solid muscular frames glistening with sweat in the waning sun.
They could feel their hearts beating as one as they stood their ground eyes locked in a battle of wills in who would speak first.
Imperious bit at his bottom lip. His hands lying gently against Romulus heaving chest. Chills of excitement running through his body as Romulus kept him from running away with powerful hands that gripped his waist.
"It's you. It's always been you." Romulus cried out before leaning in and licking the sweat from Imperious neck.
Imperious melted. His head leaned back to expose himself more to Romulus firm lips and exploring tongue, "I love you Romulus! I always have! And I always will!"
