Midnight Train to ... Ouro

Some of you know this already, but I'm guessing a lot of you don't. Let's say you're on a low-population server, and play at odd times. You turn 14, but can't find anyone to open an Ouroboros Portal for you.

If you are in a super group that has a base with portals, that's not a problem. Head to your base, and take the portal to Echo:Galaxy City. Once there, take the zone's train to Ouroboros. Get your badge and power!

Note that this does not help members of villain groups. Their bases cannot have portals to Echo:Galaxy City. You'll just have to keep begging on the Help Channel, hoping someone might hear and answer your plea.

Uh...

Well, for one thing, a villain SG can still have a Pillar of Ice and Flame, through which a member can run a flashback, which will then award Entrusted with the Secret.

But moreover, there are like fifty other ways to get Entrusted with the Secret besides the exploration badge on the Ouroboros spire, most of which do not require the help of other players with the badge. That's how people got it in the first place, after all.

Edit: if that was the joke, I claim the Poe's Law defense >.>

Since they've lowered the level requirement maybe they should add the badge to some more low level missions.

Mostly redside, honestly. Blueside has several story arcs, the earliest being in Faultline, that award the badge.

Villainside has... Vincent Ross and Marshall Brass, the latter being pretty easy to miss.

On the other hand, you can -always- access it at 40 because you can just run into Recluse Victory and grab one of the exploration badges.

I'm not suggesting that they have to do it or that it's needed but I think it would be good to place the badge in a few more low level story missions.

For heroes, I believe the first mission that you naturally get "entrusted with the secret" is from Jim Temblor. I am fairly sure finishing his arc gets you the badge and the Ouro portal summon. You can't get him till level 17 however. As for villains I am unsure. I don't typically play villains so I can't be sure what the earliest mission is that naturally gives the badge and summon.

If nothing else it's useful to know of missions that can naturally provide the portal if you don't have an SG and don't want to bother someone.

Doc Delilah actually at 20

looking at the list of hero ways to get the badge they seem to be Faultline, or lvl 40+

Using the Galaxy Echo at 14 would seem much simpler and faster

If you're doing it that way, you can just pick up the badge at level 1, and as soon as you train to level 14, Entrusted With the Secret and the portal should pop up.

You can actually get to Echo:Galaxy City at level 1. If you take its train to Ouroboros, you do get there. However, you are then bounced immediately to Atlas, before having a chance to get the badge.

I just realized that I was misinterpreting the OP. You're suggesting Galaxy as a shortcut to Ouro, whereas I was thinking that you were saying that the Galaxy Explores were now counting as time travel badges that pop Entrusted. My mistake.

The second Mercedes Sheldon arc grants it at 20-25; the "Ubelmann the Unknown" arc grants it at 25, and Holsten Armitage (science store contact) grants it at 30 with just one mission. There are still faster and easier ways, but you don't have to wait for level 40 if you skip Faultline.

I definitely agree that redside needs more ways to get the badge. I'm just glad that Marshall Brass isn't the only way to earn it through story arcs any more. His is the best of the three 15-19 Cap au Diable arcs, but it's nice to get some variety for a change.

Did you actually bother to read any of the requirements for those "fifty other ways" to get the Entrusted badge that your implying a level 14 character can get solo?

If so please explain how a level 14 character can get into Recluse Victory which requires characters be a minimum level of 40 to enter the zone.

Yes, I did read them, but the OP (at least, to my reading of it) wasn't particularly insisting on getting the portal exactly at 14. One can't do any flashbacks yet at that level, after all, and won't yet need to do much zone-hopping.

Ah I knew I got it in Faultline... and that it had something to do with Jim Temblor but you're right it's Doc Delilah at 20.

Level 14... that would be a five minute stretch on your fourth or maybe fifth DfB run, yes?

Okay. I got a different impression.

To me that says he wants methods of getting the portal unlocked at level 14.

Conquest proved too much for the man,
So he's leavin' the life he's come to know,
He said he's goin' back in time
To save what's left of his world,
The world he tried to conquer
Not so long ago.
He's leaving,
On that midnight train to Ouro,
And he's goin' back
To a place outside of time.
And I'll be with him
On that midnight train to Ouro,
I'd rather live in his world
Than live with fake him's in mine.

Of course that one is not WAI since there aren't supposed to be any missions in the echo of DA .

50 Ways To Visit Ouro

The problem is all inside your head she said to me
The answer is easy if you read the damn Wiki
You’ll get to randomize the game’s chronology
There must be fifty ways to visit Ouro.

No need in broadcast or in Wentworth’s to intrude
With great
Temporal power you will somehow be imbued
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to visit Ouro
Fifty ways to visit Ouro.

Just slip into RV,
See
Just save Mr. States
Mates
Work for Agent G,
See
Or maybe Doc D.

You don't need to be fifty
(Nifty!)
Mail from Requiem
Ahem
Just get off your ***,
Class,
And run Marshal Brass.

This one just doesn't work as well, but NPR did an interview with Elton John this week and I haven't been able to get this out of my head, so here it is (apologies to Elton John/Bernie Taupin):

I will be leaving tonight on a train
I can see the golden timegate heading for another plane
Oh and I can see Silos with spikey hair
God he looks like Nemesis, must be the stormclouds in my eyes

Silos the Mender, you are older than dirt
Do you still play a game of a million twining plots
You're outside time, but you see future crime
Silos you're a guy in a place in the sky
